Touched by Nikta's curse

These are Ophelia and Haddad. Ophelia is my sister's character for Daggerheart, and Haddad is my own.

One of the main aspects of the Witherwild setting is the 'wither', a sort of magic illness that is capable of altering you physically and give you wild or naturalistic features. Both Ophelia and Haddad have been exposed to its effects via injuries during battle, so currently they both posess it to an extent.

Ophelia is a half-Katari, and has spent most of her life traveling and hunting through the expansive forests of Fanewick with her father; now deceased from the wither himself.

Haddad, a half-giant, has lived a peaceful, hard-working life up in the Fjallskär mountains, until his brother Luca's death, also from the wither.

They might be the only ones in their party who are currently scarred by the wither. But, as Haddad often tells Ophelia, "We're the strongest ones, that's why we can bear it".

So last post I had mentioned I'd won a PvP combat against one of my teammates (a cocky monk). But next stage of the PvP tournament was a 3v3 against TWO of my teammates! My sister's indestructible cleric of life, and a friend's well-seasoned and insanely creative fighter...

Well... I still won! Luca won!! 👀✨

I have to be honest, it wasn't the most satisfying victory, because my last minute strategy was kind of bullshit... lol. I sincerely felt super bad right after the combat ended, not at all how I expected to feel! Which was eye-opening, and definitely a lesson for next time: I realized I enjoy cinematic, engaging, and character-driven combat more than just the achievement of winning.

If you're curious, I won by using Rope Trick on my turn, using my Steel Defender's action to pull the rope into our pocket dimension, and then hiding cozily in there until one of them was finally out of combat... 😭😭 it took about 10 rounds of doing nothing (at some point, the fighter tried to play dead to make me get out of my hideout--and it almost worked!) But in the end, it was a fight between my sister's cleric and my battlesmith. She was out of spells, so it was no contest at all.

Our characters are pretty much best friends in-game, so when it was my turn to shoot her, and Luca hesitated, her cleric opened her arms to let herself get shot OUGH!! It was super sad!! 🥺--But fortunately it was a non-lethal combat, and everyone got a hefty gold prize in the end, so no hard feelings at all. (Although... I still feel kinda guilty for how that went... lol 💀 lesson learned)

Anyway! Here's Luca in the Zaratian desert, from our current campaign! I imagine that even as he's traveling through Erdin (an entirely different continent) He'd still find himself reminiscing about the sands back at home

The (g)H0st in the machine (Lore drop under the cut)

(Experimenting with these 'Keep reading' so I can fit in more lore here LOL! Please bear with me) This was the first iteration I made of Luca as we know him today! I decided to design more outfits for him so I could visualize him easier while playing. He's an artificer (and soon to be warlock) living in a futuristic, cyberpunk type of world. Luca used to work at an electronic orthopedics/prosthetics shop with his dad, but after his dad passed, and a bunch of other shitty things happened in his life; he sold the shop and got a job as an electromechanic instead. Nowadays he's roommates with his best friend, and they co-parent a robotic cat that Luca himself built for his friend. On his free time, Luca's a hacker. He mainly uses his skills in favor of his community (and sometimes to get access to medicine for himself). He's quiet and unassuming, which are probably among the best qualities a hacker can have. And it's effective! He hasnt been caught (yet!) Like in every other AU, Luca's intersex. He's had some intermittent issues with his joints as a result of his chimerism, hence all the different compression sleeves and tapes he uses. Also the reason why he's so hellbent on bioengineering himself: So he can finally live without pain.

Guess who got challenged to a tournament/duel on Sunday by a patronising teammate (a monk), only to then proceed to absolutely smoke said teammate? 🤭🏆 Hehe! I guess Luca does hit pretty hard when under pressure... my baby battlesmith has grown up so much! 😭🖤✨ Next up on the tournament I'm battling both my sister's character, Anriem (Cleric, Sorcerer) and another friend's character, Prince Rakan (Fighter), both of them know what they're doing, and they both use the environment to their advantage, so this'll be pretty hard... please wish me luck, or send me some tips... 👀💦
