Can we talk about like, how forgiving and understanding 03 Mikey is?? Like in the meet casey episode when Raph gets super angry and nearly bashes him in the face with a metal rod; when he runs off Mikey looks worried and starts to follow him (before Splinter stops him), and when Raph gets back and apologizes, Mikey just immediately goes ‘yea bro it’s all good!!’ And in Hunted when Leatherhead goes all feral and hurts Mikey to the point that when he comes to his senses he literally thinks he’s dead? Mikey wakes up and his first concern is Leatherhead’s well being? Like I know I clown on Mikey all the time because he is very much a gremlin, but he’s also so compassionate and knows when to be serious and I’m just 🥺 I love a good son so much.

Thank you so much for accepting my request! As a martial artist and a kickboxer myself, I've gotta say this is a nice kick and I love the dynamic pose!🔥The entire drawing came out fantastic!

Great anatomy too! I got too used to drawing more cartoony characters lately and it shows because when I tried drawing our muscular turtle boys without a reference, the anatomy came out a little wonky, especially in Raph, so I appreciate the accuracy all the more!

I think Leo holds himself back in combat.

I think the precision with which he weilds his weapons - blades designed for the purpose of dealing a swift death - without killing is testament to that control.

I think he works hard, trains hard, to overcome his feelings and think rationally in emotionally charged situations.

I think he's afraid of the damage he'd do if he didn't keep himself under a tight rein at all times.

I think he had to work even harder during Season 4 to not let that control slip. To not give up and let the darkness win.

I think the fact that he came back from the edge is proof that he succeeded.

Leonardo may not always be 'in control'. But I don't think we've ever seen him truly lose it.

Idk what the artist had in mind, but this image reminds me of a really cool fic series in which Leo gets possessed by a demon. The series is called Whispered by Pebr on AO3 (I included the link to it in the title). It's rated M because it gets pretty dark but I love this writer's works and would love for more people to check them out if they're old enough and it's their cup of tea :D

2003 Leo is best Leo. He's a strong, serious, proficient and protective leader who's allowed to really show and feel the lasting mental/emotional weight of his position. (Two arcs about working through trauma? In my kids' cartoon?! Yes, please!) But the majority of the time, he doesn't let the leadership go to his head; he knows how to be collaborative. He listens and leans on his team, he knows how much he needs every single one of them (and makes sure they know it too <3)

Even if/when it may go unmentioned or unappreciated, he tries to pick up any slack with grace (well, with grace most of the time - and sometimes deeply to his detriment. But his flaws make him well-rounded and complex and show us that even heroes take on too much sometimes, even heroes have to wrestle with heavy topics.)

At the same time we still get glimpses of the humble naivete and vulnerability that naturally come with learning as he goes, the moments of dorky, playful fun and free time with his brothers that remind us he's a kid too. Michael Sinterniklaas voices him perfectly; he has the range for the entire emotional spectrum, he can carry youthful innocence, understated snark, deep respect, capable command, traumatic, grievous rage and all with equal skill.

He's just so good. Love this guy. Love love love my Leo!
