you get a comment on tumblr. it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a DM. it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a message on instagram. its a bot trying to scam you. you're an author and you get an email telling you how much they loved your book and want to showcase it at their bookclub. it's a bot trying to scam you (and it uses bad AI to pretend it knows your story). you get a comment on ao3 saying how much they love your fic - and they made you fanart!! it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a hate comment on ao3 which insults your writing or calls you a monster for writing something "problematic". it's a bot. but at least that one isn't trying to scam you.

there's just something really cruel and insidious about this wave of scams going after creatives. You get an email and think someone genuinely loved what you made but - no. It's another scam. It's someone trying to trick you into sending them money. On AO3, it might literally just be a bot someone made specifically to be a hateful little shit.

putting the stuff you've made out there for everyone to see is hard and scary and we're all just bumping around looking for a bit of appreciation and love and connection and these bastards are using that to try to rob us. I hate it.

Prompt for Bad things happen bingo: Skywarp and rumble losing a bet?

“So TC,” Skywarp purred as he came up beside his blue trinemate, “wanna take a bet?”

“Skywarp, we are in the middle of a battle,” Thundercracker said, “now is not the time for silly bets!”

“Just a little one,” Skywarp whined, “please!”

“Are we doing a bet,” Rumble said as he ran up to the two seekers.

“TC and I are having a bet,” Skywarp hissed, “you can buzz off!”

“I never agreed to a bet,” Thundercracker said.

“I wanna join!” Rumble whined, “let me join, or I’ll tell Soundwave that you’re betting on the battlefield!”

“Fine, you can join!” Skywarp huffed, before turning towards Thundercracker, “I bet that Starscream is going for a power grab! He’s going to attack Megatron!”

“I’ll bet on that!” Rumble yelled, “he’s been hold up in his lab, he’s always plotting stuff in there!”

Thundercracker smiled, like he knew something that they didn’t, “I’ll take that bet. I think he’s planning something else. If I win, you have to take all my monitor shifts for the next month.”

“And if we win,” Skywarp said, “you have to make us energon candies!”

“I want Energon candy! I’ll accept!” Rumble squealed.

“Alright, just make sure that we get enough energon,” Thundercracker said. The two ran off and Thundercracker rolled his optics. If the two had been paying attention, Starscream was stareing intently at Skyfire, not Megatron.

Thundercracker smiled as he came up to Skywarp and Rumble, a data pad in his servos. It contained all his monitor shifts for the next Earth month.

“Screamer was totally ready for a power move,” Rumble grumbled, “he was totally going to attack Megs before Skyfire showed up!”

“He’s been in a whole mood,” Skywarp grumbled, “he should have made a power move.”

“You know what else Starscream uses his lab for?” Thundercracker asked, knowing the answer already, “science. Starscream’s been stuck on a problem with his underwater energon generator for weeks. Everyone knows that Starscream and Skyfire run off every now and again to do science together. Especially when they’re stuck on a problem.”

“But-but he was moody,” Rumble whined, “he always makes a power grab when he’s moody.”

“Starscream was frustrated moody, not ‘nobody is respecting me’ moody,” Thundercracker said as he handed the data pad over to Skywarp. “This has my shifts for the next month, there’s an even number so no one will have an extra shift over the other.” Skywarp’s wings drooped and Rumble slouched. The two muttered about what shifts they were going to take. Thundercracker smiled, he was going to have a lot of time to write, and walk Buster.

A bad things happen bingo for the Elite trine?

Thundercracker petted Starscream’s wings as his trine leader laid next to him. On the other side of Starscream, Skywarp was snoring away. It was a rare moment of peace for them. There was no Megatron to worry about, no blasterfire aimed at them. Starscream’s optics shuttered off and his vents slowed. It was almost impossible to get Starscream to recharge at night. Most of the time, it was just him and Skywarp.

Well, he made it look like him and Skywarp were there all night. He was sneaking out to a hideout most nights to give Jazz information on upcoming raids. While he looked like one of the more loyal members of his trine, it was far from the truth.

He knew that Megatron was behind the bombing on Vos, and how he was manipulating the other seekers with doctored evidence of the Autobots doing the deed. Ever since then, he had been working as a spy. Being the trine mate to the second in command gave him access to information the no other spy could acquire easily.

One thing he didn’t expect to do was get attached to Skywarp and Starscream. At first, he found the two annoying and screechy. Overtime, he saw their behavior for what it was worth. Starscream had been hurt so badly by everyone and everything around him, he was trying to save himself from being hurt again. Skywarp’s pranks were him just trying to cope with the horrors of war.

It would break both of their sparks to know that their trine mate was a traitor. That he was always an Autobot. That every secret they confessed to him could be in some Autobot report. It would break his spark as much as theirs when he was forced to betray them. Maybe he could convince them to join him, join the Autobots in creating a new and better cybertron.

Soundwave scowled at the monitor. At this hour no one was awake, except for himself. There should be absolutely no one roaming the halls. Most mechs knew better than to break curfew. Switching to a camera with a better view, the cassette player could make out a pair of blue wings.

Thundercracker was the only one who matched the description of the mech on the monitor. Soundwave silently wondered why the blue seeker would be out this late. Nothing good, but was it a late night flight or treason. The cassette player had to find out.

"Ravage: eject." Soundwave said. The cat cassette jumped out of his loading dock, glaring at her creator. Soundwave knew that she didn't appreciate being woken up.

"Ravage: follow Thundercracker." Soundwave in structed. Ravage let out a little hiss but ran off. Soundwave started to right up a report for the cassette's recon mission. If the blue seeker was betraying them and not going out for some late night excursion, then this had to be by the book. Treason was not something to be taken lightly.

Hollywood Jem headcanon:

Jem's Oscar nomination was a publicity stunt by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences because viewership had been on the decline and thought maybe nominating a popular pop star would attract attention.

While I think Jem probaly acted decently enough with what she given, the content they showed us did not scream "Oscar bait".

It was also her very first movie role. I'm admittedly not an expert, but I think it's extremely rare for an actor/actress to be even nominated on their first role, let alone win.

The Universe had decided it would start over.

Which of course meant the current one was kaput.

No one know understood why they knew this, but it was the truth nonetheless. No cop-outs or last minutes saves this time.

Skyfire held out his servo to Starscream.

Starscream looked around, bit his lip, hesitated, but then took his servo.

They found themselves suddenly remembering a thousand different memories:

Skyfire always remembering that Starscream loved the ruby/sapphire mix energon bon-bons and never once trying to subsitute garnet energon bon-bons for them (ruby/sapphire blend was NOT the same flavor as garnet, no matter what anyone else said)

Skyfires love of snacking on the medium size shards of Rose Quartz (the flavor really came through when the shards were medium size, Skyfire thought)

The time they both came to the lab and discovered that Wheeljack had spent the night with his glossa accidently glued to the work bench (shortly after this incindent, he started wearing a face shield full time)

Babysitting Skyfire's neglected twin cousins, Jetfire and Jetstorm.

Kissing in front of Starscream's bigoted, estranged siblings.

Genvo taking them out for a night bar-hopping that had resulted in the semi-legal use of fireworks before their doomed mission to Earth.

"I wish I could have had the courage to offer you my servo when we still had time..." Coolant was generously leaking out of Skyfire's optics.

"Don't be a fool Skyfire, we both know I wouldn't have brave enough to have taken it." Some of Skyfire's coolant must have landed on Starscream's face, for it was suddenly very wet.

I want another chance to make it work was the last wish of this universe as a bright white light consumed it.

Therapist Beachcomber

"Are you doing this to get the RUH-demption, Beachcomber?" Warpath had asked when he learned of Beachcomber's plans.

"Because, Zee-Wow, yuh don't need it! You Ker-Pow, don't need to feel guilt about being a pacifist during the war! You should Yuh-able to spend peacetime Com-MUNING with the natural world liked you hoped!" Warpath added.

"Now don't you go worrying about me, Warpath. If it all goes according to plan I'll be able to incoporate nature into my practice." Beachcomber reassured Warpath.

(Beachcomber was still quite confused on why Warpath equated his plans with seeking redemption of all thing though)

"Primus, you're nerdier than Perceptor getting another fragging super-credential after already having one!" Brawn had offered unsolicited.

(It was indeed a difficult and "nerdy" experience. Studying a so-called "soft" science still required hard effort.)

"Beachcomber, I'm very happy to see you find a post-war pupose when many other are floundering and I hope you all the sucess in the world." Optimus Prime was supportive.

(It was apperciated.)

"Ya know, Beachcomber, yer gonna end up having to talk a bunch of Decepticreeps if ya persue this here career 'cause they all real crazy!

Ya sure you still wanna pursue this line of work?' Ironhide cautioned.

(Ironhide was an elderly bot and quite naturally had some very-shall say outdated views on therapy)

"Well, I'm sure you'll be able to have a nice peaceful life as a therapist." Bumblebee offered reassuringly.

He was quite incorrect:

"I want you to know, I'm only here because the court mandated that I do so! I wish they at least had the decency to give me a flight frame therapist!" Starscream crossed his arms in frustration.

"Mr. Starscream, I feel it's fair to mention that they did. You then...angered him and the courts decided to turn you over to me, who was noted for his pacifism." Beachcomber knew then his new career was going to filled with battles thrice as hard as any he had as an Autobot.

He might be a pacifist, but he wasn't a coward! He'd have to try thrice as hard then.

Notes:

I think Beachcomber should be a therapist in a new Transformers canon. It would give a good reason on why a pacifist like Beachcomber is among the Autobot ranks. Maybe he could even have the Cybertronian equvalent of therapy animals! Also, Transformers really need more mental health professionals than Rung! He's the only canon therapist that Transformers has and has to constantly travel canons in fanfiction. That poor guy's back must ache constantly from carrying all of Cybertron's therapy needs on it.
