Daryl and Carol have their first fight as a couple.
Carol pushes the slain walker off of Daryl, helping him back to his feet. She examines him frantically.
Daryl catches his breath.
Like the switch of a light, her mood changes to white hot anger. She shoves him hard and he fumbles, completely taken aback.
Carol: What the hell were you thinking!?
Daryl: You serious? Was thinkin’ that thing almost got you!
Carol: I told you, I had it!
Daryl: Didn’t look that way to me.
Carol: Well, you can’t do that!
Daryl: Can’t have your back? Pfft. Right.
Carol: I mean you can’t put yourself in danger for me!
Daryl: When you need me, damn right I will. Ain’t arguin’ about this.
He tries to stalk off. Carol blocks him.
Carol: I need you to stay alive, Daryl! If I lost you now…
The thought brings her to tears.
He looks at her severely.
Daryl: We can’t do this. Can’t walk on eggshells just ‘cause things are different between us now. Look where we are. Gonna have to face real bad shit sometimes, and it’s gonna be scary. I dunno what I’d do if I lost you either. But I ain’t thinkin about that. ‘Cause I have you now, and I’m gonna do everythin’ I can to keep you.
He extends his arms, lip quirking up in a smile.
Daryl: Unless you don’t want me anymore.
Carol glares at him, unable to resist. She steps into his embrace, and he wraps his arms around her tight, kissing the top of her head.
They pull apart. Daryl winces, rubbing his shoulder.
Daryl: Not so hard next time.
Carol: How do you know it wasn't the walker?
He wraps his arm around her.
