Hmmm⌠this really is the stupidest post Iâve seen today. Choosing to be a hero even if you havenât gone through trauma is a commendable choice. You donât have to lose your family and your soul to decide that standing up for others is worthwhile. Not every superhero needs a tragic backstory.
true, but you actually need⌠a compelling story at least.
Thatâs just your opinion, because wanting to be powerful and do good is an arc to me, one that Carol certainly has. The way sexism comes to play is in shaping her as a person, not as a backstory, and thatâs meaningful and compelling.
but why? why does Carol want to be âpowerful and good?â good in what sense? powerful for what purpose? To prove herself to Jude Law? Thatâs about as laughable as all the times she blasted him because she felt like it. sure, Carol is given a âgoalâ to straight out her memories and fight the evil green aliens, but she doesnât have any emotional or personal investment in it in any way. Her curiosity is basically what drives the majority of the movie, and youâre just as detached from her goals as she is. Itâs Mary Sue storytelling 101
