Really kinda depressing when I look at half the products in my bathroom and realize they were used to test on animals.
My plan is to use them until the bottle is gone but when I need something new like toothpaste or soap I'm buying cruelty free
That's a good idea right??
One thing I really wish vegans and vegetarians would stop doing is equating animals to humans. Animals do not actually have as much moral value as humans, their experiences aren't as complex, they're not as conscious etc, vegetarianism just means that you think the hedonic pleasure from eating a cow is not of the same magnitude as the suffering induced by factory farming and the cows slaughter. This does not in any way imply that cows and humans are equivalent moral patients. This is also why I get annoyed by terms such as specieism, because specieism is actually entirely fine, we're just too speciest.

Remembering Regan Russell🌱
Yesterday, Regan Russell was killed.
She was at Fearman’s Pork slaughterhouse with @torontopigsave for a regular vigil. During these vigils the activists have an agreement with the slaughterhouse where the trucks stop outside for 2 minutes, so the activists can approach and give the pigs water and show them some comfort (animals in transportation are not given access to any water for up to 36 hours). However, one of the truck drivers ran Regan over and killed her. Her last moments were spent showing compassion towards the non-human animals that society turns away from. Her last moments were spent caring for the most vulnerable. Her last moments were spent standing up for what’s right. When you stand outside of these slaughterhouses you hear animals screaming for their life. You see horrific suffering and unimaginable pain inside those trucks. But Regan didn’t ever turn away, she was there every week for the pigs. She stood up against injustice and used her voice to raise awareness about the suffering of others since 1979. We must now use our voices to amplify this same message, to pay our respects to Regan, to honour her memory and to stand up for those who are suffering. Regan was killed just a few days after the agricultural gag (“ag gag”) law, Bill 156, was passed in Ontario. Bill 156 exists to prevent activists from filming animal suffering on farms and during transport, making it illegal to do so. Rest in peace Regan, I’m so, so sorry.

should you rescue drowning insects? are they likely to survive after or will they suffer before dying? should you kill half dead insects out of mercy?
You should try to save any animal (who isn’t being preyed upon) whenever it’s obvious that your actions will help them in some way. Lifting a moth out of a bath of water may not save them but it is obviously more likely to do so than leaving them to drown.
In terms of insects who look like they’re dying, I don’t think that most people are equipped to really know if an insect can’t be saved. What may look like death can be actually just be lethargy, being stuck to a surface or needing water. Bees are a good example, they often can be seen crawling across the ground of completely still as if injured, but perk up instantly when they get some sugar water. Unless the insect in question is clearly half crushed I think giving them a chance is usually the best option.
