if you're in the northern hemisphere and the outside is dark and grey and life feels very bleak - I encourage you to go drape all the fairy/christmas/whatever light strings that you can find inside your dwelling space. I have them on timers so they go on automatically every day, and I call them winter lights because they stay up until the end of february. Take a community action. Something which will do good in your community, whatever that might look like for your energy levels. Sign a petition. Join a group. Sign up for a newsletter so you can act on it later. Donate to a charity. Do something that benefits somebody else and reminds you that the world is bigger than you but smaller than world-changing things.

Take a personal action. Look after yourself somehow. Eat a vegetable you like. Light a candle. Wear that cosy cardigan. Take a shower. Watch that film you love. Read that new book. Eat the can of soup you secretly save for bad days.

for day 20 of my hyggetober ficlet challenge. today’s prompt is “fairy lights.”

Ezra/f!Reader, rated explicit. content warnings: kind of a sex pollen fic but more strictly defined it’s a “magical-creatures-made-us-do-it” fic, so please bear in mind all of the dub-con and mildly angsty implications of that. one instance of “good girl,” big dick ezra, a happy ending. minimal, hastily conducted fairy research. 2975 words (whoops). i love a good trope and this is my first attempt at something resembling sex pollen. i hope it is… coherent.

You’re not sure where you are. There was a path, clearly delineated, and then, suddenly there wasn’t.

Gresham House

He arrives as he always does; after dark, and unannounced, a monolith of a man at your kitchen door, covered by the night and a black hooded cloak.

It’s been an exhausting day. You admitted two new boarders this afternoon, including a retired Police Sergeant from Putney. He’d insisted you change his room three times, then offered you a mint from a grubby looking tin while watching you maliciously, as though he should be very pleased to see you choke on it. But he’s in bed now, as are all your paying guests, and you’re seated at the kitchen table with Ethel, sharing a pot of cocoa and the heat of the dying fire.

The fire’s much needed tonight. The city is frozen and the kitchen window panes are thick with ice that blurs your view of the world outside. Nevertheless, you both recognise the unmistakable profile of the man who walks by on his way to the door.

“Oh!” Ethel leaps to her feet.

“It’s alright. I’ll go,” you tell her evenly, and you take a moment to straighten your skirt, before letting him in.

“Good evening, Mister Djarin. Do come inside, it’s a bitter night.”

“It is. Thank you.” He knocks the snow from his boots before he enters. The action upsets the drape of his cloak, threatening to reveal a flash of silver, and you discreetly adjust your stance to obscure Ethel’s view.
