pop health science is so annoying bc it'll be like "did you know? eating strawberries will give you mega cancer" and you're like pfft whatever begone influencer. but sometimes then you'll see a reasonably credible article like "Study Shows Possible Link Between Strawberries and Mega Cancer" and you're not usually the type to follow that kind of thing religiously but idk maybe you should consider not eating strawberries? but then there's another article saying "Strawberry/Mega Cancer Study Debunked" and it turns out the original study had a sample size of 3 and was funded by Big Blueberry, and strawberries may have a small connection to mega cancer but only if you are genetically predisposed to mega cancer and eat 50 strawberries every day. so you return to your strawberry eating life. but whenever you eat strawberries in public someone tells you about the mega cancer.

I worked one year as a Christmas Elf at a little novelty railroad track a local Garden center had set up over the holidays. And one day, this shitty little kid who was like I think 9 squinted and crossed his arms and looked at me and said "You're not an elf, you're too tall."

I responded that I'm a South Pole elf. We're a lot taller, all of the short elves that he sees in the movies are North Pole elves. They film those movies during the summer because it's the offseason and the North Pole elves are laid off. But during the Christmas season they're too busy actually working with Santa to make toys, so they aren't available for public relations work. So us South Pole elves fill in. It's a big season for us.

What's hilarious is that I was never taught Santa was real as a kid and have never believed in Santa. I have no investment in training children to believe in him. I just love lying. I love it so much. Nothing is more fun the look on a kids face when they're smart enough to know you're lying but not smart enough to figure out how.

Like, Grace is in the bathroom, shaving, the curtain pulled to the side and suddenly he stops and says "stop touching my stuff". Rocky, frozen, somewhere behind him, can't fathom how Grace sensed that. He was so quiet. The razor is so loud. Grace's still facing away from him. What the fuck.

Grace repairing some panel or other and asks for a tool. Without even turning around, he says "no, not that one, the one to its left". Rocky's like are you shitting me. I know for a fact your hearing is ass. You can only see in one direction and I'm not in it!! What?!
