things a concerning amount of people aged 25-40 on this site believe about today's children:
they don't know how to read and this makes them mean and dumb. also even though their meanness and dumbness are the result of poor education, they are still personal character flaws that deserve to be mocked.
they are responsible for wide scale censorship in schools and on social media. because, as we all know, children are famously politically powerful, never want to see horny or edgy content, and love it when books are banned in their school libraries.
they love to spread misinformation around so they can all armchair diagnose each other and act like they have learning disabilities in order to excuse their laziness about doing school work. obviously they are all liars and just need to just get their acts together and grow up instead of shirking responsibility for their actions like this.
they are uniquely cruel in comparison to past generations, and this is because of Phone. and also TikTok. no one has ever been cruel like this before.
they would all be much better off with their parents monitoring their internet usage. if they're closeted and their parents are homophobic then, well, sucks for them. kids being abused out of sight is better than them being annoying where I can see them.

anyone who's followed me for any amount of time knows i'm not some kind of sex-positivity hardliner, there are various criticisms of kink and the porn industry that I agree with for example, but frankly most criticism of casual sex/"hookup culture" are just the lamest whiniest shit to me.
I don't mean criticism of how rape culture can manifest itself within casual sex culture, i mean like criticism of consensual, sober casual sex. every critique of consensual casual sex strikes me as either pathetic jealousy, or like, "I thought i'd enjoy this but it turned out I didn't so now nobody should be allowed to do it (even though tons of people do enjoy it)" and in either case i'm afraid you are simply going to have to get over it.
if you're bored of casual sex and are finding yourself struggling to transition into a committed relationship i sympathize, I genuinely do, i've been there, but if casual sex didn't exist that wouldn't magically cause you to develop the social skills necessary to enter a committed relationship. if anything you would have even less relevant social skills because you wouldn't have developed adjacent social skills in a lower stakes environment.
if "hookup culture" didn't exist you wouldn't be in a committed relationship you'd just be both single *and* fuckless.

also we have GOT to collectively come to terms with the fact that me or any other stranger online disliking or even making fun of something you like is not saying “no fun allowed” “no one can ever enjoy this” you have simply got to grow a spine and be able to like the shit you like. you don’t even have to defend it! like 90% of the media i really enjoy is divisive and half my friends actively hate it. i really don’t give a fuck though because i like it. you can write whatever you want! you’re allowed! even if it’s MY least favorite genre or style of writing and i have active distaste for it!
people on here love to be like "well actually its a symptom of the system/its a symptom of Power" and then not say what the system entails, what interests people in power protect, what ideologies characterise existing systems as opposed to others that could theoretically exist, &c &c &c
one american thing that confuses me are college application letters. why do you need to write yourself a tragic backstory to go to university, don't you have standardized exams? who's reading through all these bad high schooler essays?

like in general making care work dependent on sentimentality is a fucking bad idea lol, to some extent you can't really prevent the fact that people interacting with one another will probably feel some type of way about each other but esp when you are taking on a role where people depend on you for basic bodily care tasks, necessary medications, proper performance of potentially dangerous procedures &c it's not actually about YOU or your feelings at all & the more you make it into that type of ego trip looking for self satisfaction because youre soooooo self sacrificing and empathetic and you love your patients sooooooooo much -- the less you actually see & think about & serve those patients. never confuse personal fondness for evidence you are doing right by that person -- completely irrelevant & not at all protective against or mutually exclusive of abuse. people who are disliked or dislikable also need care! you signed up to provide it to them. if you cannot do bear to do that and do it fucking well then find a different job

i don't like calling things cognitohazardous, even when used semifacetiously it gives some amount of credence to the idea that one can be mentally corrupted by reading something. like even outright fascist propaganda is not a cognitohazard, one can read like mein kampf or smth and understand that it's bad just fine and not be like duped into hating da jews or whatever. reading stuff that is bigoted abt a group you are in can be painful and triggering but that isn't what is conveyed by the term cognitohazard
