Love when writers do an insane amount of unnecessary research for their fics. I follow an author that did like 8 months of intense research into 14th century Scotland so they could write smut about it, and guess what. It was some fucking incredible porn AND I learned about old Scottish politics
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT FEELS LILE
@iamthecomet me
Me too. Every time.
@thesuspiciousflyingjellyfish it’s us
I'm... almost a year into specific research for a future project and I went to Iceland for inspo for a current one, so.... I believe it. XD This is 100% true. And don't forget the testing! The "actually doing crazy things to see if they can be done" bit! That's another part of it all. xD
It's my highest grossing book and fan fiction to date 😁
I once wanted to write a specific sexual position with 3 people and couldn't find a reference to it on the internet the way I was envisioning it. My friend and I spent hours, and nothing.
Well...🤣🤷🏼♀️♥️♥️♥️ She happened to have friends in the ameture, online film industry, and two days later, a video appeared with the position exquisitely executed with notes from all three "players" on how they got that way and suggestions on how to write it out in my story.
It's my highest rated story to date 😁 The things we, and your friends, do for well written smut, lmao.
I don't know if this has been said, yet, but I want a Regency, Bridgerton set Kingdon story. Long, obviously. Mel as a wallflower because of her autism, and Langdon falls in love with her.
Raised by her brother in Sweden, who refused to institutionalize their sister. Brought them both to London, thinking to get a better marriage for Melissa. Beyond wealthy, but never really confirms where their wealth came from — their brother killed their father and took over the family estates with the help of his father's steward because of his poor care of his his neurodivergent daughters.
Maybe Mel realizes that Pen was Whistledown, smart and attentive as she is, another wallflower, and instead of shit going down with Cressida, Mel takes over the enterprise when Pen settles down with Colin. Mel's new behavior simply draws Frank to her even closer, like a moth to a flame, but her brother warns him off before the first time he asks for her hand in a dance, known for his rakish behavior as he has been since his wife died several years ago. So Frank begins his seduction behind the scenes when her brother's back is turned.
I don't know if this has been said, yet, but I want a Regency, Bridgerton set Kingdon story. Long, obviously. Mel as a wallflower because of her autism, and Langdon falls in love with her.
I know most people have this idea of Mel as sexually powerful and in control of her own sexual fulfillment...but what if we DID go the other route? What if the comments from her sister DID allude that she was very much inexperienced and probably a virgin because she had all these touch sensitivities.
As the mother of two autistic daughters, one with severe stimulation sensitivities, I can completely see it. Even at that age. My oldest, wrapped up in school as she was, didn't even have her first kiss until 19. (Then did it all rather quickly after that, lol)
But imagine she and Langdon become those bestie of besties with sexual tension through the roof, and she admits she's never even kissed a man, let alone been intimate, because of what others see as a disability that infantilize her to them. But he knows her, so now, he sees it as HER, and he thinks it's beautiful.
And he starts to imagine her laid out on his bed, naked, and the sorts of things he could use on her body to pull sighs and sounds out of her. His tongue, a feather, a vibrator, ice. Lights just the way she needs them. Her white noise machine. He's not afraid of when she calls out "too much." He knows it'll probably be hours, weeks, before he ever gets his pants off, and he's never looked forward to anything more in his life. She knows, in theory, the pleasure spots of a woman, but would she like it if he ran his nails over her skull? If he sucked hickies into her shoulder blades? Her thighs?
He makes a bet with himself how long it takes until she drops into subspace their first time, the stimulation being too much for her, and makes sure they talk extensively beforehand about what sort of aftercare he has in mind so she isn't caught off guard as she's coming back to the surface in his arms, water bottle and protein bar on the bedside table, bubble bath already cooling.
I want an entire long fic of Frank both teaching Mel how to make love and turning her stimulation issues into foreplay.
If you are a fan fic writer and you're alright with people making fan art of your fic, reblog this 💚
A writer friend told me something that broke my heart a little bit today; they're going to quit publishing their fanfic.
My instant thought was that they had been trolled or attacked or that something terrible had happened in their life because this person is so passionate about their writing. It wasn't any of that. Engagement with their works has been going down, as it has for many of us. Comments are like gold dust a lot of the time, and just looking through the historical comment counts on old fics on ao3 demonstrates this trend very clearly. It was not simply the comments dropping off which caused them to decide to stop posting, however.
My friend came across a discord server for their fandom (I should point out here that their fandom interest and mine diverged a couple of years ago, we stay in touch but don't currently read each other's posts because I'm not into their fandom and they would rather gouge their eyes out with a wooden spoon than read anything Star Wars) and specifically to share fic in that fandom. They joined, because we all love a good fic rec, only to discover that their latest multichapter fic, which has almost no comments and very few kudos, is being hotly discussed in this server as one of the best stories ever. Not one of these people has bothered to say this to them on the fic. When they asked, none of participants could see the point in telling the author of the fic they apparently loved so much that they love it.
This discovery has absolutely destroyed my friend's love of sharing fic. They share because they love seeing other people's enjoyment, and fic writers do that through comments and kudos/reblogs/likes because we don't get paid. There is no literary critic writing a blog post/article about how amazing the story is for us to copy and keep/frame. There is no money from royalties. All we have are the words of the people reading our works.
Those people on that server could have taken five minutes of the time they spent gushing about how amazing my friend's story was to other people and used it to tell the one person guaranteed to want to hear that praise how much they loved it. They could have taken a moment to express their opinion to the person who spent hours upon hours plotting, writing, editing, and posting those chapters. Instead, they deprived my friend of thing that keeps them sharing their writing, and in the process have killed their love of it. My friend now feels used and unmotivated.
I won't be sharing a link to their fic, they said I could share their experience but not their identity. I know they plan to post one final chapter. I know they intend to express their hurt at being excluded from the praise for the thing they created, and I know they intend to announce that as a consequence they will not be posting for a long while, if at all.
So please, I beg you, don't hide your love of a story from the writer. It's just about the only thing we have.
I've been writing fanfics since 1990's and can confirm this phenomenon. It's almost like fans have become just consumers because consumers, like for example someone loving Star Wars, never comment directly to creators what they love. Sending fanmail to Lucas Film or Disney or Lucas himself? No, we come together in fan groups can gush about it. The creator(s) will never hear any of this.
Fandom creators are individuals, not soulless mega corporations. The only "payment" they receive is a direct feedback, to get to witness others in the same shared space find joy from their efforts.
And, if someone says that it's greedy to expect anything in return for a fanfic, then they can asks from themselves: why did this person share their creation with others?
Surely, if they wished nothing in return, why show it to anyone? Why share it? Why simply bother when the goal was not to get anything in return from the action from outside sources.
The moments that built our life.
Harry/Hermione/Loki
Blurb:
"You make little sense," I roll my eyes.
She leans into my side with a soft smile, nudging me with her elbow.
"I think you're afraid to finally put the moves on them because once you do, you know there's no going back. You're in love with them, Lokes. Time to God up and admit it."
OR
Loki finally finds his Happily Ever After.
After a bout of banter, an unexpected kidnapping, a ritual bonding, running away with his tail between his legs, experiencing the madness that is Harry Potter, and watching Hermione in action as she cleans up Harry's messes as usual.

TRICK OR TREAT PEEPS!!
🎃 Looks like the chances of me posting up a new chapter of That Rare Arctic Thunderstorm before Halloween are close to nill, but I feel treat-ish this spooky season, so...
Do you want me to post a lil snippet of a future scene here? (not knowing what chapter it'll be from)
Yes! Treat, please! I've been waiting so long for an update!
No! It's a trick! I'll wait for a real update.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Obviously, the more people this reaches, the better chances I do something. So do reblog, y'all! Poll's up till the 30th of October. 🎃
I hope Liam finds the peace that so eluded him in life. This shouldn't have been his ending. It shouldn't be anyone's ending.
This is why first responders NEED mental health training!!!! Because first responders were already on the scene. They had already spoken to Liam, or tried to at least, if what we have read is correct. So imagine going home that night being the person who had the chance to stop him, but didn't. The pressure of that responsibility, then add to it being a beloved celebrity...
First responders, at least the ones in America, need a hell of a lot more training then what they are given before they are thrown out into the wild. My thoughts go out to everyone in that tragic situation yesterday.
okay but re. that post about elseworlds!barry realizing that oliver woke up in bed with iris... if we coldflashed this, i feel that crossover event would have gone VERY differently because you're not telling me that leonard snart wouldn't have realized there was something wrong the second he woke up in bed with oliver queen
like picture this: you're leonard snart. you have years of trauma, hypervigilance, and experience surviving dangerous men (and, ultimately, being one). and you fall asleep next to barry, the man you love---who, don't get me wrong, IS dangerous, but is in most situations seemingly unaware of it; who appears nonthreatening and harmless unless riled, who, most of the time, just seems like a sweet and normal guy---and you wake up next to... something else. something that looks like barry, and sounds like barry... if you aren't paying attention.
this is a thing that walks without making a sound, like it has years of experience sneaking around and moves that way by default (like len does); it turns into a statue at the slightest sound and doesn't even seem to breathe. barry is always crackling with frenetic, fidgety energy, even when he sleeps; he has nightmares and thrashes until the covers are bunched up around him, but this thing slept stiff as a board, flat on its back without moving a muscle and barely wrinkled the sheets. this thing is wary, and quiet, and it moves like a killer, with a killer's instincts. and it's looking around their bedroom like it's never seen this room in its life
and len would KNOW.
I want this, if anyone writes this tag me pls
What's your ao3 tag
I will do my best to remember!! ❤️❤️
It's my 6 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
