msumiyoung: anything for a friend.
she doesn’t ask — when does she ever? — snatches the cup from his hold without a warning, without permission. “you can get yourself something else to drink.” a hand waves him off in dismissal and she downs the gorgeous looking drink in a matter of a couple of sips. what happens next is something she has not expected, never thought of before; a tingly feeling throbs in the tips of her fingers and her brain feels … enchanted.
she turns to look at taejun, dumbfounded one moment, incredibly amused the next. truths start to spill from her lips, something she seems to have no control of. “taejun-ah, i never told you before, but you really need a haircut. should i introduce you to my hairstylist? he will make you look like a god.” brows raise as she eyes him up and down, once. “your outfit looks really cheap. let me handle it next year for your own good.”
taejun simply nods with slight agreement when miyoung comments about the party and music. he's honestly not too bothered by either considering that he is enjoying his time with the friends he's run into so far. despite that, taejun feels it'd be better not to voice that out loud and contradict her opinion considering she's actually talking to him now.
before he can even turn to grab a new cup to pour her a drink, his own cup is gone in a flash and its contents even faster. taejun isn't sure what to say or if he should say anything at all because he's not quite sure how to tell miyoung that there was a potion in his drink.... without pushing her even further away than she already was in willing to talk to taejun. he's not sure if she can see the panic in his eyes either as he's watching to see what'll happen to her, as if she might suddenly combust into a ball of flames.
only a few seconds of silence have passed after miyoung's finished the drink but taejun feels like it's been years and he might suddenly be swallowed up by the ground. when miyoung finally turns to look at him, taejun feels like a deer caught in headlights because... did she know? was she feeling funny? oh my god what was he supposed to tell kiyoung if the potion was unlucky and actually did something to her?
when miyoung finally talks though it's not what taejun expects and he's shocked to the bone. especially the way she addresses him so casually.
"i- i guess i do?" taejun agrees unsurely, his voice lilting as he hesitantly runs a hand through his hair. he had thought it was fine but maybe it did grow a little longer than he realized since his last trim. but to think that he could look like a god? what was going on?
taejun doesn't even disagree with her next comment considering that the costume was cheap. he and kiyoung had figured out their costumes last minute after finding out jaewon was going as peter pan to match amelie instead of a getup the three of them could match together. if anything really, they were still all peters so that must have counted for something. it's her offer that makes taejun do a double take again because miyoung barely wanted to converse with taejun most of the time but now she was willing to help him with his next halloween costume?
"yeah, i mean that's totally fine by me." taejun stiffly replies as his eyes dart around nervously trying to find kiyoung somewhere in the crowd. was this miyoung being nice to him? really what was going on??? taejun is too peeved to continue in silence and risks the question knowing it might expose that she had just drank an unknown potion. "miyoung, are you feeling okay?"
