I love characters that have never been loved before experiencing it for the first time. They're taken aback by softness. They're confused by warm words and being cared for. June is the traditional Pride Month all over the world, and for a few years now, a series of events are organized on FFXIV by the roleplay community to celebrate diversity in and out of the game.

With most IRL events being cancelled this year, it’s more important than ever to provide online ways to observe this tradition.

Light the Night with DJ Shobu - June 7th, 5pm EDT

DJ Shobu opens the doors to his secret Chateau located in a quite tucked away alley of the Goblet. Just look for the bright colors, you can’t miss it.

Music, food, and friends, all are invited. This is an all age event!

Street Festival - June 19th (Time TBD)

Enjoy this colourful festival by wandering between stalls of themed vendors, cheer at the talented performances or participate in the parade!

Drag Show - June 20th, 8pm EDT

They say Drag is the highest form of gay, and we hope to prove it once again! Queens and kings will put on a show for you, including high fashion, reading, and many talents!

Drunken Moogle Club Night - June 27th, 4pm EDT

Once again, the Drunken Moogle opens its door for a Pride themed Club Night! Enjoy drinks, games, music and contests in a decor uniquely crafted for this event.

Pride Vigil - June 28th (Time TBD)

This OOC event set on the anniversary of the Stonewall riots is the occasion to remember where the idea of a Pride parade originated, as well as the people who fought for the rights we have today.

Join us with your sun minions out as candles, hear commemorative speeches and share your own heartfelt memories and thoughts with the audience.

It’s not “normal” as in “everybody feels this way so suck it up and quit whining”.

It’s “normal” as in “many people experience pain, loneliness, anxiety, self-hatred, and other symptoms of mental illness that feel like they ‘don’t count’ because there’s no real Thing they can point to to explain it, but their pain and suffering are real and ought to be taken seriously.”

However, when I say “many people” I actually mean “less than a quarter of the population”. The vast majority of people aren’t in massive internal pain most of the time. If this post resonates with you, I super recommend you look into mental health resources, because nobody deserves to feel this way, and there’s a very real hope that information, understanding, therapy, and/or medication can work together to help you feel better.

Fantasizing about being hurt or dying in some way so that everyone realizes how much pain you’re in isn’t a sign that you’re a terrible person. It’s a sign that YOU’RE IN A LOT OF PAIN. Pain that deserves help and that CAN be helped.

See, I’m... pretty certain I put some thought in Lyo’s birthday. It’s the 23rd of the 3rd Umbral Moon, so the 23rd of June. The thing is, because of the very fuzzy timeline SE leaves us with, I had to think pretty hard on Lyo’s age for his backstory to make sense, and I think that birth date allowed me to... be right on the edge of where his backstory worked at the time I created him.

Most of the time, though, I just pick a thing at random x_x

So, with viera and hrothgar on the way, how will that affect your OCs? Are they already aware of either of these races? Maybe they already know a viera or hrothgar? Or will their arrival be a complete surprise?

Because there are Hrothgars enlisted in the Garlean army, I headcannon that Lyo at least saw one or two pass through over the years. He knows what they are, but is just surprised at how many there suddenly seem to be in Eorzea. Oh, and he doesn’t know their culture or anything, just that they’re a thing, basically.

Viera is a bit more complex, because, well… I honestly don’t know. And I don’t even think he’s seen one in RP yet either. He’s not really the sort to be surprised, though, probably would be all like “Oh, look, rabbit girls. Anyway, what’s for dinner tonight?”
