'What happened to the man I knew who wished for no more war? The boy who drew such wonderful things?'
'Nobody wanted them.'
The Hammer of Olympia made me cry. 🥲
Real.
If I had a nickel for every critically acclaimed narrative precision platformer with a female protagonist iconically associated with the colour red whose lead developer came out as trans within a year of its release, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but etc.
Jasmine Vine, lead programmer of Hollow Knight & Silksong just transitioned!! I'm so happy for her!❤️🏳️⚧️
so I just watched the odyssey movie....
and I made this within 5 minutes of returning. so I think that sums up my thoughts on it. (though im willing to rant more if ppl want it. cause I have COMPLAINTS)
Cannot stress enough: regardless if you like or don’t like or won’t see the movie version, read the Odyssey! Listen to the audiobook! It’s engaging and entertaining, a lot of it is familiar from other myths and stories, and it’s moving and funny. Athena is trying to lay low among mortals but repeatedly leaves conversations by turning into an eagle and flying away. It’s great
zero stars for nolan because odysseus, on his journey home to ithaca, was NOT visited by a ghost that tells him that once he reaches his home, once he slays all his enemies and sets his house in order he must do one last thing before he can rest. the ghost does NOT tell him to pick up an oar, walk inland, keep walking, until somebody mistakes that oar for a shovel. for that would be the place that no man has ever been troubled by the sea. and that's where he'd find peace.
hearing anything about the nolan odyssey is so funny. it's like "they cut the extremely important and infamous nobody scene" "the cyclops is a giant puppet that they put in an actual historical cave + gave circe animatronics for her pig transformation instead of cgi" "they dumped plastic skeletons in an environmentally protected location they were not supposed to be in" "they recreated ancient greek instruments in order to have an accurate score" "all of odysseus's agency is basically gone" "anne hathaway actually learned how to weave ancient looms" "the women in this movie are treated like shit" "they actually buried actors alive to get those underworld shots" "did you see what the fuck zendaya was fucking wearing holy shit you can't DO THAT, MA'AM" "what do you mean there was a legitimate epic the musical reference" "NOT A SINGLE FUCKING GREEK WAS CAST IN THIS MOVIE"
like did nolan have two guys standing at his side at all times whispering ideas in his ear and one told the truth and the other told lies and they didnt tell him which was which until they wrapped production cause

Okay guys, we’ve got to wrap it up now with the monsterfucking and find something new to do. It’s getting write-ups in GQ, it’s so over.
Sometimes, in their obsession with monsters, humans end up finding other humans. In 2019, Cachét developed a crush on Salad Fingers, the main character in a British cult web cartoon. She drew porn of Salad Fingers and sent it to David Firth, the show’s creator. Firth loved it and followed her back. “He thought I was a guy because no girl would draw porn of Salad Fingers,” Cachét says.
They started messaging. Cachét complimented his drawing of a human-bug threesome and asked for a print. Three years later, Cachét and David got married. The human-bug threesome drawing hangs on the wall of their home.
Okay this does kind of rule though.
I don't think I've ever seen an artist misunderstand their own work's target audience quite so starkly as David Firth finding it implausible that a woman would want to fuck Salad Fingers.
girl who loves her friends so much but is so bad and awful at messaging them back for some reason even though she really really wants to talk to them
I fucking love this video
