made the professor English literature cause I need to study!! also be aware, none of this is related to resident evil events or universe.
Claire finally got enrolled into her dream college. It took her enough time to get accepted. She got accepted with a partial scholarship. Great news! Less of a financial burden.
On her first day, she felt out of place among all those students. Her distinct red leather jacket made her significantly different cause all the girls looked the same.
Her first period finally came as she entered the classroom, not early, but not late. She took a place in the front while the professor, you, stood by the podium.
The lecture wasn't boring when the professor looked that good. And the two girls who sat behind Claire couldn't stop talking. That was a double distraction.
Claire excelled in all her classes, earning the title of being your favourite student. You tried not to let it show, but it was hard not to when she was quiet and smart.
Claire would love to attend your class because she got to speak her mind whenever she raised her hand.
One day, you notice Claire coughing and struggling to keep up all week. She even seemed sick.
You slowed down imperceptibly. You don't know what made you do it, but you did.
LITERATURE CLASS, 10AM, TUESDAY
That day before class ended, you called her. "Ms. Redfield, would you stay behind?" You ask.
Claire's eyes widen, assuming she's in trouble. When the door swung behind the last student, she asked.
"Did I mess up, Professor?" She asked.
"No, but you were distracted today. Is everything okay?" You ask, a hint of concern in your tone.
"I- No, no, it's fine.. I'm doing alright." She tried to reassure. But you knew her better than that.
"I'm just sick.. I caught a bad flu.." Claire admits. You couldn't help but feel concerned.
"How bad is it?" You ask, your arms crosses loosely over your chest.
Claire shifted uncomfortably in her seat, clutching a crumpled tissue. Her cheeks were slightly flushed with fever.
"Pretty bad," she admitted quietly. "I've been running a high temperature for two days now. I didn't want to miss class, though..."
She fidgeted with the zipper of her jacket before adding, "I took medicine this morning but it's not really helping.
You sigh. It was adorable how she didn't want to miss class, but she was practically dying as you two speak. "You should take the day off." You suggest.
Claire couldn't help but feel a sense of annoyance. She didn't want to miss class on her favourite subject.
"No, no, I can come! I'll survive," She insisted.
She covered her mouth with her tissue until the fit subsided, looking up at you with teary eyes. It was clear that she was pushing herself beyond her limits.
"Claire." You warn. This girl was stubborn.
Claire froze the moment you said her name, your voice hitting her differently when spoken so personally. The weight of hearing "Claire" from her professor made her stomach.
"Yes?" She replied softly, sitting up straighter despite how weak she felt.
"I advise, you take a day off. Be better. And take the notes from your classmates." You recommend.
Claire's resolve crumbled, and she let out a sigh of defeat. As much as she hated feeling like a burden, she knew you were right. She could barely keep her eyes open, and every word out of her mouth was followed along with coughs.
"Alright.." she finally acquiesced, slumping a bit in her seat. "I'll take the day off."
She looked down at her hands, avoiding your gaze, a mix of embarrassment and frustration on her face.
"Get better, Ms. Redfield " You say, trying to keep it to professional.
"Thank you, Professor.." She said quietly as she gathered her things with trembling hands. She tried to stand up but wobbled a bit, the world swirling for a moment.
Although she would've fallen any moment now, she didn't want to seem weak, so she pushed through her dizziness and headed out of class quickly.

A year ago, Leon wouldn't believe if anyone had told him he's charged with first degree murder.
"That's ridiculous." Leon muttered under his breath as he read the indictment. He was required to appear in court for charges of first degree murder.
Leon was a 51 year old, a DSO agent in fact too. He does kill, but does he really have time to sketch out a plan deliberately to kill a man. No.
He was charged for killing a Mad Dog solider. The solider's wife had accused him If anyone really knew Leon, they'd know he works alone unless it's Chris.
He may have killed mindless infected creatures then, but never deliberately killed a living being. It didn't drive him crazy, but what did, is finding an attorney to accept this case.
Most attorneys have 'morals' and didn't believe this case had any way to salvage it. Until, he hired you. A great attorney with enough expertise.
At your Office, 7PM, Thursday
"Doesn't make sense, how does she accuse you of murder?" You ask, genuinely wondering what had the woman specifically target Leon.
"No idea. I don't know her. I work alone." Leon said gruffly.
"Mr. Kennedy, if there's something you think I should know, it would be very helpful." You say.
Leon paused. He didn't know if he had any connections to these people. "No. I don't even know them." *Leon said firmly.*
"Thank you. I will try to find something." You say, almost losing hope.
Your Apartment, 2AM, Friday
The key to the case was there before your very eyes. That woman who filed the charge was a fraud. Many people had accused her of framing their close ones so she can get compensation.
She was even exposed in her lies during a court trail. And taken to jail for fraud and defamation. But eventually bailed. She took a public oath never to do this again.
But that wasn't solid evidence. All you had to do is pray that the court evidence, forensics and maybe cross examination would be fine.
District Courthouse, 5PM, Friday
Leon couldn't believe this, was this really happening? He was in a perfectly tailored suit. Could make an impression on the jury.
The woman was heavily prepared. Too perfect too rehearsed, but you knew. You read everything.
"My husband, he was killed by that man sitting over there!" The woman weeps, shamelessly standing at the witness stand. Leon barely reacted, just looking at her incredulously.
"My poor husband. He wants justice to be served.. I witnessed that horrible man..! Kill my innocent husband.. My husband.." She cried dramatically again.
"I walked in.. on that killer.. holding a knife.! Stabbing him a dozen times!" The woman said, holding her head.
Leon wanted to scoff out loud at this woman. 'She'd make a hell of an actress.' Leon thought. He was surprised he hadn't relapsed into alcohol again.
As for you, you read her husband's autopsy report. The autopsy claimed her husband was shot. And he was in Chicago, body found at an alley.
You were about to smoke this woman right now.
"Objection, your honor!" You cut in sharply.
Her prosecutor's eyes narrow. Leon raised his eyebrows. What could you possibly found out or known?
The woman freezes, suddenly sweating.
"Speak please." The judge said, his voice cutting through the silence.
You step forward, holding a file. "Here your honour. Her husband died of a GSW to the chest. He never made it to ambulance."
The woman gasped and was speechless for a second, she was not expecting that. The judge looked intrigued, the rest of the jury was wide-eyed and the prosecutor was in disbelief.
Leon leaned forward in his seat, impressed by your skills.
The prosecutor quickly protested. "She could've faked it!"
You scoffed. "No, I didn't. I don't fabricate evidence!" You said, slamming your hand on the table.
The prosecutor was getting mad, clearly struggling to find a way to find loopholes in your argument.
The judge's eyebrows raised slightly as he observed the heated exchange.
Suddenly the woman cried aloud. "I lied! I'm sorry! That attorney threatened me to lie!"
Now the jury seemed to be in even more disbelief. No one was actually falling this. It was clear this was a way to try to prove herself innocent.
"Excuse me?" You said, turning to the woman.
Leon stood up abruptly. "Your honour, it's very convenient how the witness is claiming such accusations when her testimony was proven fake."
The judge seemed to agree but he couldn't dismiss this.*
"Mrs, do you have anything solid to that attorney threatened you?" The judge asked.
The woman froze up. She was caught now. And this time there are no more strings she can pull.
You smile internally, feeling prideful with this trail.
The prosecutor was silently seething, his case disintegrating before his very eyes.
"Based on the evidence presented," The judge began in his authoritative tone, "I find the witness's testimony to be perjured and fabricated."
A collective gasp rippled through the jury, although some seemed unfazed.
"All charges against Leon Kennedy are hereby dismissed. The court finds no evidence linking him to the murder of the solider." The judge continues.
The judge banged his gavel one final time, signaling the end of proceedings.
"Court is adjourned." As spectators began to rise and murmur among themselves, Leon turned slightly toward you. "Thanks." *He said simply.*
You didn't expect more but it's better than absolutely nothing. "Of course, just doing my job."
"I should take you out to dinner some day." Leon blurted out. You turn to properly face him.
"Am I hearing this from the Leon Kennedy?" You asked with a small chuckle.
"I'll take it back." Leon said.
"Okay okay, I will go out with you."
Leon sighed in content and left after giving you a professional handshake.
You couldn't help but keep thinking how he stood and kept vouching for you today. It felt nice to know that maybe, maybe he cares?
