i know people feel weird about saying 'nonbinary people are nonbinary' because it's grammatically clumsy at first glance and hit the "and nonbinary people are valid" instead because that isn't but also nonbinary people are nonbinary. pretty essentially. trans men are men, trans women are women, and nonbinary people are nonbinary. and they aren't (universally) 'too powerful to be contained by the gender binary', they aren't (universally) 'creatures', they aren't (universally) 'incomprehensible'. why would you feel weird about saying 'nonbinary' when it fulfills the same purpose as these other phrases?

I'm from a community where we are strongly encouraged to get genetic testing before we make any decisions about having children.

This is because so many of us are carriers for tay-sachs, aka the incurable neurodegenerative disease that kills before age four.

I would also point out that requiring someone to have an acceptable reason for their abortion means that you are requiring them to disclose the reason for their abortion, no matter how personal and painful it is.

There isn’t a way to woke-ify gender segregation, btw. “Single gender/sex spaces” always have been and always will be exorsexist, misogynistic, intersexist, and transphobic.

And changing the language from “women only” to “non men only” to try to make it sound less TERF-y doesn’t make it any less bigoted. Think about it. There’s no way to actually enforce a space being strictly “female only/women only/non men only” without relying on regressive stereotypes or assumptions about the complexities of other people’s gender experiences (or lack thereof), and there’s no way to create a “female/women/non men only” space without implicitly inviting everyone in the space to go around questioning whether anyone coming to the space is “non man enough/woman enough” to exist there, creating an unwelcoming environment for anyone who isn’t strictly gender conforming.
