to everyone who reads this:
this is a technique of mindfulness. pay attention to those feelings without judging whether it’s right or wrong. allow yourself to feel it but do not let it consume you. everything will be okay at the end of the day. keep going forward 🌻💛

Positive language does not mean you only give praise- it means you provide an addition or change to make with a suggestion of how to make it happen!
If you only tell you child to “stop yelling,” it might be hard for them to know what to do instead! They are probably yelling (or whatever inappropriate behavior) because they do not know how else to act or express themselves. So when we say “Please use your quiet voice,” it provides an alternative behavior that is acceptable and appropriate.
A directive like “stop yelling” is also inflammatory and punitive. And odds are you will probably say it in a loud voice. Which just adds more screaming- OH NO! So bonus points if you can say “please use your inside voice” in an actual inside voice 😂
