It's bordering on 54 degrees (Celsius obv) outside. It's been three hours since they got here. Kakashi still can't find a parking spot. Naruto is arguing with a kid and is holding the (extremely) long line. Sakura just found a grave mistake she made in the exam and is having a mental breakdown in the girls' bathroom. A couple took a chair from the table for three that Sasuke was saving (it was the only one he could find) and he's been sabotaging their date ever since, the staff are debating whether to kick him out or not. Sai is nowhere to be seen, he might be in the car trunk for all we know but that just means less headaches for everybody so he will be staying there.

It's the first day of summer break. Life is good.

Like the whole unrequited love angst is the cherry on top. It gives this ship a flavor like no other. It's a ship dipped in the sauce of pining with despair and patheticness sprinkled on top like sugar.

They're the definition of slow painful insufferable burn that might not even lead to anything but crying and suffering.

Best case scenario Sakura falls in love later while trying to get sasuke back and she and Naruto live happily ever after but why though??

Fairy tale endings are so overrated, why make them happy when you can milk the 'right person wrong time' and 'he fell too early she fell too late' tropes dry??
