Everytime.. every single time I read The House In The Cerulean Sea (and believe me it has a LOT of times), the Linus from the beginning breaks my heart. And then I read this line,

It was just that he felt … dimmer than others. Like he was faded in a crystal-clear world. He wasn’t meant to be seen

... and it shatters - and no matter when there is a lump the size of a planet in my throat. Because I know exactly how that feels.

I think Klune's success isn't entirely due to the characters - it is also because he breaks our heart first - and then remakes it, stuffed with lot of 🌟sparkles 🌟
