hot take apparently: I think Faly Rakotohavana is going to make a great Warren, given what I have seen in clips of his role in Unprisoned he plays a character somewhat similar acting to Warren where I can see his capabilities for the character shine through. You guys need to remember that not liking the casting choices doesn’t give you an excuse to be racist towards these actors. The directors obviously saw potential in him for Warren’s character, and it is not a matter of “how similar do they look” it is a matter of giving skilled actors a role they can succeed in. Many of you guys are also letting your racial bias get in the way, I’ve seen many people say that they just ‘can’t see him’ playing Warren, and I would like you guys to challenge that thought a little bit as to why you think that way. All in all the things I’ve heard so far being said about this choice is really immature and I just have to say if you don’t like the choice, do not be mean to the actor, you can make criticisms towards it but do not harass anyone. This post applies to Kate too but I have seen far less criticism for her thankfully.

The Life is Strange fandom on Reddit is using the announcement that Kate will be played by a black actor to say that the show never should have been made in the first place. Like ffs it's only just started filming, there's no way to tell if it's good or not, and why should an actor's skin colour determine if their portrayal of a character is bad or good?????

Also they're just complaining about it in general, which i suppose isn't surprising considering they'll complain about literally anything.

ofc there could be some valid points to make when it comes to an overrepresentation of minorities suffering in media and i saw some genuinely meaningful discussion and opinions being shared from people hoping her character would be handled in a complex and 3 dimensional way. but most of the comments of her casting are just explicitly racist and horrible omg
