     he rolls his eyes though, glancing at @msujaehyun in amusement. “i mean if we had all dressed up, we’d be the wrong species right? since edward’s supposed to be a vampire but he’s not.”

he reels back with a teasing smile. “tell you what, i’ll just turn into a real vampire one day. isn’t that better?”

honestly, if @msujaewon​ and jaehyun had actually agreed to dress up as the infamous trio from twilight, junseong thinks he probably would have begged for them not to. it’s one thing to joke about it, but the twilight series really had sucked, and it’s not exactly something he longs to be associated with, day in and day out. it’s definitely not something that occupies his waking thoughts very much, if at all — and if it hadn’t been for hyeon, maybe none of them would have noticed the connection.

still, it doesn’t mean he can’t tease his friends for it now that they’re safe from any potential realities fulfilling that particular nightmare.

“well, i figured that since none of you were going to play along, i should shake things up a bit!” he argues. a whine of protest escapes his lips as jaehyun tugs on his ears, and he huffs at the other. “i am not a puppy,” he protests weakly. it’s the only thing he can really say, since it’s actually kind of hard to deny that his personality? it’s very much that of a golden retriever.

“a real vampire??” his eyes widen. “sounds dangerous,” he remarks. “but then i guess you can turn jacob over here, bella. switch it up, why don’t we?”

“And what if I was?” Kevin responded jokingly into the dark abyss. Despite how long they’d been in the “haunted house”, his eyes were still struggling to adjust to the lack of light. Despite this, he continued to wave his hand out at nothing, thinking that if the other did the same, it would be the first thing he’d find. Kevin’s theory was quickly debunked as he, instead, received a light slap across his cheek. Nothing he wasn’t used to, though.

“Are you trying to tell me something, bro? You want a kiss from Princess Leia, bro? C’mere!” The boy continued to joke with boastful laughter, scrambling up to his feet. Now, he stumbled forward in the darkness, both arms reaching out before him like a zombie. Seeing as he was close enough to accidentally hit him just a few moments prior, Junseong couldn’t have been very far. 

“Would it be cheating if we used our wands in here? Or would that attract some monsters and ghouls towards us? I don’t know if I want that.”

“disgusting,” junseong immediately backpedals from wherever kevin’s face had been previously, half-tempted to just flail a hand out in front of him to prevent the other male from potentially landing a kiss on him. “i have my own princess leia, thank you very much!” actually, he has no idea what his girlfriend is dressed up as, seeing as how she’d insisted on a “first look” of sorts. well, she’s in for a disappointment as his costume is just… pitiful. to say the least.

there’s the sound of something crashing at the same time that junseong accidentally walks backwards into something, and he yelps in surprise, immediately whirling around and apologizing to the prop… which, of course, does not reply at all. as expected.

“um.” he says awkwardly, turning to glance at the shorter male with a sheepish smile. “maybe we should use our wands so i can fix whatever mess i just made… or do you think we’ll be kicked out? maybe the ghouls will come to eat your soul?” yeah, right. like mokseong would ever let anything actually dangerous in…

     “why would i bring you back when you would’ve definitely deserved your death for dying in a mirror maze?” he asks, raising an eyebrow in poorly concealed amusement, though he doesn’t say anything else along those lines. he has a few thoughts of retorts he could give, mostly about not being into necrophilia or anything of the sort that he sort of just lets die on his tongue instead of voicing them.

     failing to stop himself from rolling his eyes, hyuk doesn’t say anything as he follows junseong to the mirror maze and instead just inwardly laments on how he had ended up in this situation. it’s not that he doesn’t want to go to the mirror maze—actually, that’s probably it—but he’s just not really one for too much social interaction. 

     or something.

     “is it actually dangerous?” he asks, very certain that no one was going to die from the mirror but wanting to make sure anyway. he wasn’t entering if he was going to be risking his life or something. not for junseong. wait, no, definitely not for junseong. if his life was on the line, he was backing out for sure. “or are you winding me up?”

he pretends to be horrifically upset at the other’s question, pleased that his friend just looks like he’s at least amused. “hey! what if this mirror maze is really hard, hyuk? like so hard that we need hints to get through? wouldn’t it be easy for someone to die in there?” he argues playfully.

when they’re about to enter and donghyuk asks seriously whether someone could actually die in there, junseong has to laugh. “it’s not really dangerous,” he says sheepishly. “i mean, i think i could definitely get lost in there and need a professor’s help to get out, but i heard that there’s a professor supervising the whole time because it is hard.”

truth be told, junseong is a little bit offended that donghyuk would really think he’d ever drag the other to an event where there was a chance for actual injury. unless it’s quidditch — then that’s a different story. quidditch is special, after all. more than anything, he’d just wanted the other to have a decent time on halloween, even if junseong was the butt of the joke.

“you’re smart, hyuk, so i think we might even make it through with less hints than others. ready to give it your best shot?” he offers the other a warm smile, hopeful.

OKAY…….. pause. now hold on just a minute. what exactly is happening right now? is she being ignored? junseong doesn’t seem to notice her, and wow — he even goes as far as to pretend she’s not there, that he’s just ‘hearing voices’. wow. un-fucking-believable. this is so childish! dotty really thought junseong was better than this! 

“junnie!” she exclaims again, though this time, with less excitement, more annoyance. how dare he ignore her like this? this can’t go on. instead of striding alongside him, dotty instead moves so she’s in front of him, waving her arms in front of his face. ha! she’d like to see him ignore this. 

but… what? still no reaction?  “this is so fuckin’ childish! you’re really gonna keep pretending like you don’t see me?” this is honestly getting so ridiculous at this point, dotty is considering going as far as giving up, but— huh? 

what’s that he said? he should go see the nurse? something about a potion? ………………… a potion. oh. what was it that her potion did again? made people not… OH. it had made people not look at her. what the fuck? is she… invisible? well… that sure would explain things, but oh, how inconvenient that would be! she’s about to hope that maybe all the potion had done was turn her ugly, when a quick glance down confirms that yep, she sure is very much not visible. 

ugh, this sucks! how long does this potion last for again? she’s sure someone had mentioned it, at some point, but forgetful as she is, it hadn’t stuck in her mind. merlin, what is she going to do if she stays like this for hours? days, even? could it last for days? she hopes not — the thought of not being seen by a single person for days makes her shudder. 

first thing’s first, though, she has to make junseong stop believing she’s some kind of ghost, or hallucination, or whatever it was the younger was saying. “junnie!” her nickname for him is repeated, again, the annoyance again gone from her voice. “you’re not going crazy — i’m really here! i’ve just accidentally become invisible. who would have thought an invisibility potion would’ve been on top of professor jung’s list of things to start handing out to students? unbelievable, right?!” 

the fact that junseong continues to hear dotty’s voice is extremely concerning and disconcerting. he would much prefer for this voice to leave him alone on his way to the pumpkin patch, especially when he’s supposed to meet his girlfriend later. he doesn’t really want to be hearing voices the whole time that he’s supposed to be with his friends. no, thank you.

the voice is sounding more and more annoyed and junseong is starting to wonder if perhaps he needs to make a trip to the infirmary and talk to nurse sato, because he really thinks that hearing voices is not healthy, wizarding world or not.

the voice seems to read his mind, promising him that he’s not actually going crazy and that dotty is actually there, just invisible. “right, that sounds like something a ghost voice would say,” he replies to the voice and he’s even more convinced afterwards that he really is going crazy.

why in the world would he have spoken back to this ghostly voice that’s hovering around him, anyways? merlin. maybe if he walks really quickly to the pumpkin patch, he’ll be able to escape and find hyeon. maybe the hwaseong student will be able to scare the voice off with some kind of magical power…?

anyone would think that after spending so long lost inside, the last thing mimi would want is to head back into the mirror maze. she’d lost track of all the spells she’d used inside to keep others from finding the exit, and even more so how many wrong turns she’d taken herself to try and get out, but with every step, she just became more fired up to complete it without sabotaging herself. there’s a certain determination to wanting to prove yourself to yourself rather than anyone else and it boils over the tipping point in her mind over the course of the who-knows-how-long she’d been trapped — plenty of time that the moment she escapes, she’s searching for someone to drag in with her. 

( she can totally do this by herself, but, like… just in case, right? and isn’t everything just a little more fun with company, anyway? she definitely doesn’t need a guide in case she gets lost again… but the fact that the boy she has her sights set on strikes her as someone who’d reliably be able to get her out if that was the case… that’s just a convenient bonus, of course. )

“junseong! let’s go!” she barely gives him chance to protest before she’s tugging him towards the entrance. “let’s go through the maze together! it’ll be fun, I promise! let’s go!”

once through the mirror maze was enough for junseong. merlin, if it hadn’t been for hyuk, he probably would have gotten lost in the maze (as he’d predicted) and died in there, unable to find his way out. it sounds perfectly plausible, and the last thing junseong would want to do would be go back inside, especially without hyuk. that would spell certain death.

… except somehow, that’s exactly what he ends up doing.

he’s not really sure how it happened but there’s the abrupt blabber of a lot of speech and then all of sudden, he’s being dragged back into the mirror maze by a surprisingly strong grip. he glances down at the person who has a hold of him and blanches, eyes widening.

oh, merlin.

now, don’t get him wrong — it’s not like mimi is a bad person or something, no, nothing like that! but what she is, is very, very flirty and junseong doesn’t really know how to reject her more directly than he already has! he tried once (twice, maybe even three) and it didn’t work quite as planned, so now he’s just stuck chuckling nervously as he stands in the mirror maze with her. 

“um…. yeah… fun!” this is incredibly awkward even if they don’t consider the fact that he has a girlfriend and is now stuck in the mirror maze with a girl who is definitely flirting with him. merlin, what is he supposed to do right now?

sometimes, junseong is forced to question his intelligence and sanity. but only sometimes! most of the time, he makes reasonably sane and sound decisions, but being around @msukiyoung? well, one might argue that it brings out the idiot in him, as the first time they’d accidentally gotten into an accident shouldn’t have led them to the stupid competition that they have going on. 

the first time he’d smashed a bludger just a tad too hard and broken kiyoung’s nose shouldn’t have been the start to an agreement of sorts. kiyoung probably shouldn’t have agreed when junseong had suggested that kiyoung could be the one to break his nose, next time. but it had worked out that way, and so far, they’ve managed to keep their... bargain going thus far. idiots, the both of them.

concluding, of course, with the game between suseong and hwaseong where suseong had lost. dramatically. junseong can’t say that he’s not disappointed for the loss, but at the very least, he did manage to break kiyoung’s nose, so not everything was lost, he supposes.

“kiyoung,” he says with a grin as he lands on the pitch after the game. “guess i won today’s? let me take you to the hospital wing.”

event starter: mokseong mausoleum

while most couples had opted to match, junseong and ( @msuchaeyeon ) are a little different. chaeyeon had suggested a “first look” kind of thing, and while junseong was 100% sure — maybe even 110% sure — that he was going to end up disappointing his girlfriend, he had agreed nonetheless. with all of his friends ditching him to dress up with their own significant others or friends, and his own girlfriend not even wanting to match, junseong is at an absolute loss.

his costume is rather… lackluster, even if he’s admitting it to himself. the furry ears, the scratches and claw marks over this face, the torn and ripped clothes in neutral colours… yeah, okay, he did a horrible job with his costume and he’s kind of ashamed of it.

especially when he sees his girlfriend standing by the doors, waiting for him so they can go out to the carriages (which are supposed to be romantic, or something), looking very very attractive in her costume. beautiful, really. coming up to her and dropping a kiss on her head casually, he stares at her in obvious, open appreciation.

“wow, yeonnie,” he says with a tone that’s clearly indicating his appreciation, “you look gorgeous.” for a moment, he forgets how… underwhelming his outfit is, distracted by her beauty. cheesy.

it’s not the first time junseong has been to a party but there are definitely a lot of people at this party that he’s never met before in his life. then again, he supposes it doesn’t help that he’s a freshman and hasn’t been at mokseong for very long, but regardless. he’s considering whether he wants to get another drink to help him loosen up, or whether he wants to go and make some new friends. it’s best to make friends while drunk, right? or at least tipsy. it’s definitely a lot easier, even for someone as extraverted as junseong is, it’s still hard for him to think of funny, interesting things to say with complete strangers.

he’s just about decided on getting another drink when he glances over and happens to make eye contact with a girl who is most definitely unfairly pretty. oh merlin. he half wants to go over and talk to her, just because she’s gorgeous, but he thinks he might need several more drinks before he can even dare to approach her. 

that is, until she makes eye contact with him. red alert, red alert, mission abort! junseong immediately breaks eye contact, his cheeks flushing, and he hopes to whatever gods exist that he hadn’t just ruined his potential chances at... something or another.

he takes the knife and holds it in front of junseong, squinting as if he’s inspecting the other, a menacing grin on his face. “don’t be afraid, i’m not going to hurt you.” he doesn’t put effort into making that sound convincing in the slightest, it’s fun watching the older squirm in his pants, amused to see someone taller and bigger casting him a look of fear. “or maybe i will, who knows? the future is bright, but bleak for you.”

raising his eyebrow, he hums. “question marks, though? i mean, why—that doesn’t make much sense, does it? to each their own.” junseong is allowed to do whatever he wants, especially when hyeon just threatened him like he did (not on purpose, but he had fun seeing junseong afraid even if for a moment).

with a wave of his wand and a small enchantment, he turns the pumpkin pink. “see? how does this look?” as if to put on a show, he shoves the knife into the pumpkin, before slowly carving out an eye. “it has your colour, i’ll name it junseong number two: the better version. why? because it’s smaller than me.”

“this is horrifying, especially with your outfit,” he remarks with a huff, squinting at the other male. honestly, it had taken him a bit to recognize hyeon at first, seeing as how the other is now currently sporting long red hair and green skin and a skin-tight outfit. definitely not what he expects to see from hyeon, not at all, even if the other does look startlingly... well... pretty. 

“are you going to summon all your plants and take over my dead body,” he laments with a pout as he squints at the pumpkin in front of him. maybe he should charm it green and carve hyeon into it after all. maybe the freshman won’t kill him and sacrifice his body to the plants if he gives him some kind of offering. 

“why am i pink,” he complains immediately, before he falls silent as hyeon plunges the knife in without hesitation, carving out an eye. “um... that’s offensive,” he manages. “i didn’t ask to be tall, and it’s not my fault you’re small!” he huffs as he frowns at his pumpkin some more, deciding to start with the hair. it probably won’t end up looking anything like hyeon, but at least he’ll give it a try.

fate is for losers,  isn’t it?  he’s read it somewhere,  how one should be taking matters in their own hands rather than waiting for a miracle to be brought along by lady fate.  but claude,  always opting for the easier,  less complicated option,  does place his trust in fate right now,  in the whole ordeal of having his soulmate’s name revealed in form of apples.  

of course he tries not to make it too obvious,  his greed and desire to have either an h or an e revealed in front of his eyes,  but the way he dips his face inside the water and tries to snatch an apple with his teeth a bit too eager gives everything away.

“hah!  i got one!”  he cheers victoriously after the unpeenth try,  voice muffled by the apple stuck between his teeth.  his love for a woman he cannot have guided him to victory!  he thinks so,  at least.  the apple is quick to be peeled using a spell he actually knows to use properly and he gives his friend a look,  intense and drawn out,  as if to build up the whole dramatic flair this very moment requires.

“it’s not like i care about what i get.  pft.  why should an apple tell me my soulmate?”  a half-hearted bluff.  regardless,  he tosses in the peel,  raises his hands in a near puerile way to cover his eyes.  “t - tell me what i got!  be honest,  junseong!”  maybe luck will be on his side for once.

he’s much less concerned about the idea of a soulmate, and more interested in fetching an apple to eat it. if the peels really are charmed, which he doubts they are, he wonders if the charm is disturbed at all by the teeth marks that inevitably mar the apple.

claude can pretend all he wants that he’s not worried of the outcome of this apple event, but junseong can read the setter somewhat more easily after their time together on the volleyball team, and he can tell that claude is nervous. now, junseong isn’t exactly sure of the situation that’s going on, but at the very least, he does know the name of claude’s love interest. thankfully, because it means that in the case of these apple peels really having no charm whatsoever, he can probably rearrange it before claude notices. 

he manages to snatch up an apple in his teeth right after claude manages, grumbling because his face and hair are soaked. merlin. bobbing for apples is a lot harder than he remembered! 

“uh huh, whatever you say,” he replies to the other’s obviously full-of-bravado statement, watching as the peel falls into the water. “uh, hang on.” he says as claude covers his eyes, using his body to block off the other’s view as he squints into the water. huh. well, if that’s meant to be a letter, junseong definitely can’t tell what letter it’s actually meant to be... with a finger stuck into the water, he carefully adjusts the peel so it forms what could pass for an e... or at least, he hopes so. 

“looks like an e to me?” he says to the older male once he’s successfully rigged claude’s results. “what were you hoping for?” as if he doesn’t know.

     he’s literally minding his own business when he hears his name—he hadn’t been planning on partaking in many of the festivities around the whole halloween event thing, considering he didn’t even have a costume or a plan to wear one—but when he recognizes the voice, he has a feeling that he won’t really have a choice in the matter. junseong is someone who’s been consistently bothering him since orientation and while he doesn’t mind, he also does mind. not too much, but sometimes he does. 

     today is fortunately not one of those times.

     “i think you’re being unnecessarily dramatic,” hyuk comments, sniffing slightly in amusement and he pretends his interest hasn’t been piqued slightly by the other’s words. he can’t help but roll his eyes though, still thinking that it was probably nothing too crazy that the other could actually die in. probably. right?

     “i don’t think you can die … you’d probably come back as a ghost and haunt your dorm room or something,” he adds after a moment of thought, tilting his head slightly to the side and pressing his index and thumb against his chin, frowning as if he was deep in thought. “you’d be extra annoying as a ghost … so i guess i’ll come. so you can’t haunt me later, if you die.”

“hmm, you might be right there,” he concedes easily enough, grinning at the shorter male. “but you’re totally right, i would come back and haunt you specifically, just to annoy you until you gave up and performed some kind of ritual to bring me back to life! or maybe until you exorcised me. i guess that’d be an option, too.” he taps on his cheek curiously, contemplating the different situations that they could potentially end up in. 

“anyways, i promise that since you’re coming with me, i won’t haunt you if i die,” he holds out his pinky solemnly, though there’s definitely a smile tweaking at the corners of his mouth, his expression pleased. he’s just happy that hyuk is willing to come along, as sometimes the other male is not very receptive. 

leading the way to the mirror maze, he doesn’t even mind that hyuk isn’t dressed up at all for the halloween season. honestly, junseong thinks his own costume is kind of haphazard and not really the best he could have come up with, but when all of his friends had abandoned him on any clever matching outfits, he’s left with his own imagination, which really isn’t much. “i heard the mirror maze is particularly hard...” he muses as they approach the entrance.

at some point, she’s going to have to talk to him — she knows that. while avoiding him forever might be possible, it’s not something that would sit well with her own conscience. because while they might not be dating anymore, and they might not have talked in years, jieun has to admit she does still care for him. it had surprised her at first, the pang of longing she felt in her chest when she had first seen him, then during his countless attempts to strike up a conversation with her. not a longing for their past relationship, she’s way past that, but for their friendship. their friendship that had been in the process of being rebuilt, they were getting along better than in months, but then— 

the impossible had happened, and it’s almost as if jieun had fallen off the face of the earth. she won’t say her life has ever been particularly easy, but losing her mother made the rest of it feel like a walk in the park. her only comfort had been in the kang family, who had helped her back on her feet, helped her continue living. but everyone else? they’d gotten radio silence from her. not a single word, for years. 

which she’s now realizing is coming back to bite her in the ass. other acquaintances had gotten over it easily enough when running into her again at mokseong, but junseong? things were different with them. they have a history together, and jieun must admit that despite the shitty circumstances she had found herself in back then, the way she had ignored all of the younger’s attempts to contact her had been equally as shitty. 

and now, they’re at an impasse. junseong keeps approaching her, she keeps ignoring him. but this game of cat and mouse can’t go on forever. with a sigh, she actually stops this time, turning around to face him as he runs up to her. 

“hi,” she responds dumbly. wow, great going, jieun. you’ve been ignoring this guy for years, and all you can manage to say to him is ‘hi?’. “what, uhm… what’s up?” yeah, okay, because that made her sound so much smarter.

honestly, when she stops and actually responds to him, it catches junseong so off guard that he isn’t even sure what he’s supposed to say next. especially because her reply is so... ordinary. like nothing had gone wrong. like she hadn’t vanished off the face of the earth for a few years. like she hadn’t been ignoring his attempts to reach out the past few weeks. somehow he’d expected something different — whether it was anger, annoyance, apologies, or even apathy... but he hadn’t expected her to act like absolutely nothing had happened.

“nuna,” he repeats, dumbfounded, his expression a mixture of hurt and confusion. he has so many questions for her, it’s hard to sort through them and figure out exactly which one he wants to ask her first. where were you? is probably the most pressing question he’d like to ask. but he also wants to know why she’d been ignoring him, why she hadn’t said anything, what she’s been doing — there are so many questions junseong has for his ex-girlfriend who he’d loved dearly that he can barely get ahold of himself.

“nuna, i— i missed you.” this is not what junseong had meant to say but somehow it’s what comes out. his face crumples slightly, wide puppy-like smile and sparkling eyes nowhere to be seen. it’s almost unsettling to see this kind of despondence on junseong’s face, but it’s there. “where have you been?”

on principle, zeke makes it a habit not to get involved in other people’s business. for one, it’s not his problem, and when has sticking his nose in the personal problems of strangers ever felt intuitive or right to him? and secondly, what a pain in the neck. he’s busy enough trying to keep himself afloat (or submerged—he hasn’t decided), and getting his hands dirty trying to keep everyone else in his orbit similarly situated? no way. if he doesn’t see it, he doesn’t care for it. and even if he does see it, he’s not interested—

or, well.

…

that’s what he tells himself. and usually, it’s what zeke commits himself to. because it’s good to have principles and mantras and modes of existence and things to practice every day to keep things on schedule and regular—but every now and then he’ll run into an anomaly, the sort of situation he accidentally spectates and really can’t just ignore.

case in point: golden retriever personified being hit on by someone, looking not too enthused about the idea of being hit on. he recognizes the golden retriever too—junseong (right? zeke makes a mental not to check his observation log later), a passing face that he’s more or less loosely acquainted with. they’re just that, acquaintances, but zeke knows his name and that’s saying more than half of the student population.

so, he strides right up to the pair outside of honeydew’s, letting an arm fall around junseong’s shoulders too casually, reeling the younger boy a little closer—but not too close—to his side in the process. “there you are,” zeke says in greeting. he takes a half-a-second to assess the situation—to figure out what the best way out of it is before he turns, gaze pointedly fixed on junseong’s face, an unspoken play along twinkling in his eyes. he drops his arm to tangle their fingers together, returning his attention to the third party. “oh, hey. don’t think we’ve met.” zeke flashes the stranger a grin. “i’m zeke, junseong’s boyfriend.”

honestly, junseong does not know what it is about him that seems to attract extremely persistent people. if he did, he’s 100% sure that he would absolutely do his best to turn off whatever it is about him that seems to call out for them! first it was dotty, who had been genuinely kind of terrifying to him, with her intensity, and then there’s her friend that he still doesn’t really know the name of despite them all being in the same house, who also seems to follow him around. once, he even swears he saw her face in the window at night. 

he’s regretting all of his life decisions standing outside of honeydew’s as this girl that he really can’t even remember the name of persistently talks to him. sometimes, junseong curses the fact that he can’t really bring himself to flat out reject people or just tell them to leave. instead, he always ends up awkwardly smiling through the pain of having someone stuck to him on this otherwise rather pleasant trip. 

the last thing he expects, however, is for an arm to fall around his shoulders, being tugged against someone’s side. whoa. definitely not a girl, not with that height. they’re almost the same height, and that surprises junseong. it’s a relatively familiar face that he meets, reading the other’s expression, and he puts as natural of a smile onto his face as he can, even as zeke tangles their fingers together. at the unexpected movement, junseong feels blood rush to his face — zeke is attractive, okay, there’s no denying that — and he swallows as he meets the girl’s flabbergasted expression. 

“sorry, i didn’t know how to say it,” he says to her, hoping that it would be enough to get her to just leave. to his immense relief, she does leave despite looking extremely disgruntled. turning to zeke once he feels like she’s safely gone, he just looks grateful.

“merlin, thank you.” he says with feeling. “i was really wondering if i was going to be stuck with her all day.”

it’s not exactly a secret that bell tires himself out quicker than most people, although with the icy glares he sends if they stare too long, it’s no wonder that they don’t really care when he’s teetering the line between dreamland and reality. it’s one of those times, where his mind is getting cloudier as seconds pass. he’s doing a pretty good job at keeping himself awake, the stimulants he has been taking a great help.

he’s not above doing silly things when he’s sleepy, though. his eyes are still wide open, although he doesn’t have the best control over his mind or his hand right now. what he’s writing is far from the notes he’s forming in his head earlier. in fact, he’s writing familiar names onto said parchment, although he hadn’t exactly read back what he’s writing.

accidentally, his elbow bumps against ( @msujunseong ), and he mutters a soft—and honestly, rather insincere—apology for the other, before he continues on with whatever it is he’s doing. he shouldn’t be losing his mobility any time soon, but he should probably take a nap right after this class. right now, it feels neverending.

sometimes, junseong wishes he could just fall asleep when he’s in class. especially history of magic, which makes him doubly want to fall asleep — it’s not that he’s not interested in it, don’t get him wrong, he’s just... not interested in it. fine. he really isn’t interested in history of magic at all. what is he ever going to need it for in healing? still, he diligently tries to pay attention, even if his mind is drifting. 

he’s just working on his own notes, shoddy as they are, when he’s bumped rather abruptly, his expression confused as he glances over at the other male. there’s a hastily mumbled apology and junseong just shrugs, nodding in acceptance despite the apology probably meaning nothing at all, and he turns his attention back to class for a moment before he glances over at the other’s paper again. 

huh. those are definitely not class notes. “what are you writing on there?” he whispers to the other, his eyebrow arching curiously even as he tries to keep one ear open for the lecture. it probably won’t go that well, but oh well. junseong doesn’t really need history of magic...

event starter: mokseong mausoleum

he kind of wonders if he should have maybe gone as a vampire, per his name, just for the sake of the joke. but instead, he’d chosen to go as a werewolf, figuring that his hair colour suited it a bit better. pink simply isn’t what he thinks one would expect from a vampire. they’re supposed to be dark or cold, and then there’s him with his peachy pink hair... 

well, anyways, it doesn’t matter. because neither @msujaewon or @msujaehyun had agreed to dress up with him! 

rude. they’re literally the twilight trio, junseong is very much of the opinion that they should have come together to really make the joke stick in everyone else’s minds. but instead, none of them are really matching their “characters,” so to speak. 

once he’s actually managed to gather them all together at the costume party, he huffs at the two shorter men. “i can’t believe you both betrayed me.” he shakes his head in mock disappointment, gesturing at their costumes. never mind the fact that he also isn’t the vampire he was meant to be, but he definitely would have dressed up as a sparkly vampire if the other two had agreed to do it together!

Kevin couldn’t believe that he’d gone a round two in the haunted house. But if it was what his bro wanted, it’s what he would get! He’d already gotten through it once, so this second time would be a breeze! The boy continued to play this throughout his head— it was the only way he’d get through this. Junseong usually radiated the same energy as Kevin did, himself, so the boy was certain that he’d be too busy clowning the other to be scared.

All of the self-hype seemed to go out the window at the sudden CRASH behind them. With a loud shriek, Kevin found himself falling down to the floor in a matter of seconds. Losing the other in the darkness, the boy reached out his hand into the shadows, aimlessly. 

“Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.”

things relating to the supernatural have never really scared junseong. sure, he gets startled if they jump out at him from nowhere, but the most that will probably happen will be that he jumps himself. hwang junseong, screaming his head off? unlikely! 

he’s genuinely curious to see how kevin is going to react, though. the libero is pretty comical; along with claude on the volleyball team, they usually have a good time together. but he’s never seen kevin in one of these situations, and junseong is firmly of the opinion that haunted houses bring out the funniest sides of people. 

as they start through the haunted house, junseong is busy wondering if kevin will scream when an ear-splitting shriek echoes in his ears and he startles, hearing a successive crash to the floor. when he turns to look, kevin is missing, and there’s only a familiar line recited from star wars. “are you princess leia, now?” he asks in amusement as he reaches out for the other’s hand, waving his hand around rather wildly until it connects with something that is definitely not a hand. 

“oh shit, was that your face?”

yes, i’m interrogating @msujunseong

cal’s not the type to get jealous! sure, there are a few instances where he’d rather a person pay more attention to him than someone else. but he wouldn’t really consider that jealousy, but more being needy for attention. yes, there are some instances where cal would find himself getting a little bit nosy about who a specific person was hanging around with a lot. but he really just wants to make sure that his friends are hanging out with the right people! not to mention, he’s just naturally a nosy person anyway. and yes, in the case of anais and haejin, there are people who does not really feel comfortable seeing with them. it makes him feel an uncomfortable feeling in the stomach and he could always find his mood at least a little bit ruined seeing them. but he’s not jealous! he’d simply say he’s looking out for the both of them. he cared a lot about the former and, despite their history, still cared deeply about haejin. 

at least, that’s the excuse he gives himself when it came to junseong and why he couldn’t help but feel… uneasy towards him whenever he clung onto haejin. the fact that haejin seemed to show that he was always comfortable around him made him feel weird. so when he spots the boy on his own at the castlegrounds all dressed up in his costume, he decides to take the opportunity to approach him and see what his deal was. specifically what kind of person he was and what his relationship with haejin is. was his plan essentially to interrogate the poor boy? absolutely. did he seem to care? absolutely not. 

so he walks up to him and mentally curses at the other for being taller than him. that’s great! way to get his ego boosted if there’s a guy who could be haejin’s boyfriend be taller than him. “hey! junseong, right?” he asks for clarification on who the other guy was before he smiles at him. “how’s halloween going so far? hope it’s fun.” alright. enough of the small talk. “mind if i hang out with you for a little? can’t seem to find the person i’m matching with anywhere.”

it’s only natural for junseong to be particularly clingy when it comes to haejin — the other is practically his brother, his platonic soulmate, and if there’s anyone he trusts more than anyone and anything else in the world, it’s haejin. the other is the only person he really has left, after all. it’s hard not to get discouraged from time to time, but haejin always seems to know when junseong needs a bit of encouraging or just a hug. but at the same time, he wonders at the situations that his cousin gets himself into, and he wishes that he could do more for the other. 

he’s met several of haejin’s friends, people who are both in his year and not, but there are so many people at mokseong that inevitably, he can’t keep track of all of them. the person who approaches him is a very familiar face, and it takes him a moment of looking down at the other’s face to finally place a name. familiar familiar familiar... he remembers a fond tone in haejin’s voice when talking about him, although if he recalls correctly, they’d fought recently...

“yeah, that’s me,” he replies warmly, offering the other a bright smile even though he’s not really sure what the other is doing here. “you’re cal, right?” he asks for confirmation, as he’d absolutely hate to have mixed him up with someone else and only find out a bit too late. “my halloween’s been good — these events are really something else!” he laughs easily, shaking his head. “sure, you’re welcome to hang around. i hope i’m not boring...” he chuckles at that, scratching the back of his head, completely oblivious to the other’s intentions.
