one of my personal favorite dichotomies in atla is how iroh, once the top strategist and highest-ranking general of the fire nation, now directs all his energy and considerable tactical experience towards attempting to keep his teenage nephew from throwing himself into life-threatening situations AND IROH REGULARLY FAILS TO PREVENT HIM FROM DOING SO.

he lead a six-hundred day siege and now iroh can't keep up with a sixteen-year-old armed with two swords and a passionate deathwish. zuko's motto is "act first, think never" and he's running rings around his uncle. it's like!!! who's gonna come out on top, iroh's west point education vs. zuko's deep and abiding commitment to always choosing the stupidest possible course of action, and zuko manages to win every single time

#once I visited/called a local station to see if I could bring some daycamp kids in to visit #they were SO nice and had like activity books and a lil presentation for the kids and everything #they got called out right as we were arriving and the kids thought it was the most amazing thing that they were visiting REAL firefighters #and of course they loved seeing the truck go roaring off with all its sirens #they came back really quickly too apparently it wasn't a big call or something #we also tried to take the kids to visit a police station. but the police said no and were deeply unhelpful

It is a joke, Argentinosaurus is not considered to be a bird. The joke kinda comes from the idea of crown- and stem-groups in cladistics.

Basically, the crown-group is a group of organisms that includes the common ancestor of all living members of a clade, and all descendants of that ancestor. So, “crown-birds” is the group that includes the ancestor and everything descended from the ancestor of all living birds.

Stem-groups, on the other hand, is a category that includes all extinct groups that are more closely related to the crown-group than to any other living organism. So, in relation to crown-birds, all dinosaurs and pterosaurs can be referred to as “stem-birds” because they are more closely related to birds than to birds’ closest living relatives, the crocodiles!

Stem-groups and crown-groups have fairly limited usefulness in actual taxonomic discussions, but it is genuinely a scientific term and it’s just fun to refer to all dinosaurs as “birds”. Triceratops is Pointy Bird, Tyrannosaurus is Bitey Bird, and clearly Argentinosaurus is DA BIGGEST BIRD
