i love sad yearning jack wolfe but i ADORE angry vengeful jack wolfe. his performance in TUPOHF is very similar to aaron tveitās gabe as ive seen a lot of people point out and itās just as mesmerizing. the kid has range please let him play every role!!
currently thinking about the little heart morgan dudley drew on my playbill <3
the intense detective level of sleuthing iāve done for Jack Wolfeās career is never before seen. i am delving into the deepest depths of the internet for every scrap and i have proven victorious
"jack wolfe asā" anything. literally anything. cast him as EVERYTHING actually because the world needs more characters played by jack wolfe. I need more characters played by jack wolfe.
How do you think it was for me?
So fucking gifted and everyone agreed
Get him a drink at the bar, this kids gonna go far
Lighting up the sky like a shooting star
He's gonna get his PhD
From Oxford or Cambridge University
And then he'll ignite in the night
Like a light just so bright
Soon the whole world will see!!
Why did you build me up to watch me fall
You lifted me up to cut me down so small
Why didnt you help me when I was underneath it all
You just stood and stared and did nothing at all
Whenever I spoke you didn't listen
Whatever I said you didn't hear
Felt like something was missing
Never knew if you loved or you feared
Wandering out on this road
As if it somehow might fill up this hole
That you've ignored for so long
as if nothing was wrong
Now it's so strong that it's pulling you under
new Jack Wolfe film projectā¦another on the wayā¦original music written and performed by Jack in said filmā¦god is good.
iāll never forget my pure genuine shock when i saw Hadestown for the first time and after sobbing profusely to Morgan Dudleyās Flowers, i looked to my right and Jack Wolfe was standing right fucking there. i just so happen to be sitting in the aisle seat right where he was. had no idea that was part of the show but it shocked me enough to stop me from crying lol
was watching a vid of aaron tveit singing iām alive and this killed me
Orpheus: Its you⦠(please not again)
everything about their orpheus destroys me omf
I went in to the West End N2N proshot not expecting much but just excited to finally be able to watch this musical with good quality and wowwww I never expected this version to completely win me over like it did. Thereās a lot of aspects of this show that excite me from a technical and artistic point of view but the West End version of Gabe is the most interesting to me because it is the most different aspect of the two versions.
In the 2009 version, Diana seems to want Gabe because she wants to feel loved. Her fantasy of Gabe comes off as more of a lover than a son imo. In "I Dreamed A Dance" Gabe is shown slow dancing with Diana in a suit. Whenever she needs comfort (like in I Am The One) she runs into his arms. He plays with her hair, holds her hand. The West End production makes it clear that Diana needs someone TO love. Of course, Gabe still holds her hand and whatnot, but what I think makes this version of Gabe so sad is how he is portrayed as a sad, scared kid. He sits on the counter (Gabe on the counter haha) after Superboy & The Invisible girl like a child! Teary eyes and a quivering lip like he's in trouble. This version of I Dreamed A Dance is sooo much sadder too. Di letting go of Gabe is framed as sending a kid away to college. She's packing up his things and sending him away.
What's also interesting is how Gabe is much more present in the pro shot as well! Even if he isn't singing or talking, he lurks on stage. Especially during the therapy appointments. During Make Up Your Mind Reprise Diana hugs Gabe and he cries in her arms. She is imagining a version of her son that is helpless (like a baby) she yearns for someone to take care of. It was weird to rewatch the 2009 bootleg and not see any of these details there because it makes everything so much more gut wrenching.
These are just a couple thoughts I had on the differences but I have so much more haha.
took an adderall and proceeded to type up a phat google doc comparing Gabe in N2N from the og 2009 Broadway production to the West End Proshot through the actor portrayal and blocking while also highlighting how the pro shot re contextualizes Gabe as a character and a concept and fleshes out his dynamic with the family more than the broadway production so um hit me up if you want me to leak that
the day jack wolfe drops the original music they teased in that interview is the day i die youāll never hear from me again
i cannot stop listening to their āif itās trueā my GODDD
