one of the hundred things I love about Andor is that in the end, all the villains were destroyed not in an epic showdown with the rebels or whoever but by the machine that they worked for. syril was a faceless casualty of the genocide he helped create. dedra was done in for putting ambition over conformity to the machine, and she took down partagaz, who essentially created her, along with her. even heert was quite literally killed by his own droid and his own men. all of them were crushed by the wheel they dedicated their lives to keep turning. it's just so deeply deeply satisfying.

i doubt star wars officially will ever get into it the way i’d like (maybe a novel at most) but i think about hera’s pregnancy a lot. i think the existence of jacen in the epilogue is meant to be a bittersweet happy ending for her but like. the horror of having to make the choice between bringing a baby into a war or losing your last chance at having a child with the man you love. making that choice knowing your child will never know his father. trying to figure out exactly how your child will be taken care of while you’re fighting a war. doing all of this with extremely fresh grief. being so physically encumbered while the rebellion is doing some of its most vital work. zeb and sabine trying to take care of her when she’s still feeling this need to take care of them. i’m glad she has jacen and loves him and finds joy in their relationship but the entire thing is so intensely scary in a way i don’t think the tv shows are particularly interested in

they introduce cassian andor and it’s like this man has a missing sister, a dead planet, and the biggest saddest brown eyes you’ve ever seen. he’s killed two guys sort of by accident but this is also kinda par the course for him. everyone in his town kinda loves him and kinda wants to shake him down for coins. he treats his droid like a person. he’s a mommas boy and a terrible boyfriend. some guy halfway across the galaxy is dying to meet him. and it’s like cool that is my best friend i would protect him with my life hope nothing terrible happens to him in the ensuing months of his life.
