we need to start going back to making things with animal byproducts. they’re better for the environment and last longer.

i respect vegans and them choosing to not eat meat or use any animal byproducts, but it is worse for the environment for us to pivot to that lifestyle. if they don’t want to endorse animal abuse and mistreatment then they can buy old vintage products or something. but we cannot continue doing this

Atariel, a queer, half-elf woman expects to die in the village she was born in. But when she is told that a necromancer is after her because of her blood, she must venture into the larger world she’s never been a part of before it’s destroyed. She is tasked with gathering the pieces of an ancient weapon from magical animals, all while being assaulted by ghosts from her past, both literally and figuratively. Unsure of whom to trust, she struggles with the most important questions: How is her deceased mother involved? Who is this necromancer? And how can she hope to defeat him when her greatest fear is taking a life?

What is there to say about Gideon the Ninth that has not been said? Do you like women?? Do you like swords?? Do you like narrators who are unreliable cause they only pay attention to hot women and swords??? This is the book for you. People who dnf this series because they’re confused are weak. I am very confused and loving it. 5/5 stars

Oooo boy, A Wilderness of Stars, by Shea Ernshaw. I was so exited about this one, I mean, that cover, that title! It’s about an astronomer! Unfortunately I think their ‘science advisor’ was actually an astrologist or scientologist or something, cause none of the “science” in this book was even remotely believable. Pair that with boring characters, repetitive prose, and one of the most unbelievable and cringey insta-love romances I’ve read, and this was...not good. 2/5 stars. It would have been rated lower if not for the pretty cover and title.

A short and lovely space novella, To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers. As it turns out space means a lot to me and this is such a good example of an author utilizing a science consultant, and I was definitely crying at the end. 5/5 stars.

I though I’d start this page with this very on theme book, Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh. It’s a short, hazy walk through the woods, filled with ambiance and more than a dash of queerness. 5/5 stars.
