one thing the writers of veronica mars get so so wrong is they seem to think viewers literally only care about veronica. itâs different from other teen dramas because veronica is the main character and technically everyone else is a side character, even though she mainly deals with a small cast of the same people. but i think because the show treats veronica like the only main character and subsequently the only character to really matter (besides her father), they justify doing literally EVERYONE ELSE so dirty all the time.
and yes, iâm mainly talking about logan because what the fuck was that. but iâm also talking about duncan and piz, who are completely written out of the show when theyâre no longer viable love interests (despite both having arguably interesting character design and storylines). and wallace, who is a staple character for every single season but for whom we only see a few short-lived, never fully fleshed out storylines. and weevil, who they screw over time and time again until they basically ruin his character. same sort of goes for mac, and meg and parker and nicole who all have potential for plot lines they never get to see because everything is either veronica mars lore, an ongoing mystery, or a short term mystery.
and believe me, i like the formula of the show and i really really really enjoy this show and the mysteries and whatever. but every single season it feels like the writers simply cannot let anyone stay happy for more than two seconds as if that will suddenly make the show boring despite the multiple mysteries always going on. and as a result they hurt their ratings because, despite what the writers seem to think, people care about characters like wallace and logan and weevil etc etc just as much as they care about veronica, and we want to see them happy! and it just pisses me off that they treat characters that i love so much like absolute garbage to keep the show âinterestingâ. you can only get so far on shock factor, and unfortunately the multiple cancellations of VM as a concept seems to constantly prove that.

Someone said âThe slow burn of becoming yourselfâ and I think that might be one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. Itâs such a good reminder of how much it takes, how much character development, how much change, and beauty and courage it takes to reach your soul and I hope no one ever gives up on becoming themselves because itâs a never ending journey that only gets better.
this and also the only difference between fanfic writers and writers who sell their own original works as careers is that fanfics arenât monetized. thatâs all.
being a âprofessionalâ writer doesnât mean your works are inherently better than fanfics. Iâve read so many fics that are more professionally written than some published books.
whether or not a piece of writing is monetized has nothing to do with its quality.
Rory: We call that a âtraumatic experience.â
Rory, turning to the River: Not a âbruh moment.â
Rory, turning to Amy: Not âit is what it is.â
Rory, turning to the Doctor: And DEFINITELY not âoof LMAO.â
I think it would be funny if in season 18 of IASIP Charlie brings back up his confusion about how Philly and Pittsburgh are in the same state and/or the gangs' disdain of Pittsburgh as a culturally poke at the Pitt in like a parallel to how Go Birds got Melissa temporarily on their side in the Abbott Elementary crossover.
Something so funny about rereading one's own unfinished fics. Like wow this is pretty good! Almost as if it was written exactly according to what I personally like in fact! Someone should finish it!
There are 2 types of fanfic:
fanfic that I like
fanfic that is none of my business
*gently takes your face in my hands* hey. remember that fandom is for fun. if you're not having fun it is ok to step back. if you're intentionally making it unfun for others it is ok to step back. none of this is real. go sit in the sun and smell a flower. i love you.
An ick of mine is over-engaging actors in fandom culture in interviews.
Take The Pitt for example. It is the perfect fandom playground because each season takes place over a continuous 15 hours, so you can literally ship whoever you want and practically headcanon whatever without taking away from canon. But people have to be fandom assholes and engage in ship wars. Like literally who cares? Like ship wars always feel petty to me no matter the fandom (extending canon vs. creating non-canon ideas, kind of the point of fanfic and fan culture in my opinion), but in The Pitt it just feels even more ridiculous. So when people are asking the actors to weigh in to something that has little ramification to the work we actually saw them do/push them to cater to fandom instead of having actually conversations about their work it is just so annoying.
online numbers can really fuck you up when it comes to your creative work because you're sharing something you worked on with all your heart but it's very important to remember there's actual people behind those numbers. even if it's 1. that's one whole actual person. that's a human being who said "haha nice". that's a connection with a REAL person with a REAL life and REAL thoughts and feelings and experiences. like. damn. that should mean something
