Okay 1, I’m so sorry for the embarrassingly terrible quality of these stills, it’s the best I can do atm, but more importantly, have I missed this being covered elsewhere already somehow or am I just imagining vampire blood cum being show canon now? (This was such a quick, not-the-focus moment, so tbh maybe I’m very incorrect in what I thought I thought we were supposed to see?)

I fear vampire Daniel is doomed.
s3e1: No appearance in that opening scene, set in the future after the Great Catastrophes. Lestat’s OD conversation with Baby Jenks’ out-of-body hallucination on the ceiling: “Everything dies. You die. I die. She dies. (Christine Claire shown) She dies. (Dee Pharma shown). (Camera cuts to Daniel Molloy) Oh, he dies bad.”
s2e5: The conversation after Louis stops Armand from draining Young Daniel after the 1973 interview debacle in SanFran— Armand: “After everything you’ve put me through, I deserve this.” Louis: “I know. But I need this one to live. As a testament to our companionship. Of its endurance. This boy to live out the night.” And Daniel Molloy did go on to live his mortal life for the exact remainder of Louis and Armand’s companionship. His ‘death’—his turning marks the end of its endurance in the most literal way possible. The acting from Assad and Jacob in just the tiny glimpse we got of them in the s3 opening scene was unbelievably phenomenal—a million things conveyed with zero words in almost no screen time and a glance or two. And while I personally feel like Loumand is over in terms of their companionship (good, for Louis sanity reasons and because if I don’t get DM crumbs soon I will 100% perish), I can absolutely see where there is plausible room for there to be some sort of dynamic/plot/resentment/fondness/attraction/whatever/idk the right word that lingers between them unspoken and unresolved still this season. Idk. If that’s the case (if ANY of this is the case lol) I wonder what things finally being 100% ended or different or past a threshold that there is no returning from for whatever reason for Louis and/or Armand in the future might look like in terms of Vampire Daniel’s immortal life.
Also, to continue to get ahead of myself with only 2 watches of a singular episode to go off, I’m gonna go ahead and say I think that as the season continues and we get more and more information, any sort of clarity about the reality of the s1 train scene events is likely going to have to be assessed by looking at it through the lens of how Gabriella has/had ever maintained power over Lestat throughout their history to get him to do what she’s wanted in similar scenarios. There’s sooooooo much more I could already say about the Claudia & Lestat and Gabistat parallels but it’s so early I’m gonna wait til the end of the season before doing any sort of deep dive into that to see how it actually unfolds in full.
This sideblog was originally for OurGoodShadows stuff, back in the blissful days before any of those final seasons happened how they did. My big three fandom/hyperfixation/meta analysis shows now are Severance, Plur1bus, and IWtV. I have severance and Plur1bus side blogs. Feeling like it might be time to finally convert this one to more of an IWtV focus.
Maybe I’m wayyyy behind everyone who’s read the books and things here(?), but putting the pieces together to predict how the dots connect from where we are at the end of e1 to the Louis is gonna kill Bruce plot line, that’s gonna be connected by the Fang Gang (their beef with Lestat in s3e1, Bruce using this term verbatim (in passing but memorably) with Claudia in s1, and also Baby Jenks (who has Killer tattooed on the back of her neck (and is getting married in a week 👀), plus we have a promo clip of Louis saying “I’m looking for Killer”, s1 that was the term of endearment (for lack of a better phrase) that Claudia used that once with Bruce before everything went so badly).
Basically, my point is that I know a whole lot of people were concerned any sort of plot line where Louis hunts down and kills Bruce would be about avenging Claudia’s death in a way that the narrative would frame in a positive/romanticized way that would give him some sort of undeserved feeling of atonement/absolution for how she suffered at his (Louis’) hands too, directly because of his decisions. BUT (and again, it’s all just super speculation and putting together barely-there pieces at this point so who knows how it’ll play out) now I feel like it’s much more likely that Louis would have never gone after Bruce if Lestat (and/or possibly Daniel? But definitely Lestat) were someone the one involved in some sort of predicament there or needed avenging, whether Louis purports it’s solely or mostly or firstly for “Claudia” or not in the end.
It’s never been about her.
Anyway. I’m obsessed with the new season. I’m dying to see how this whole thing plays out. If anyone has more info than I do here, please correct me if I’ve missed anything!! :)

The boy we met in San Francisco, the one who fumbled over his tape-recording device, who barely understood the meaning of the story he was being told... he’s still in there somewhere.
My favorite thing about IWtV is that every single time we see Lestat until that very last scene, it’s through the lens of various unreliable narrators. We’ve seen him objectively one single time so far. I cannot wait til next season when he’s gonna to take over the narrative.

The MOST unreliable narrator of them all was, as it turns out, the s3 marketing team, who’ve spent sooooooo long using Long Face and footage from episode one to advertise framed in SUCH a fascinatingly different way (Lestat is worshipped, Cool, unbothered, put together, popular, adored) than how it actually plays (Lestat is big fuckin loser who’s got zero real plan moment to moment, who’s concerts are lame, and who’s song fuckin sucked btw, he’ll tell you so himself parts of the fandom who’ve been prepared to die on the hill that other people ‘don’t get it’ ) .
I want to sit and write a whole bunch of analysis on just this alone because it’s soooooo endlessly interesting to me
