Summary: You push Kelly away and it’s for a good reason but Kelly Severide never gives up on those he loves.
A/N: Shocker, it’s another one-shot inspired by a song lol. This one took a little bit of a dramatic and sad turn tbh.

And I would go anywhere, I would do anything
I do what you want me to, you know that I would
“How dare you say that to me?” Kelly stood dumbfounded in the middle of his bedroom, the two of you in the middle of another fight.
“What? It’s not like anything I said wasn’t true.” Although that was a lie and you knew it. It was the heat of the moment and you couldn’t tell him what you were really upset about, so you threw out old accusations.
“We’ve talk about this. I’ve changed! I changed FOR YOU! TO BE WHAT YOU WANTED!” he was getting mad now, which was good right? The whole reason you picked this fight was to push him away and it was working.
“WHAT I WANTED!? All I wanted was you to love me and to be there for me Kelly.”
“You know that I love you Y/N.” He sighed at the end, tired of the fight.
“Do I? Do I know that? I needed you tonight and you, You. Weren’t Here.” You emphasized each word with a poke to his chest, while also revealing the root of the argument.
“Wait, what do you mean you needed me? Are you okay?” His tone shifted to concern, always putting others first.
“You know what don’t worry about it. I’m leaving. Goodbye Kelly.” Severide watched as you walked out of his bedroom and his life.
I want you to know that whenever you need me, yeah
Ooh, wherever you are, no matter how far
You know I'll be coming for you
It had been 3 days since you left Kelly’s apartment and he was kind of losing it. You weren’t answering his calls nor were you opening the door for him. He had a bad feeling, but Casey just told him he was overreacting.
“We’re going for a ride” He gestured the rest of squad and they all hopped in the truck.
He walked into Chicago Med and immediately went to Maggie.
“Have you seen Y/N?” Kelly was frantic and looked a little crazed at this point.
“She’s called in the past few shifts; says she has a bad head cold.” Maggie answered while walking away to deal with incoming patients.
“She needs space Kelly; you can at least give that to her.” Natalie piped up from behind a chart.
“Have you ever known Y/N to call in for a shift ever? She’s one of the most dedicated nurses here.” This earned him a few looks from the nurses around him, but he didn’t care. This wasn’t like you.
“Well she’s kind of dealing with a broken heart right now. Leave it alone Severide.” Nat walked away as Kelly gave her a look of desperation, willing anyone to believe him.
The next stop they made was to see Jay, but he told him the same thing the others had; you needed time and to leave it alone.
But he couldn’t not when he had this pit in his stomach.
I could walk through fire, I could feel it burning
And I could walk through fire, to get right back to you
And when the flames get higher, you know I'll get stronger
And baby, I could walk through fire
The house was responding to a bad fire, they really only had time for a short walkthrough to get as many victims out as they could before that had to get out themselves.
“I’m calling it, everyone out.” Boden spoke through the walkies.
Everyone was making their way out when Severide heard his name.
“Kelly!” it was faint and sounded like you, but he must have been hearing ghosts, that is until he heard it again. “Kelly!”
“Chief I can hear someone yelling my name.” He wasn’t really asking permission, but he would have rather have it beside disobeying a direct order.
The whole house knew what Severide was going through and Boden had been a little concerned of where his head was at.
“Everyone out, Severide!” He responded
But Kelly couldn’t listen, he just knew it was you. Disobeying his chief, he went further into the fire.
He found you duct taped to a chair; two bodies laid on the floor around you.
“Kelly” you spoke softly, the smoke getting into your lungs, you were barely conscious, but you knew you had to stay awake long enough to get his attention.
You felt him break the tape from your arms and lift you.
You were barely conscious when he made it to the ambulance with you.
“I’m sorry Kelly, they made me, I’m sorry.” Was the last thing you said before losing consciousness and being loaded into the ambulance.
Recently started a re-watch of the entire Chicago series because I got so behind on all of the shows that I’m just going to start from the beginning but hopefully I’ll be posting more content soon!!
“I saw the same thing happen to a friend of mine. A college friend, Corra. Her boyfriend, Rhys, he did a real number on her. And I didn’t do anything.”
