Welcome! This post records the status and progress of my work expanding my Post-Endgame (MCU) series to “Like You’d Know How It Works”.
I left the cinema post-Endgame incredibly mad and disappointed. After I aired my immediate frustration with the movie in two One-Shots, I decided for my own peace of mind, I had to try and salvage the mess that was Endgame somehow, because I simply like the characters too much, not to. A week after I started writing, I published the first chapter on AO3. About a year later, I felt the need to expand on the original fix-it. I have and will continue to add to this timeline, writing different adventures that will mostly focus on Tony Stark and Peter Parker.
Genre: MCU fanfiction
The Fix-It
Like You’d Know How It Works (completed)
Setting: sets in right after the battle at the Compound is over, supersedes the concluding events of Endgame.
Premise: Straight after the battle is won - or lost, depending on your perspective - Peter tries to convince the Avengers to save Mr. Stark by going back into the Quantum Realm.
Tropes: time-travel, quantum realm, protective Peter
Mood: grief & loss, hope, family
Someone had organized this room at Metro General hospital for them to sit and talk. Sitting was not an option for Peter though. He couldn’t bear to sit. He couldn’t bear to have anyone look at his injuries either, not when there were more pressing matters to attend to.
“You said that whatever we do in the past will not change our present!” Peter’s fist hit the table with a crash. They simply weren’t listening. His face felt grimy and tight in places where the dirt from the battlefield stuck to the tears he had cried over Mr. Stark’s body. Maybe he should have thought of washing the traces off his face before confronting a few of the Avengers and Doctor Strange. It might have made him seem a little more collected. A little more rational. “That’s what you just said!”

Just Outside The Door (completed)
Setting: Days after Tony was brought back from the multiverse
Premise: Peter did it. He found his mentor and brought him back, but sometimes it all just seemed too good to be true. Sometimes, his mind played tricks on him and he just couldn’t sleep, wondering if he had really brought Mr. Stark back or if it had all just been a desperate dream.
There was only silence in his room now unless you were to count the frantic beat of his heart and the deep shaky breaths he sucked in and blew back out. It hadn’t even been a nightmare this time, not truly. He hadn’t really fallen asleep in the first place. Exhaustion was tugging at the edges of his consciousness and that’s where his thoughts had started to spiral.
Mr. Stark was okay. Peter was… he was pretty sure of that. He had succeeded, had brought him back home and now he was okay. But there was a little voice in the back of his head that kept nagging, that kept telling him that maybe… maybe he was wrong. Maybe it had all been a delusional dream, too good to be true, Peter wishing something into reality that was unobtainable. He had seen his mentor die after all. He had died right in front of him, the memory etched into his memory, right there whenever he closed his eyes. Dimensions, time travel… was that really real?

Nothing Left To Lose (in progress)
Setting: 2 weeks after Tony was brought back from the multiverse
Premise:
The reversal of the Snap added an additional 3.5 billion people back to Earth’s population. 3.5 billion more people to house somewhere, 3.5 billion mouths to be fed, 3.5 billion people who return to a world that was not expecting them to ever come back.
Tropes: food shortage, starvation, looting, blurred lines of good and evil; Whumptober 2020: No. 3
Mood: anger, desperation, conflicted who to help
Tony groaned, rolling his stiff neck from one side to the other as the gate clicked shut behind Pepper. “Remind me again… Why did we agree to this?”
Pepper didn’t bother to send him a scolding look as she wrapped the security seal around the gate’s locking mechanism. “Because we’re good neighbors?”
“We are?” He smelled like damp fur. When did wet fur and barn animals become his life? “Since when exactly? Was there a house meeting? Did I miss it?”
“Mh… do you need a reminder of the process of negotiation?” She took a step towards him, one hand twisted in his shirt pulling him close against her, their lips almost close enough to touch. “You smell like wet alpaca.”
He pulled in an affronted gasp. The hand that was still holding his shirt pushed him away from her, her lips stretched wide in amusement. “Come on, Cesar. Maybe I’ll remind you after a hot shower.”

Unnamed WIP (unpublished)
Setting: 4 months after Tony was brought back from the multiverse
Premise:
For months, Peter has been commuting between the city and the Stark’s remote cabin in the woods. But now that life in NYC has regained some normalcy, he really wants to show Morgan what the greatest city in the world has to offer.
Tropes: power outage, panic attack, PTSD; Whumptober 2020: No. 27
Nope. “Not going down that rabbit-hole, Parker,” he muttered to himself.
“What rabbit-hole?” Morgan was sitting opposite him, munching on the cookies Pepper had put out.
“Nevermind.” Peter scooped two tea spoons of sugar into his coffee, then added another one just to be safe.
“Mommy says coffee corrupts the soul.”
“Please, like you even know what ‘corrupt’ means….”
Morgan tilted her head to the side, just like her mom would do. “I know it’s not nice.”
Peter gave her a look. “Well, your dad says it’s the elixir of life.” And Mr. Stark would know. Peter gave his head one hard shake. Tony. Tony would know. One sip of the black brew and Peter’s teeth hurt. Definitely too much sugar. “Okay, remember what we talked about?”
Morgan sat up straight, her eyes wide. “Ask mommy first!”
“That’s right! Make sure you use those puppy eyes, too.” Morgan nodded along enthusiastically while he quickly nicked her glass of milk and poured a generous potion of it into his mug. “We wait till, you know, till Tony’s gone downstairs or something and then—”
“And then you’ll ask me what?”

Christmas Eve - At Peace (completed)
Setting: 5 months after Tony was brought back from the multiverse
Premise:
Just a couple of months after they defeated Thanos, Tony and Pepper throw a Christmas party. Instead of a partying kid, Tony finds his Spiderling outside in the snow at the grave he has been trying to ignore ever exists.
Tropes: anger and grief, blame and fear, no prompt
Mood: wholesome, family, frustration
Tony narrowed his eyes at him. "I mean it!" For good measure, he took a healthy gulp from the cup, positively burning his throat in the process. But it wasn't until Harley threw his hands in the air and turned his back in defeat - for now - that Tony allowed his face to cringe at the sting. Those little trouble makers were not helping with his heart condition. Speaking of trouble... "Where is Peter?"
Harley crossed his arms in front of himself, his mind clearly brooding on a new strategy. "No clue."
Tony's next sip of the hot wine was a lot smoother than the first. "What do you mean, no clue?"
"It generally means that the person doesn't have any information about the subject that you are—"
"Alright, short stuff..." Tony's eyes were searching the room but the little spider was nowhere to be seen. "A bit less of the asshole routine please?"
"Listen, if you want me to babysit, same rules apply as they do for Morgan." Brazen in his brattiness, the little shit ladled a good helping of mulled wine into a new cup. "I'll need a heads-up and generous compensation that I'm happy to re-negoti— Hey!"
Harley tried to hold on to the cup that Tony once again just plucked from his hands. "You've had enough of this!"
"That one is for Rhodey," the boy scowled.
Chapters 1/1 | 3.8 K | Teen and Up
The Winter Air (completed)
Setting: 6 months after Tony was brought back from the multiverse
Premise:
Tony, Peter, and Morgan spent a winter day outside the Stark residence.
Well, it wasn’t that easy. Because things were apparently never just easy in the life of one Peter Parker. Turned out, there were still some assholes out there. Not the Thanos-kind. Not for now at least. The regular kind though and Peter for one saw absolutely no reason as to why anything should have changed in his responsibility to stop them from being assholes.
His aunt somehow disagreed more often than she didn’t. Annoyingly now though, she managed to drag Mr. Stark to her side a lot more than she used to, too.
Peter shook his head at himself. Tony. T-O-N-Y. It wasn’t that hard, was it? He still slipped up every so often. But as much as that bugged him, it was the others who bugged him even more. Colonel Rhodes and Hawkeye among them the most willing to tease Peter about it. Him, and Tony too, for his mentor never commented on it with more than a crooked smile. When it was just the two of them, that was often the only indication for Peter, that he had said it again.
It made the times when it really was just them so enjoyable. A new ease between them. They had never had this, this kind of bonding. Sure, they’d spent time together before everything had gone downhill on their little space adventure, in the lab or on a normal earth-bound mission. Not like this though, not like Peter staying over at the Stark residence for a few days at a time. Not like him sliding along-side Morgan on the ice on the lake, trying to catch Tony. Not like Morgan falling over and taking Tony right with her and the way Peter’s stomach hurt from laughing so hard when Mr. Stark’s sweet little Morguna drowsed him with two full hands of snow and he just hadn’t seen it coming.

Unnamed Multichapter WIP (unpublished)
Setting: picks up where The Winter Air ended, 6 months after Tony was brought back from the multiverse
Premise:
First time all of the Avengers come together after the Snap was reversed. With Tony retired, Peter has to find his place in the team and learn to work with the other Avengers without Tony. Tensions are running high with the events of Civil War still largely unresolved and lingering resentments stemming from Peter’s multidimensional rescue mission to save Tony.
Tropes: Avengers mission, mistrust, growing as a team; Whumptober 2020: No.7
Tony’s eyes went wide. Was it possible that…
“Hey, FRI?”
“Good morning, boss. It’s 10:16 am on February 5th, 2024. The temperature outside is—”
“Yeah, just… can you stop for a moment?” He waved her off. “Send Dory out to the lake, would you. There’s some stuff still lying out there on the ice.”
“Right away, Sir.”
Tony watched as the little blue drone circled the lake, getting closer and closer to what he was sure were the Spiderling’s clothes still lying out there, where he had taken them off to—
“Hey, what are you doing out of bed!”
Despite himself, he twitched as Pepper made her way into the room. She had pushed the door open with her hip, balancing his breakfast on a large wooden tablet.
“Here, let me—” Tony stepped towards her, arms at the ready to take the tablet but she held it out of his reach.
“What do you think you’re doing? Get back in that bed!”

There... And Back Again (in progress)
Setting: about a year after Tony was brought back to life
Premise: The Starks drive upstate to the old Mansion where Tony grew up. To Tony’s horror, the trip takes him and the kids a lot further down memory lane than anyone could have predicted.
Tropes: time travel, Howard Stark’s A++ parenting; Febuwhum2021 Day 12 - Who Are You
“Pete, seriously…” Tony looked up into the review mirror trying to catch his eye. “Can you not? I don’t want Morgan up all night, terrified of some dumb ghosts.”
“Come on, it’s just a story, Tony. Morgan knows I made it all up, right?” Peter winked at her, then wiggled his eyebrows in a way that seemed kind of familiar.
“Yeah, daddy.” But Morgan was full-on ignoring Tony, her eyes on Peter trying to imitate the wink and wiggly eyebrows he had just sent her way. “It’s just a story.”
He could do little more than groan as Peter continued to spin a tale of spirits and witches, ancient pacts and promises that had to be kept, ransoms that the spirits had vowed to retrieve.
“It was a night very much like tonight,” Peter continued, his voice low and full of dreadful foreboding, “that the witches broke that pact they had signed with the blood of the innocent…”
“Morgan’s gasp morphed into a giddy giggle while Tony could only rub a hand across his brow and mumbled, "Blood of the innocent, give me a fucking break…”

Are We Out Of The Woods Yet?, (completed)
Setting: 4 years after Tony was brought back from the multiverse
Premise:
Peter takes Morgan into the depths of a National Park so she can collect samples for a biology project.
“There are so many reasons why online classes are better than going to school.”
Peter shook his head. “And there are plenty of reasons why learning in school with other students is preferable. How it helps retain the material better than—”
Morgan groaned without even looking at him, her nose in the air, eyes on the leafy trees above them. “You can learn the same things at home, only then you could have dinner at night with us instead of in your stinky room in Boston.”
“Hey,” he craned his neck to see where she went, then walked after her. “My room doesn’t stink.”
“It’s a boy’s room.” She said it like that alone was a valid argument, when it couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, the girl’s dorms he had been in—
I feel like Tony’s ego is the most legendary cryptid in the MCU
Because I heard reports of it for years. The images of it are usually blurred and easily dismissed as something else to anyone with a pair of eyes and it has yet to actually be proven to factually exist.
I think a lot of people believe Tony is arrogant because of his flippant attitude and tongue-in-cheek blustering, but many of his actions (which speak louder than words) demonstrate a remarkable lack of ego.
Makes Pepper Potts CEO of Stark Industries [he trusts her more than himself to run his company]
“Dead for almost 20 years, and still taking me to school.” [could take credit for the New Element, but emphasizes he ‘re’discovered it]
Lays on the wire in The Avengers to save New York City when redirecting the nuclear bomb into the wormhole [after Steve said Tony isn’t the kind of man to do that]
“I…I’m just a man in a can.” [said while vulnerable]
“Actually, he’s the boss. [points to Steve] I just pay for everything and design everything, make everyone look cooler.”
“Like the old man said. Together.”
“Ultron. My fault.” [takes sole accountability for the Sokovia disaster, even though Bruce also helped]
The entirety of Civil War in general. Tony believes that the Avengers should have oversight. Handing authority of the Avengers to a Council is not the action of an egoist who thinks he’s always right (!!!) He’s basically admitting they can, and have, made mistakes and need to be put in check.
Asks Peter for a plan on how to rescue Strange in infinity War – and that’s the plan they use.
Goes with Quill’s plan on Titan in Infinity War, even though he didn’t seem to have a high opinion of the guardians.
Tries to stop Strange from handing over the Time Stone in Infinity War, even though that’s what spared his life.
I mean, time and time again, Tony tries to be a team player, listens to others, and exhibits self-deprecating behavior. When he was dying in Iron Man 2, he went on a destructive binge to force everyone who loved him away so they wouldn’t care when he was gone. I mean… !??!?!? Like, ego? Where!?
Iron Man is more than a suit of armor. It’s a metaphor for who Tony Stark is as a person: cold and hard on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. He uses his arrogance as a shield to protect himself–to deceive people into thinking he’s not as vulnerable as he really is.
It reminds me of this quote:
“The difference between ‘Iron Man’ and some other movies is that there’s no spider bite; there’s no magic bullet where a hero is born. We had to build him. We wanted people to remember that there’s a person inside that suit, and it will hurt if he falls.”
It boggles me when that’s lost on some. Like, yeah, Tony’s a messy character, and he’s certainly a hard pill to swallow because he can be downright acrimonious, but he feels so deeply. He’s easily wounded. He’s one of the most emotionally-driven superheroes. That’s why everything he’s done has taken such a toll on him. It’s why he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. It’s why he has anxiety attacks. He wants so badly to do good and save the people he loves – even at the cost of his own sanity and comfort. Every time he fails, it destroys more and more of what little self-worth he has.
Hey first of all thanks for lal the amazing stories you've wrote and next I just really want to know if we can expect the sequel of The Winter Air. Like I've been waiting for it xD I just want to know if you're gonna post it?? Or maybe some other stories before :3 thanks
First of all, thank you!! Always happy to hear that you enjoy my stories 🥰
I have been writing on the Winter Air sequel! Buttt, I also realize for some of the things I want to put in to make sense, I'll have to write another story first 😅
It'll be a 5+1 type which is fun cause I've never done one!
I'm also aiming to finish "Out of Options" as well as "Family Business" before I publish either.
(In the meantime I've also been brainstorming and writing snippets for a post-NWH story, a post CA:CW Peter & Bucky + Stony story, an IronStrange Bio!Dad story as well as a sequel to "If They Knew All About You" 😬😬)
Sooo, yeah, I know I've not been posting a lot but that's mostly cause I'm apparently incapable of sticking with just one atory idea 😅
Okay, so I just saw a tiktok saying "hey, ao3 is not tiktok. Do not censor words, especially in the tags." I stg people are losing brain cells. The tiktoker then proceeded to show an example of the tag they saw which was:
"s..cidal ideation"
I don't know who needs to, once again, hear this, but you are stopping the tagging system, and filtration system from working.
People censor words on platforms like tiktok to stop the algorithm from picking up their video and automatically taking it down or restricting it.
A tagging system works so that other people can easily filter the content they do and don't want to see. So if some had "suicidal ideation" in their filtered tags so that they won't see things containing that subject matter, by censoring the word suicidal, you have now stopped the tagging/filtration system from working and now the individual is going to see content that they had made sure to filter out.
Please stop censoring words and/or phrases. Especially in tags. You are literally stopping the system from working and doing its job. Ao3 (and Tumblr) is not tiktok. The tags are there for a reason. Don't censor them.

A snap.

The End of Infinity (909k, Incomplete) by FriendlyNeighborhoodFangirls
In 2023, the battle for the universe has been won. At a cost no one can forget, the fight is over—for all but one.
Stephen Strange has an idea. An impossible idea spanning dimensions and timelines, life and death, and the lines of good and evil. But he's played impossible odds before—perhaps he never stopped.
All that Loki wanted was to fight, one last time, for the fate of his universe. So when he finds himself fighting for another, crashing into the past, he has a few intended words for the wizard that forced him there but not before he finds a boy. Or, more accurately, before the boy finds him.
Peter Parker has been waiting for the next mission. He just doesn't expect it to come from the future, armed with a ridiculous story demanding a ridiculous quest. And he doesn't expect to be able to tell Mr Stark.
Tony Stark is trying to rebuild from the Civil War, knowing that someday, something will come that he needs to be ready for. And he doesn't know it yet, but two universes are trying to rebuild around him, and that something is already here.
Seven Stones. Five dead. Two universes. And one impossible quest to tie it all back together.
Time Will Tell (166k) by @tonystarkissistist
So... some weird stuff is going on. First the dreams, then Peter calls him Dad, and now everyone is convinced Peter is his illegitimate son. What a day.

Endgame 2.0 (43k) by sketchibilitea
Peter Parker remembers it all.
Remembers aliens, Titan, Thanos, the stones.
Remembers every atom in his body splitting, and the agony that followed. He Remembers looking up at his mentor's grief-stricken eyes and muttering a small 'I'm sorry' before he was one with the wind.
He was gone. But now he has the chance to take that all back.
Today, Peter Parker can make a difference.

Spiegel im Spiegel (31k) by sahiya
"Ah HA!” Tony exclaimed, throwing his arms up. “So the multiverse is real! Rhodey and I used to argue about that at MIT, but I never thought I’d actually win the bet. Though it might be a little tough to collect on it now. Unless... does this universe have a Rhodey? Does this universe have a me? Can I meet myself?”
“This universe does indeed have a Colonel James Rhodes,” Strange said. “And it also possesses its own version of yourself. But no, you can’t meet him.”
“Why not?” Tony demanded. “Would it implode the universe? Destroy the space-time continuum?”
“None of that. You cannot meet him because this universe’s Tony Stark has been dead for fifteen months.”
Part 1 of Spiegel im Spiegel
Through Space (30k) by graveltotempo
The Universe needs the Infinity Stones to survive: Thanos, in his complete ignorance, does not understand this in any of the 14,000,605 futures Doctor Strange sees, does not see this in any of the parallel Universes in which he goes looking for the stones. So, Doctor Strange makes the biggest gamble of his life, and puts all his eggs in one basket. And then hands the basket into the hands that, across time and through space, will always charge themselves with the protection of the Earth.

Racing through time and space, Stephen must find a way to save the universe. Tony must find a way to save Stephen.
surprise! sorry I disappeared I'm back now, (mostly). enjoy reading and don't forget to leave and kudos!
Other fic writers who’ve written multichaps, if you’re like me, you had no idea just how rare your work is. I had no idea that LT at 187k was one of 0.4% of the archive.
How many AO3 fanworks are novel length or longer? from toastystats:
Yay, thank you for the tag! I haven't done one of these in a long time!
7) Favorite AO3 tag:
That is a good question... I have recently been reading a bit more again instead of writing. For some reason my mind is incapable of doing both at the same time 😅😅
I'd say reading, it's the good old Bio!Son tag (Peter Parker is Tony Stark's Biological Child). I love those stories, it's why I started writing If The Knew in the first place, cause I was craving more of that at a time when there wasn't an abundance of it 😇
8) How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?
Usually a mix of either song titles or an important line of the story. Not sure I'm particularily good at it (especially since I keep asking @spagbol99 & @tufteatsunglasses for help on those) 😅
I do love alliterations in my titles, which is why Out Of Options is one that I like most. I alsk use a lot of alliterations in my chapter titles!
1. When you go on AO3 there may be works you don’t like. You might click on a story after reading the summary and tags and think ‘huh this sounds good,’ but after reading the first part, it’s not what you expect. More so, you hate it. That’s okay. Stories aren’t for everyone. What is not okay is leaving negative comments and harassing authors for work they share for free. Let me repeat that. We do this for FREE.
If you don’t like a story, click off it. I don’t care how much you dislike it and how opinionated you feel. Click off it. Don’t like. Don’t read. And definitely do not comment. Us writers do not share our work for hate. We share it because we want others to enjoy our work and get a confidence boost in the form of kudos and comments. POSITIVE COMMENTS.
If this still baffles you, here’s some tips:
1. You can filter out tags you don’t like on AO3.
2. If you go on a work that you believe is incorrectly tagged, click off it. You might think it’s incorrectly tagged after 1 chapter of (?), but that is you jumping to conclusions.
3. Even if it is incorrectly tagged, click off it. It is never okay to leave hate.
Life is short. Be kind. Treat others how you’d like to be treated. Don’t be a dick.
Highly hope OP doesnt reblog this because im too tired to fight, but i felt this to be a good pushing off point to talk about this
Theres people calling the violent and un-necessary and while yes i believe it was, it was one slap yall, and it didnt even leave a bruise
This is kind of ridiculous not going to lie. im not big on hitting people, but if you made a joke about my husbands illness, especially one hes expressed discomfort about, i would hit you too. that is not cool.
We saw a grown man hit another grown man. we saw a grown man stand up for his wife against another grown man who made in inappropriate joke. yall are acting like he pulled a knife out and stabbed him. He had a very human reaction. Ive been slapped before. There was no drama, she just didnt get a smore that day. ive slapped somebody before. we were seperated and that was that.
Its not like he goes around hitting people 24/7. i dont like using this term often, but some of yall really need to grow a pair. And dont even get me started on that racist ass punishment- he should face some repercussion but yeesh they needa wake up and smell the real world
You saw a grown man displaying toxic masculinity and excusing it by "love" live in front of a million people audience.
Any way you want to argue this away, like the joke was in bad taste or Chris Rock should have known about every audience members' medical history, is frankly cringeworthy.
He didn't have a "human" moment. I feel sorry for the people who think this is "normal" behaviour in today's society. I shudder to think what kind of people you all hang out with.
I wonder, do you also tell your girlfriends that when their husband or boyfriend hits them because they made a hurtful joke that they shouldn't act like it was a serious offence, like he didn't pull out a knife, did he? Or is hitting people only okay between men, cause they "can take it"?
You do have some good points but Chris Rock and Will Smith aren't dating- if Will Smith hit his wife on stage that would be a completely different issue because you're never supposed to hurt your partner, but it wasn't his wife on stage, It was Chris.
Yes, it was a bad action that Will Smith did in a spurt of anger but if someone said anything bad about my wife I don't think a slap would be the worst thing they've got coming and of course, it'd be wrong but he loves his wife just as much as I love my own so I do understand where he's coming from.
I don't think it's toxic masculinity at all (although fighting is more normalized between men so I do get where you're coming from), personally, I think it's a form of protecting his loved one. Again the protector role is what society frames as a 'man's job' but everyone is protective over someone they love so trying to say that this is just a form of toxic masculinity is avoiding the complex mixture of human emotions.
I'm not condoning violence in any way I simply just feel that there's a lot more than good/bad when it comes to this situation.
“I think it’s a form of protecting his loved one.“
Well, yeah, protecting his loved one by physically assaulting another man. The fact that this is a sterotype doesn’t mean it’s not toxic. Social standards can be tocix no matter how normalized they are.
And when it comes to toxic masculinity, it doesn’t just include how men act towards women, it’s also about the behaviour that is “expected” of men so they can display themselves “manly”. That punching someone to “protect” a loved one means they are “strong”. That is in fact the toxic part. That man are expected to act a certain way to be masculine which is of course ridiculous because it puts forward a radical narrow stereotyp of what is masculine when - like you say - there is a lot more compleyxity to it.
Yes, emotions are complex too. But like I said before, no man I know has had to display his complex emotions by assaulting someone else. Honestly, I’d find it insulting for men that people seem to think that they are incapable to control their own behaviour and asking them not act out agressively is just too much to ask.
Isn’t that the same excuse they use when women get raped because they wore a short skirt? That you can’t expect men not to react when they see some skin?
It’s just not acceptable behaviour, no matter how you look at it and I just think it’s sad to use the “boys will be boys” excuse for assaulting someone live on stage in front of a million people audience. 🤷🏻♀️
And honestly, I’m glad that there were consequences. Behaving like that should not be tolerated.
'And honestly, I’m glad that there were consequences. Behaving like that should not be tolerated.' -you
I can't be bothered fighting you and if I did I'd just copy and paste what iI said before but what I do need you to know is that the punishment wasn't fair.
Why do I say this you may ask? well it stems from the fact that non of the white actors who have been accused multiple times (and I mean some of these people have been accused by 5 or more people) of sexual assault - yeah they didn't just hit an asshole on live television (which was fun to watch) they sexually assaulted someone
and no actions were taken against them even with many of the people having evidence to support their claims.
It can't be a good fucking consequence if it's built upon racism
Second, you’re comparing behaviour that’s criminal and needs to be decided with the available evidence by a court with something that happened at the Academy’s own event on live TV for millions of people to see.
Third, what’s the alternative? We never ask for consequences for unacceptable behavior because other people didn’t have to suffer consequences in the past? The board of the Academy changed. The code of conduct changed. You’re comparing apples and oranges.
Like I have already pointed out in the original post: Yes, there was a lot of behaviour by rich assholes that have not had (sufficient) consequences in the past. Getting better means, not letting things slide anymore.
If you think, that people would have been fine with Ryan Goslin getting up on stage and assaulting Ricky Gervais instead, I honestly don’t know what to tell you, because I just think that’s not true.
But you know what wouldn’t have happened? Will Smith wouldn’t have done this to Ricky Gervais. If anything, the one suffering from society’s racism here is Chris Rock, not Will Smith.
Will Smith has been blessed with ridiculous rich people privilege. Any “regular” person behaving like this would have been immediately escorted out of the building if not arrested.
Ah yes comparing criminal behaviour to something that happened at the academy awards I do wonder who's done that before
btw the sexual assaulters are still allowed to attend the academy awards and even win awards- so yeah I do want them to start handing out punishments but I think they should have started with the criminals instead of a guy who lightly tapped someone on the face.
Also, Ricky Gervais is an asshole I never thought I'd support Ryan Goslin in anything but here we are- I would thank the dude if he hit Ricky Gervais
And also he's white so...yeah probably would have been sued (again Ricky Gervais is a dick) but the academy would have looked at him and went- 'yeah that's fine come back next year' or some other stupid shit that they always do.
Of course any non-rich person would get kicked out THAT'S WHY WE SAY EAT THE RICH! and also why watching rich people fight is 20x funnier then the watching the everyday working-class person fight
If you think what you saw is someone "lightly tap someone else's face" I shudder to think what kind of aggression you have normalized for yourself.
We seem to agree that we both would have liked it if people who have displayed criminal behaviour in the past would have suffered consequences for it but you seem to be confused as to why it's different when this behaviour was displayed live on stage in front of a million people audience at an Academy event or, you know, not.
Where we're at an impass is, that you seem to want for that pattern of "no consequences for rich assholes" to continue into the future while I like that somene who assaulted someone else live on stage should experiences the consequences of their actions.
Seems like our moral codes will not align on this.
Don’t respond to this I can’t be bothered with this anymore let’s go with the moral code thing but let’s get one thing straight
I want all rich people to suffer in hell as we ravage through their homes and defeat the patriarchy- I don’t want rich people to exist because as long as they do our justice system will be flawed and malleable
That’s why I like to say ‘eat the rich’ instead of throwing them in jail where they can make bail 1000x over and higher a sketchy lawyer to make it all go away
We’re all against the rich here we just have different views
(Also yeah I went to a British secondary school so aggression is majorly part of my childhood- although it was also the same in my American middle and high school so I guess blame the school systems)
