fluff ; age up (manga version) ; tenderness in loving another in their presence
a/n: it’s been a while since i’ve written for tokrev please be gentle if i butchered kazu’s characterization TT^TT
matsuno chifuyu had always wondered how just being by your side could put a smile so naturally on his face. when did you become an existence he could not replace? even more so, someone who he could not live without. you were warm like the sun, comforting like the moon, and the stars he tends to gaze at pales miserably in comparison to your presence. everything about you feels like home to him—the faint scent of french lavender, traces of fur, and the occasional taste of honey lemon. wherever you are was wherever he will be. and he would never ask for anything more when he have you by his side, but sometimes, on days where it’s a little blue, he found himself sinking deeper into the comfort of your presence.
“fuyu?”
you could tell he was slightly out of it when he did not catch your first call. it wasn’t the first time this had happened, and even if you weren’t told the reason behind his change in behavior, you still decided to just sit it out with him.
warm hands overlapped his clenched fists, you held onto it tightly as if to thaw the coldness creeping up his veins.
“fuyu, i’m right here with you. always.”
it took a minute or two before his fingers flinched, eyes darted over to your presence beside him.
“i know.”
he would whisper in the most gentle way that would put a smile to your face when you brought his hands up to your cheek—a cute habit he loved whenever you feel a little giddy and shy.
“thank you,” he mumbled under his breath as he pulled you a tad closer, just so he could leave a sweet peck on the tip of your nose.
“for always reminding me that there’s hope.”
you may not quite understood what he meant, but you know deep down, regardless of what will happen, your decision and feelings will never change.
“thank you for always being so gentle with me.”
you giggled at the cheesiness oozing right out of your words but it was worth it. definitely, when the growing hues of pink dusted ever so shyly on his cheeks had you both chuckling at the embarrassment of feeling like two little kids confessing their love for each other again.
no matter how many times the future might change, he will forever have you etched into his heart and hope that the red strings of fate will bring you to him in every timeline he existed.
hanemiya kazutora found himself wondering why just by feeling your fingers combing through his hair had his nerves washed away and his thoughts silenced as calm as a lake. it will always remain a mystery to him, for he had never experienced anything quite like this in his entire life. it was as if you cast a sleeping spell on him whenever you hum softly under your breath; magic overflowing from the tip of your fingers to the end of his toes. that was all you need to do to build back the world that crumbled each time his thoughts intrude a little too much.
“maybe we should just head to the city office right now to update my family registry.”
“did something ha—”
there was a pause, a shift in your gear when you saw the grin tugging the corner of his lips.
“i—is that a proposal?”
you gasped, unsure if the shock was from how out of the blue his question came or the fact that he even considered marriage when you knew about his past and what he had gone through.
“maybe? i’m just blurting my feelings out loud. we can take our time, there’s no rush.”
“are you sure?”
“if it’s for you, i’ll can wait until we are—”
“—i meant with me…as in marriage.”
you gently turned his head up to face you, worried eyes with seriousness knitted in your brows as your lips parted but words stuck at the tip of your tongue.
“and why would i not be sure?”
his large hands cupped your cheeks, a soft smile hanging on his lips when watched your eyes glossed over.
“you are the very reason why i loved to see the sun each morning, the reason why i want to start all over again, why i decided to live for myself again.”
your lips trembled at his words that held the weight you would never be able to truly understand. it was always heavy and it pains you whenever he had his episodes, but all you could do was be present with him.
“instead, i should be the one to ask you. are you sure?”
“always.”
you replied in a heartbeat. one that had his eyes widened for a fraction before they disappeared behind a smile he couldn’t quite hold back.
he wondered, truly, what did he ever do to deserve you in his life after all that he had done in his past. what was god’s plan for him? was this his punishment? to finally experience something so precious that he just know if you were taken away from him, he will never be the same again. and somehow, it made him realized nothing scared him more than losing you.
“so, shall we just do it now?”
you chuckled at the goofiness in his smile when he turned around and had his arms lock around your waist. his cheeks resting ever so naturally on your thigh, and for a split second, you almost gave in at the breathtaking moment that seized your heart.
“maybe after you stop giving chifuyu-kun a hard time by slacking off as his boss.”
oh how you regretted saying that when he climbed onto your lap with a pout ever so obvious on his lips.
“are you saying chifuyu is the reason we can’t get married right now?”
for once, kazutora realized that regardless of how silly his actions or words may seem to others, somehow he couldn’t quite help it when he’s with you. like a dream, he just want you and only you to always be with him and never would he ever let you go (nor hear another man’s name from your lips).
a/n: it’s been awhile since i’ve written anything so please be gentle and i hope you like it !!
it’s been three years. and oddly enough, he could not feel the weight of your absence even after so long. how could he when traces of you were littered around his home—somehow it still felt like one.
taking a sip of his lukewarm tea, kita watched the stars glistened ever so bright from his balcony. maybe, somewhere deep within his heart, he knew it will work out in the end. as his grandma would always say, ‘if it’s meant to be, it will be’.
of course, he could tell she was affected by your missing presence when she called out your name each time she wanted an orange peeled. perhaps, he even found himself pouring an extra cup of tea whenever he was lost in thought.
you were always present in the little routine they had in their life, and even after three years, even if grandma stops calling you and kita stops grabbing another cup, somehow he could still vividly feel the love you left for him in bits and pieces of memories stored in his precious cookie tin (the same one you used to keep scraps of scribbled poems and letters).
kita loved you, so much so that he realized he might even love the you who he have yet to meet after three years. all he could do was pray to the stars that always accompanied him through the night.
“i wish. . .”
“don’t you want to know too?”
kita raised a brow at your sudden question, the pen he was diligently using to scribble down notes lifted only for a mere second before he continued where he left off.
“know of?”
“who is going to sit at your grave and talk to you for hours. you know? that kind of thing.”
your feet swung in unison to the tone of your voice while the sparkle in your eyes was brimmed with so much curiosity, he wondered if only you had given the same amount of attention to your studies as you would then also be at the top of your class.
“was that all yer thinking about this whole time?”
“maybe?”
you grinned like an innocent child caught playing around instead of doing their homework.
“would you?”
kita wanted to answer you only after you have finished your work, but just the thought of knowing you will never be by his side again somehow didn’t sit well with him. his heart felt an itch he wasn’t familiar with, and yet through this unfamiliarity did he realize how much of your presence occupied his heart.
“would yer want me to?”
he looked up at your surprised face, a fond smile dotted along his lips when he noticed soft hues of red dusted on the tip of your ears.
“that would be romantic but i feel like you would just be nagging over my dead body if you’re going to talk for hours.”
a sweet chuckle left his lips at your accusation, one in which he found it to be quite endearing. did that meant you had envision growing old with him?
“i think that does sound nice.”
you gasped in the most exaggerated manner you could master as your hand covered your mouth.
“are you saying it’s nice that i’m going to die first?”
sometimes he wondered what goes on in that head of yours, yet it amused him how you would always bring pockets of joy into his life.
“i’m saying it’ll be nice to grow old together with yer.”
it’s been three years. and oddly enough, you found yourself still holding onto a cup of tea as you watched the faint twinkle of stars hanging in the night sky. from time to time, you would doodle random rice grain on your scripts and even peel an extra orange out of habit.
it was in those little moments did you realize how much of his routine had stuck with you even if you stubbornly refused to follow through it. and in the absence of his presence, you found yourself struggling to keep in touch with reality, for you had never known how he was always the one anchoring you so you would not lost your way back.
sometimes you wondered if it was worth it. moving to a new city, starting afresh and chasing a dream you still was not quite sure of. it was everything you ever wanted, yes, and the more you shared it with everyone you love, the more you believe in it. the more others tried to tell you otherwise, the more certain you were towards it.
yet, somewhere deep within your heart, you knew that if nothing worked out, there was still a place you could return to. you just had a feeling that even if the world were to end the next day, you would still find yourself wanting to be in the comfort of his arms.
a saying you often heard by someone precious to you, ‘if it’s meant to be, it will be.’ and you believe in it. after all, whatever happens will happen. perhaps, maybe the only thing you could do was pray to the little shimmers above you that had been the light to your dark days.
“i wish. . .”
“yer sure?”
you nodded firmly, albeit the nervousness bubbling in the pits of your stomach at your decision.
atsumu hummed a little too loud, making you shushed him in panic.
“and for how long?”
“three to maybe five years?”
the lad almost blew your cover if you had not reacted quick enough by covering his loud mouth with your hand.
“yer crazy?!”
he whispered-yelled after prying your hand away.
“i don’t know, am i?”
the blonde could not believe the question (even if it was rhetorical) that left your lips.
“did captain say anything about it?”
your silence explained the whole situation as to why you even have to pull him towards the old gym and away from prying eyes.
“did yer think he wouldn’t understand?”
you shook your head, suddenly feeling ashamed of your actions even when you had thought about it a thousand and more times.
“he would. i know he would be supportive and that’s the thing…”
if the whole world was against you, you knew he would still be the one to hold your hand gently and tell you how it’ll be all okay because he just know that was what you needed to hear.
“i don’t want him to say that it’s okay if i’m not by his side. i know i’m being selfish and unreasonable, but i don’t want him to let me go even if i need him to.”
if only you had known.
“i’m sorry i was too late.”
if only he had been more selfish.
“yer still made it.”
with your eyes darting towards the ceiling in hopes to keep those waves of frustration and sorrow back, a tear or two still slipped from the corner of your eyes as you stubbornly refused to blink them away.
“why…did it have to be this way?”
the words trembled along with your fingers that held the last thing you ever wanted to hold in your life, even if you knew it was inevitable.
“yer would think she said that because she knew?”
oh god, just the thought of her words echoing along with the memories you shared together was enough to bring you down. your heart ached so much as the sight of her smile in the small photo frame in front of you.
‘if it’s meant to be, it will be.’
you wanted to at least make her proud with all her constant nagging of wanting to meet her grandchildren, yet had you known her time was numbered, perhaps you would never leave in the first place.
“i didn’t know—”
“—no one knew what will happen in the future—”
“—two years! it was only two more years i could’ve—”
with gentle arms soothing your back, you spilled every regret, frustration and pain into his shoulder as if everything was a lie. as if this was all a bad dream and you’ll wake up tomorrow studying for your final exams. before you made the stupid decision to leave, to just disappear without a goodbye, and maybe she will still be here nagging for you two to get married soon.
“did she say anything?”
your red puffy eyes did nothing to hinder your nimble fingers as you peeled an orange with ease.
“about yer?”
you nodded, gently placing the finished one next to the alter before proceeding to peel another one.
kita watched as you did what you would always do back in the days, and somehow he could feel the tears prickling the corner of his eyes at the endearing sight of you he had been constantly replying in his mind so he wouldn’t forget. like a routine he wished to be able to relive again.
naturally, he took another teacup and poured you some tea as you broke the orange in half for him.
“she said if yer coming back, she wants to be the first to see us get married.”
you hummed.
“and that she hope yer would stop feeling guilty for leaving because she knew about yer dream.”
you nodded and for once, finally tore your eyes away from her to the stars in front of the balcony.
“i wish we could have just stayed together from the start. even though that wasn’t the initial wish i kept praying.”
kita couldn’t help but chuckle knowing you still had the habit of saying your wishes aloud. his gaze softened at the way you laid right by his side so effortlessly, as if your absence never happened. perhaps, he knew all along that even if it took ten years for you to come back, it would still feel right. you would still fit perfectly like a mold you made him out to be where it’s only right if it’s you.
“yer weren’t the only one praying to the stars, but i guess i would also wish yer were here with me from the start. at least,”
tightening his arms around your frame, he decided it wouldn’t be so bad to be selfish for once.
“i know yer would be here until the end.”
“yes, until we grow old and wrinkly.”
“even if i nag at yer grave for hours?”
you chuckled at the old memory he just had to remind you of. seriously, you couldn’t believe he still remembered something so silly.
“even if you nag in front of our kids and grandkids, i would still love you nonetheless.”

— mikey gazed at the scenery rise and fall, his eyes lazily tracing over the different shapes of clouds dotted along the blue sky. he wondered why you insisted on pushing him when it felt like you wanted to be the one sitting on the swing. with his hands clasped loosely on the chains, for a brief a moment, mikey wondered if he should just let go. would he fly? how would that feel? he got curious. the urge to jump was like waves retreating before a tsunami. yet, before he could fully submerge himself into the free-fall of his own pleasure, the sudden light drizzle that came upon him seemed to hush up his thoughts. your firm grip on his shoulders put a halt to his momentum, his feet creating friction with the ground. “what’s wrong, mikey?” you had your hands cupped his soft cheeks, tilting his head up to look at you. it was then he realized, your hair was wet. your fringe leaving droplets of rain landing on his forehead, and although he hated the sun and its warm rays, it didn’t feel so bad with you by his side. perhaps, just like this sunshower, even a little passing rain could feel nice once in a while. a tiny smile was barely visible before he reached a hand out to the back of your neck. “nothing.” he mumbled, watching your eyes widen in surprise at the fleeting kiss he placed on your lips. maybe that curiosity of his could wait, for all he wants now is to have you occupy every inch of his mind. from your dimples to your crescent hues, the growing redness on the tip of your ears will always be his favorite. “shall we continue?”
— draken chuckled at another one of your failed attempt. it wasn’t like you to not ask for his help when it comes to wasting money on such games, perhaps this time you really wanted to win it yourself. “do you want me to help?” he noticed the angry pout hanging on your lips, pleading eyes finally darting over to him. with confidence laced in his words, he shot down the tiny piece of bottle cap with ease. “what did i say? aren’t i the best?” you snorted, taking the biggest teddy bear in your arms with a grin. “yes baby, the one and only.” he laughed, fingers almost pinching those soft cheeks of yours when he felt tiny droplets of rain against his skin. quickly, he lead you towards a nearby pavilion to take shelter. it wasn’t until you suddenly stop in your track did he turned to face you. the way your eyes sparkled mischievously did not go unnoticed by him when your innocent smile spread across your lips. with a hard push, he stumbled back a few steps as you ran away. “tag, you’re it!” you giggled when you caught a glimpse of surprise on his face. oh how surprised he was when you pulled such a stunt. not like he wasn’t used to it, but for once, he couldn’t help but laugh in amusement. you really do know how to bring different sides of him out. and this time, he wondered if the heavy pounding of his heart was from chasing after you, or the way your smile was ever so bright under the passing sunshower. your wet hair that danced along with the wind, the splashes of water against your feet, and the huge bear you were clinging onto, everything about the scene in front of him was breathtaking. “you’re too slow, ken!” perhaps it didn’t matter which was the correct answer, since you are the reason for both of it as well. “don’t regret starting this when i catch you later.”
— mitsuya watched you twirled in a carefree manner behind the camera. it was another unplanned shoot for his new collection, and having you, his muse, try it before anyone else was always his priority. after all, his favorite part in his line of work was having you model each and every piece of his artwork. “come here, my love.” you extended your hand out, a smile graced his lips at your invitation. taking your hand in his, you pulled him towards the pebble of steps by a calm river. it was one of those days where the sun was sitting high in the sky, the reflection of you smiling at him was clearly shown on the surface of the water. he was just about to snap a picture when a ripple caused the image to distort. it didn’t take long before more ripples were formed. being prepared as always, he took out a transparent umbrella from his bag. “i wouldn’t want my precious model getting sick, now would i?” he tapped your nose when you feel the tiny droplets stop falling onto your open palm. you frown, not liking the way he dismissed your fun. of course, a little umbrella would not stop you. with a huge grin, you lifted your dress up with your hands. “surely you can always find someone to replace me, mister popular designer.” with a wink, you hopped away from him and onto the other stones ahead. when you turned back to stick your tongue out, he realized perhaps you were hanging out with his little sisters too much. luna, especially, might have rubbed some of her mischief onto you. a sigh of content escaped his lips as he followed along, watching you light on your feet a few steps ahead. just as you slipped on your next landing, he broke your fall when he pulled you towards his chest. “no one can ever replace you though.” he let the umbrella slipped from his fingers, hands around your back when he lifted you up with ease. you chuckled, your finger combing his lilac locks away from his face. “what if you get sick too?” you rest your forehead against his, the sun doing real little to warm his back when he could feel all the heat making its way to his cheeks. does it matter? he thought, capturing your lips with his. once more, again and again. “i think it’ll be worth it for today, don’t you?”
— kazutora squeezed your hand in his, a smile on his face when you tugged at the collar of the akita inu you were helping him take a walk with. the ball of fluff wagging its tail excitedly at whoever that walked passed, obviously wanting a pat or two from them. “he reminds me of you sometimes.” you thought aloud, your gaze fell onto the little girl ruffling up the cheeks of the dog with her little hands. “what do you mean by that?” he gasped, tugging your hand to look his way. he loved the way your eyes softened at the kids playing with the dog, but he was more concerned about what you said. did you just compare him to a dog? you smiled at the parents of those kids, returning a small bow before resuming the walk. “oh, you know,” you stalled, biting back a laugh when he waited for you finish your sentence. maybe he did know the meaning behind your words, for he wasn’t oblivious to the times you cooed at him like how you would towards the pets in his shop. maybe he just wanted to be loved the same way they were loved, and maybe he wouldn’t mind being labeled as one if he belongs to you. “because you’re just that cute too.” your words probably wasn’t everything you wanted to convey, but it was okay. when the sky let those droplets of rain fall, he watched you struggle to hold onto the excited ball of fluff. kazutora hated the rain, the drizzle feeling prickly against his skin, but somehow he didn’t mind it today. was it because he was with you? instead of taking the ropes away from you, he carried the dog into his arms. “shall we run back to the shop?” you nodded, tipping your toes to give him a pat on his head. a laugh slipped from his lips at your gesture, even though it was short, it was enough to ease himself from the sudden sunshower. “i’ll dry your hair and we can cuddle afterwards, okay?” maybe a little rain wouldn’t hurt if he gets to indulge in your affection each time.

“i’ll dry your hair and we can cuddle afterwards, okay?” maybe a little rain wouldn’t hurt if he gets to indulge in your affection each time.
fluff ; age up (manga version) ; just some love in simple moments
— mikey would be reluctant at first, wondering what came over you. confusion knitted in his brows, he’d silently watch you guide him to the middle of your living room. with a warm smile on your lips, he could feel his body ease into your embrace when you wrapped your arms around his waist. and as he rest his head against the crook of your neck, you started to hum a slow tune. the one song he remembered you would always listen to on repeat. eventually, he found himself swaying along with your fluid movements, tired eyes fluttering close as he allowed himself to drown in this moment of your love. “i love you more than the bad days ahead~ there will be times when your heart will forget~ so i’ll say it over and over again~ so you know for sure~ darlin’ i love you more~”
— draken would shoot you a raised brow, but you could see the amusement hanging from his lips. when you whined about your tired hand that was still outstretched in front of him, he contemplated if he should just let you wait a little longer. of course, when your lips twist into a frown, he took your hand and pulled you close to his chest. “did i make my princess wait too long?” he sure did, but how could you stay mad when he was staring down at you with so much affection reflected in his soft gaze? “i hate you,” was the only petty reply you could retort, but he knew what you meant whenever you say that. “i know, i love you too.” he only had to plant a quick kiss to your nose for you to melt in his arms. “i hate that i love you so much.”
— mitsuya would be happy to do whatever you want him to do, a gentle smile on his lips as he followed you out to the balcony. before you could do anything else, he was already wrapping you in his cardigan and making sure you wouldn’t catch a cold. and that’s what you love so much about him, for he never find your little favors weird. instead, he would do anything within his capabilities but still looking out for you at the same time. “aren’t i heavy though?” you giggled nervously, your hands on his shoulders to keep your balance when he move step by step in a slow circle. “you? i wonder if you’re taking care of yourself with how light you are on my feet.” his words dyed your cheeks rosy as you hit his chest in embarrassment. “stop lying when i can see you perspiring, baka-kashi”
— baji would not hesitate even for a second when he lifted you up, effortlessly having you sit on his arms as if you weigh as light as a feather. your surprise giggles were like music to his ears, as you cupped your hand on both side of his cheeks. he had that toothy grin on his lips, golden-brown eyes that sparkled under the rays of the moonlight. his hair that swayed along with the ocean breeze sent shivers down your spine when some of it caressed against your skin. “i thought i asked for a dance?” he nodded his head to your obvious question. “spinning you around also counts right?” and you were almost ready to correct him until he started twirling you in his arms. you squealed at first, but laughed as he slows down from the dizziness. “stop being so cute, kei.” you pressed a kiss to his lips when he lowered you to the ground, his smile disappeared into a pout at your choice of word. “but i’m not cute.”
— chifuyu stared at you in confusion. even the cat he carried in his arms had a blank look that mocked your sudden request. however, how could he resist when you showed your cutest little puppy dog eyes at him. “just this once,” he sighed and removed the apron he was wearing. he thought it was those silly dance you always film yourself doing, until he felt your arms circling around his neck. your breath tickling the side of his cheeks as his heart sped up at the sudden closeness. “why is your face so red?” you chuckled at the blush deepening from the apple of his cheeks to the tip of his ears. it was so easy to tease him, his reaction always never fail to make your heart flutter in adoration. “i’d really kill you if someone walks into the shop right now.”
— kazutora would have the biggest grin on his face when he extended his hand out with a bow, mimicking those fairytale prince you would always watch. your smile widened at his initiative, doing your best to give a curtesy when you place your hand in his. in one swift moment, he had his other hand on your waist before randomly taking steps to the left or right, front or back. you just laughed and followed his guidance, sometimes twirling and dipping on your back when he wants you to. you didn’t think he would take your silly request seriously, yet the way his gaze was so soft and blissful, it made you forget that you were just taking a stroll in the park with him. the sound of applause from little kids at the playground had you burying your face in his chest. “why are you shy when you’re the one who asked for a dance.” you could feel the vibration of his laughter against your ears when you tilted your head up to look at him with a pout. “i never said i wanted it now, tora!”
ryūguji ken was definitely surprised when he saw you in front of his room, with the manager of the brothel he lives in chiding him for not taking care of you better.
there were many questions he wanted to ask you, but the way you silently held your head down was enough to at least know what you wanted from him—that much he knew from all the bad days he witnessed of you.
“did something happened?” his voice was soft and unnecessarily warm. the kind that made the walls around your heart crumbled with ease because you know he would listen; as if nothing mattered more than stringing those worries out of you.
with his large hand on your back, he pulled into his chest and made sure you get the hug you needed. because why else would you be standing in front of him unannounced?
warmth. the feeling of being in the comfort of his embrace made you realized how tensed and suffocated you felt in your own home. the very home you love and who loves you as well—that’s why it was all the more hurtful.
“i know my condition wasn’t great…and perhaps i was a little more sensitive than usual too,” you broke the silence after having calmed down from the weights of your thoughts that fueled this unexpected visit.
“but they didn’t have to say it like that, you know? i did tried my best. i just—i don’t want to assume and make a wrong decision—i never said i wouldn’t do it. they didn’t have to make it sound like i don’t want to.”
ken nodded along, his hand rubbing on your back as he felt your tears stain the corner of his shirt you were leaning against.
“and you know what’s worst? i can’t even say anything about my feelings because i know they wouldn’t understand. and i can’t even hate them for it.”
you were angry, for you hated more than anything else to be shamed as if you were guilty, yet you know all too well that it’s a habit that runs in your precious family.
he hummed in understanding, even if he doesn’t relate to the entirety of your situation, he knew you were always vulnerable to others emotions. it made it easy for others to hold it against you, as well as your own thoughts.
there were so much he wanted to say, but he knew no matter what words he used, it’ll never truly make you let go of this conflicted feeling that stemmed from years of ignorance in your childhood. and so he did what he knew best.
he would enveloped you in a tight hug for a few seconds before moving his hands to rubbed the remaining tears away from your eyes with his thumb. a smile would grace his lips when he peck the corner of your eyes, to your nose and cheeks, slowly but lovingly; pampering you with tiny kisses you used to always do to cheer him up when he was angry.
it didn’t take long for you to forget about the negative feelings you once held, and now all you could ever think about was the feeling of his tender lips on yours—which he was sure taking his own sweet time.
“someone’s impatient?” he mused at the look you gave him when he peck the corner of your lips, loving the way you glared at his teasing.
“i can’t believe you’re teasing me when i—” he didn’t want to hear the end of it, so he took the opportunity to silence you with what seemed to be the best remedy. “you happy now?” he chuckled, licking the bottom of his lips at your expression.
“no, so do it again,” you leaned closer to his face this time, a silly grin on your lips when he rolled his eyes. “again and again until i feel better.”
“if you can tease me back, you already are feeling better.” he chuckled, his hand messing up your hair a little before planting another sweet kiss to your lips.
“and if you haven’t notice, it’s almost four in the morning. let’s just sleep okay?”
you wanted to protest but what he said next truly took you by surprise. honestly, it made you tear up again, because he reminded you of the words you struggled to tell yourself every time you feel alone with your emotions.
“y/n, it’s okay to cry. you don’t have to always be the bigger person. i’m here, so you don’t need to hold it in all right?”

fluff ; abstract ; compilation ; just hoping to put a smile to @luvbub face because it’s her birthday and i have been a long-time fan of her writings.
— akaashi has this little habit of linking your pinky with his whenever he wanted your attention at times. it wasn’t something he does often enough for him to notice himself, but you only realized after that one time he did not let go after getting your attention. you just let him hold your hand that way until he naturally laced the rest of his fingers with yours. since it was a cute habit that does not happen often, you like to keep it that way, as if it was a little surprise you can look forward to each time it happens.
— he finds himself easily lost in a daze whenever he watched you concentrate on the things you love doing. it could be times when you were whipping up something simple for breakfast, reading that one book you finally had the time for, knitting yet another sweater when he knew the scarf you initially worked on was not even complete yet, or just scrolling through your phone. it wasn’t until the sound of your laughter snapped him back as you chide him for staring at you again. akaashi could tell you were embarrassed to be under his gaze at times so he always apologized for it, but that doesn’t mean he would stop doing it though. he couldn’t help himself when you were like a breath of fresh air whenever he needed a break from his thoughts. and he finds it amusing at times when he was brought back to reality by a pillow you threw with a huff.
— even though akaashi tends to love through his actions more so than his words, there were times you wondered how he could say sweet nothings with ease and not feel embarrassed about it. “i don’t like the way i look in pictures.” you were scrolling through your photo albums one day and he, who was reading next to you, glanced down at the pictures you were busy editing. “you know why?” you looked up at him with a raised brow waiting for him to answer. “you know how the moon always looked beautiful in the night sky but our phones can never capture its beauty with our camera?” you nodded at his words, only to fully grasp what he meant a few minutes later. “yeah that’s why.” at times like this, he really knows how to tug on your heartstrings so effortlessly.
— they say when someone loves you, they love everything about you. and you know, somewhere deep within your heart, you wished it was true. because you knew there were times when the rough edges you tried to hide away will one day hurt the ones closest to you. yet, you forgot about how love is equivalent to that of growth. when they say they love everything about you, they meant they will love you through the changes. it wasn’t about loving you for who you are, but loving you even after what you will become. and that was the love akaashi seem to have for you. he would have moments where he just sat next to you in silence, giving you the space you need, but also reminding you that he will always there for you.
— the most wonderful and fantastic thing about akaashi is that he doesn’t just love you as his romantic partner. the little things he do for you that makes you laugh, it was like being in love with a friend. the little adventures he was willing to go with you, it was like being in love with the world. and especially those little things he do when he takes care of you and your family, it was like being in love with the idea of having your own family. that was the the kind of love he has when he’s with you.
“all is fair in love and war, but some battles leave no victor, only a trail of broken hearts that makes us wonder if the price we pay is ever worth the fight.” - Lady Whistledown
a little collab event I’ve been meaning to start since finishing Bridgerton season 2 and having that forbidden love & enemies to lovers trope stuck in my mind.
𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬
there is nothing quite as frustrating as a love you can’t have especially with someone who was supposed to be your enemy. pick a character from haikyū, bnha, jjk, tokyorev and write about a story with a forbidden love and/or enemies to lovers trope. it could be anything, from crushing on your best friend’s SO to being forced to publicly separate but continue dating in secret. will your forbidden love / enemies to lovers get its happily ever after or will it end in tragedy? after all, no victors are guaranteed in war.
anything is fair game. what are we waiting for? let the love wars begin!

i love how it’s drizzling during the golden hour, painting the streets a warm yellow hue. i’ve been staring at the view outside my window for almost a while and it’s honestly so calming.
tbh i just want to be in kita or mitsuya’s arms right now ;;

a. note: i didn’t mean to write something so heart-wrenchingly but i just couldn’t seem to get over my emotions when i saw mikey asking for help in the manga. i just could not forget about it.
“are you sure?”
with his hand on top of yours, ken asked you once again if you were serious. even if he thought otherwise about your decision, he still wanted to respect your wishes.
“yes, i’m sure. i can’t—” you paused, looking up and away from the man you selfishly pulled into your scheme.
“—i can’t have him worrying over me with what little time i have. i wouldn’t want our last memory to be sad, you know?” a chuckle escaped your trembling lips, albeit one that ken could tell wasn’t quite genuine.
“it’ll be okay, i promise.”
your words, with the intention of reassuring ken, felt more like it was for yourself, as your gaze wandered to the setting sun. the way the sky has dyed a hue of pinkish-purple, softening the ordeal of your situation; almost as if all your problems will just disappear if you let yourself drown in its beauty. yet, even such moments were short-lived.
“it’s all right,” his voice snapped your attention back to him, “i’ll be there with him.”
“i know.”
the tiny smile sprouting from the corner of your lips was enough to have him return one as well.
“y/n~ are you crying again?” mikey with both his hands in his pocket, teased you cheekily when those pearl-like tears fell ever so gently from your eyes.
taking a step closer to you, a silly smile graced his lips when he rubbed his thumb over the corner of your eyes. “who should i beat up this time, baby? tell me.”
oh, how you wish he could knock those nasty cells out of your body.
“no one, mikey. i just didn’t know what came over me.”
there must’ve been a reason, but mikey did not press you for it. instead, he decided to bring you to the place he knew best to clear his mind. his favourite spot.
“let’s go.”
he intertwined his fingers with yours and pulled you towards his second baby, CB250T. he had your arms locked firmly around him before taking off, speeding through the streets with ease—allowing the breeze to carry away the remaining tears of yours.
“mikey, are you happy?”
you tilted your head up to sneak a glance from the crook of his neck, fingers dancing across the concrete under your knitted knees.
“are you?”
you rolled your eyes, disappointed at the answer he gave after leaving you in suspense for a minute.
“i am. with you, i always am.”
“me too.”
the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled under the sun, although you weren’t sure how true it was. you knew there was so much more weight in his heavy heart. and to know that you too will be another added reason, it almost made you tear up again.
“mikey,” you called out to him, this time you decided to gaze at the horizon that seem to stretch forever beyond the everlasting azure sky. you wondered if your meeting with mikey were like the scenery in front of you.
the way the sky seemed to leave a gentle kiss on the surface of the sea, only to realize that it was never meant to meet no matter how far you chased.
“it’s important to know that we’re a lot more than the bad things that have happened to us.”
of course, as much as it was hard to accept the depth of your words, it still tugged on his heartstrings in ways he could not quite understand yet.
“why are you getting all sappy, y/n~?”
his fingers pinched your nearest cheek, a chuckle leaving his lips at the sight of your pouting lips.
“it’s not my words anyway, i just heard it somewhere!” you huffed, fingers all ready to pinch him back.
“i know.”
the sudden drop in his tone had you widened your eyes in surprise. it was only two words, but it felt like there was so much more to it than he let on.
“did you know?”
ken parted his lips for a reply he was already prepared to answer, but nothing came out. he knew what he needed to say, the words replaying in his mind again and again. yet, it was caught at the tip of his tongue, hanging for its dear life because he was scared.
that mikey would be mad at him? no. that mikey would be mad at you? perhaps. the thing that scared him the most was what mikey would do next.
the mere silence was enough of a response to know what his friend promised behind his back. he was angry, he definitely was. with ken? with you? or the world for being so utterly unfair?
how could they rob him of the love that gave him a piece of his heart back? how many more cracks must he endure before he could be whole again?
what if he was never meant to be whole?
“y/n wanted the last memory to be your smile—”
“was that why they always looked like they want to cry at the sight of me? why they were so eager to go to the festival knowing it was their last?”
mikey pulled ken down with a fist on his collar, he couldn’t believe you would lie to him. you promised to stay with him, that you would always be there for him. even when he broke down at the thought of losing his close friend if it weren’t for takemitchi, he had never thought he would lose you. it never crossed his mind, for he know he would do anything to have you by his side.
“i’m sorry, mikey.”
what could he do even if he knew?
“y/n believed in the small chance of success and wanted to make you proud of their own effort.”
why did your last words hurt more now than it was before?
you were always so adorable. mikey knew that from how you eyed those goldfish with so much concentration to the way you would leave crumbs of food on the corner of your lips. he could never tear his eyes away from you because you were just that precious to him.
“if you keep staring at me like that, you’re bound to fall on your ass.”
“i might just fall for you—”
before he could finish his sentence, you were already shoving the piece of taiyaki in his mouth. at times like this, you wondered why is he such a cheeky dork. one that had you grinning with a playful blush on your cheeks.
the blissful moment was interrupted by tiny droplets of rain as you spread your palm out to feel the intensity of it. “let’s take shelter by that tree.” you pointed towards the corner, tugging mikey along by his yukata sleeve.
somehow you could tell mikey was distracted, his eyes wandering around the bustling street while his hand rubbed the phone in his pocket.
“mikey, is everything okay?”
your worried voice snapped him back to his senses, eyes turning crescent at the casual grin he sent your way. “yup!” his feet rocked back and forth as he shifted his weight to see you better.
“you know,” your eyes met him in an attempt to form the words you have been meaning to tell him for some time.
however, a message interrupted his attention and from the look he had, you knew he was going to leave again. and you hated it. you hated the fact that you had to bite your inner lips to hold down the dam before it broke.
“sorry y/n, i need to—”
with a tight grip on his sleeve, you muttered the words that he hadn’t known would be your last.
“manjirō, you can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
