When you ask, depending on the person, who Nabu was.
A lot of people would say he was a fine and gentle man. A kind hearted soul who make everyone smile.
Others would say how he was an amazing wizard. Talented and skilled for his age and how he was dedicated to protect. Even if it meant his life was at risk.
Which is what unfortunately what happened.
In 2009, Nabu sacrifice his life to close the Abyss to save Tir Na Log kingdom. Afterwards, he was made to rest in the Tir Na Log castle for possibly the rest of his life.
However. There were rumors of him saying he would wake up. Morgana herself tells the Winx and the Specialist that he would rest here until he wakes up.
But others said he had already died by the time the abyss closed, he was dying in Aisha's arms.
Aisha did hope that the rumors were true, although she had some doubt, especially since her kingdom Andros got attacked again by her cousin Tritannus. Some like her, and Nabu's parents tell her to move on and focus on the now, even if she's still lingering on the hope of her husband alive.
Fortunately for her, Aisha's wishes were answered, as after almost 2 years, Nabu has finally woken up.
Now, a lot of people thought and believed what would Nabu's reaction be.
Would he be relieved he's alive?
Would his first thought be Aisha and how he was gonna reunite with her?
Would he come back up to his feet and become a mage again?
A lot of speculation circled around about Nabu when he first woke up.
All of those questions would be answered when Nabu opened his eyes.
And what was his first reaction?
Pain...
Lots of pain...
Like, full-on screaming pain.
Now, during his coma, the healer Earth faires and the Rustic Fairies did their best into healing him.
While they were able to not make sure he dies.
They were unable to heal him fully.
When he was closing the abyss, some or should I say most of the dark magic not only went into his wand, but also into him. Which weakened his body and put him in a lot of pain.
His coma, due to lack of mobility and was still for almost 2 years, led to him having long-term join and pain issues.
The magic spread all over his body, which affected his eyes permanently. Making him blind.
Aisha plus his parents were distraught seeing Nabu's condition. They took him to a trusted doctor, the royal doctor, in hopes of treating him quickly.
But the doctor said that Nabu's condition would take a long time for him to recover, it might be even permanent and he had to live like this for possibly the rest of his life.
Obviously, everyone was upset and shocked when it happened, especially Aisha. First, her kingdom and family are getting destroyed now, her own husband is suffering.
So Nabu was requested to be taken care of and treated. Originally, he was gonna rest in his home, but it was decided for him to rest in the Andros castle as it had better medicine and treatment for him, and there were maids, and butlers to help and take care of him, often giving him food and helping him change his clothes.
He was given medication, had to have physical therapy twice a week, get doctor visits, and have intervention procedures via shots just so his condition doesn't get worse, in order to get somewhere he was given crutches and would be given a cane or knee braces if he's getting better, and would have to modify his lifestyle fully due to it.
The Specialist and the Winx, more so Helia and Flora, also help to treat their friend. Brandon would mend him to help him exercise and train his body to recover, Sky would aid him with changing him.
Riven be beside him during his time off. Given updates of everyone, or just lend in a shoulder for Nabu cry on when things got really tough.
Heila and Flora did most of the healing. Making him homemade meals and making sure he takes his medication. Bloom, too. She felt bad for not healing him sooner and gave him some healing magic as a way to make up and did apologize for it, she however was advised not to use her magic a lot as it was required for him to heal slowly and on his own as the doctors feared using so much healing magic would give him awful complications and his health would grow worse.
Tecna and Timmy would also give updates and help with giving health updates or help him try to modify his life.
Musa played music to comfort him.
Stella gave and made brand new clothes for him as a way of saying get well soon. But she also comforted Aisha and listened to her vent about Andros and Nabu.
And Aisha, his loving wife, often visited him. Again, she was told to focus on the now and to getting Sirenix to save her kingdom and should stop seeing Nabu for a while just to not get distracted, but her parents and Musa and Flora argued that she's going through a lot and criticism is not needed right now.
Whenever she visited, she stayed for hours. Sometimes, until the moon raised, she hated seeing Nabu like this but is glad he is alive and knows he would recover soon.
Nabu thinks the opposite.
All of this change and modification altered his mental health drastically. The thought of not being there to help fight with his friends destroyed him.
He hated being taken care of. He hated having to have help all the time with everything. From food giving to him on his bedside just so he can eat, to helping him change, doing his hair, his medication, aiding him to go to one place to another, to even him having to get assistance to take a bath.
To him, he was treated like a child. Now no one babied him, everyone, especially his friends, treated him normally as before, but in his mind, he's treated like a five year old who needs everyday support for the simplest things.
He absolutely loved helping and taking care of everyone else. If they need extra support or assistance, then he immediately took the opportunity. If they needed protection or saving, then he was right there. It didn't matter if his life was at risk. As long as the people and the ones he loved were okay, then he was 100% happy and grateful.
Helping gives him joy and happiness. He loved taking care and protecting everyone. That's one of the reasons he was a wizard, protecting people and making sure their safe always makes him feel like he's something, like he means something. Something that aids people, that protects people.
But now, due to his condition.
What is he exactly?
All of his life was dedicated to the Guardian Wizard of Andros. He didn't mind, he actually liked it.
His entire life was using his wand, practicing, and using spells he used. This was his entire life.
Yet, because of his condition, 'cause of his coma and changes with his body, he was forced to retire from being a mage entirely.
There were instances even before he met the Winx and the Specialist that his life was put on a line and how being a wizard was risky and even dangerous. His parents were worried about that before and advised Nabu to be careful and were thinking of stopping him all together, but after his coma, they decided to completely stop him from being a mage at all
In response, he argued and chastised his parents. Being a Wizard was his entire life they can't just take it away from him! What would he do now, just stay in bed all day!?
He was angry at his parents' decision. Even more angry when King Teredor, Queen Niobe, and even Riven agreed to it. He was never this angry before. He was always such a calm man, so this was really uncalled and shocked for him to respond like that.
He continued arguing until Aisha intervened and yelled at him to stop. Afterward, he just cried, cried, and begged to let him keep being a mage, begged not to make force to retire and that he could heal quickly enough to get back up on his feet.
But the decision was done, and his parents made up their minds. They told him it was better for him to retire just so he could rest and heal and focus on his health.
But that didn't matter. Without being a wizard, what is he now? Being Wizard meant he was useful, but how 'cause of his retirement, he's nothing.
He now feels like a total burden to everyone, an object to everyones lives. What can he do now? He never really got into any hobbies besides spell casting or magic practice, so now it feels like a big gap was taking away from him.
In short, without being known as a well-known wizard, without being one at all, to him, his life is completely ruined.
He now feels useless to everyone, like everyone was forced to take care of the once powerful mage.
He couldn't even do almost any of his spells, he forgot how to even cast them.
He hated it and despised it.
His anger grew when Roy came around. His younger brother.
He was also a mage just like Nabu, although he was more engrossed in Marine Biology. Becoming a Marine Biologist to study the sea life in Magix's oceans but did use his magic when needed.
He was only a few years younger than Nabu, 19 years old, a year younger than Aisha, and 3 years younger than Nabu. He was a smart and talented guy, especially for his age. He was also a skilled of using his wand, not as great as Nabu but still amazing.
Roy was given or requested to become the next main Wizard after he heard about his older brothers condition. He was hesitant at first, considering being a full-time Wizard wasn't really for him but would do anything to protect Andros and protecting the princess Aisha, who he looked up to.
Everyone was happy when Roy was granted this status.
Everyone except for Nabu.
Well, first, he was happy to reunite with his younger brother again after not seeing each other for so long.
But he wasn't as happy about the announcement.
Was he happy that Roy gave something that required a lot of responsibility? Yes. Kinda...
Was he happy when he found out why? No.
His parents said it's for his own good, but he thinks they're replacing him.
Due to his condition, he thought they replaced him for someone who could take in his place.
Someone that was just like him.
Someone that could be useful cause he wasn't.
Considering his health, it would be a waste for him to become a mage again and he ends up being a waste of space for everyone around him.
Ending up hurting others and himself.
They didn't want to do it, but they had to. Especially with Andros' situation.
For his own good they said.
Own good his ass.
That made it worse.
They "replaced" him because he wasn't useful anymore.
Wasn't valuable to anything.
So they had to put someone to fill in his position.
His position.
It was his.
Not anyone else's.
His alone.
That anger and a little resentment led to envy.
Envy towards Roy.
He isn't public about it.
He would never publicly express that. He osnt that person.
Infact. He wasn't the type of person to even have a feeling of resentment or even enviousness at all.
So why is he feeling this way now!?
The only time he felt envy was when he saw kids having fun and being kids while he wasn't. That was the only time, a time he later forgot as time went on.
But now?
This feeling and all of those negative emotions he has felt are so new to him.
He never let his negative feelings get the better of him. He was the one who rarely showed anger!
He hates it!
He hates feeling this way!
He doesn't want to feel this way!
And yet he is! He's feeling envious towards his own brother who did nothing wrong but gotten the position of being a guardian wizard.
Roy did nothing wrong, and there Nabu was feeling envy of him being a mage while he was forced to resign!
He doesn't know how to feel the way he's feeling.
If he just accepts it or ignores it.
Whatever it is, it's slowly eating him alive.
He is at a such low point of a his life.
The constant pain, his weakened body, his forced resignation, everything.
At this point, he wished he didn't survive his coma.
He wished death came the moment he closed the abyss.
He hoped it wasn't the outcome he longed for.
But at least death would be far more peaceful and it would ended his suffering.
But at the same time it scared him.
Cause if he dies, then what would be everyone's reaction?
Upset?
Sadness?
Maybe forever grieving.
What would Aisha think?
Oh Aisha. His dear Aisha.
He wouldn't want do that to her.
He wouldn't want her to be sad and miserable about him.
Why is he being so selfish?
He's being taken care of so well, and everyone is assisting him and supporting him. Why is he being selfish?!
Why is he only thinking about himself and not everyone else!?
Why not Andros?
Why not the Specialist?
The Winx?
His family?
Why not his own wife!?
...
The Nabu before was once an amazing skilled Mage who made everyone smile and made someone feel protected.
A guy who was useful and valuable due to that.
But now. What was he?
A shell of his former self that's what.
A shell of someone who once patient, rational, social, and understanding man.
It's slowly destroying him.
Everything about him was made into ashes.
Right now...
He wished this was all a dream.
Wished he would close his eyes and wake up back to 2009, where everything was happy. Where he and Aisha would talk about their future together.
He wishes he would close his eyes and never wake up.
Wishing he never survived that damn coma.

There is barely any angst of him besides his death, like come on, GIVE ME MORE!!!
That man is not coming back to his feet after spending a YEAR in a coma. Even the most perfect man has his ups and downs and low points in life.
It was so much drawing him omg.
Don't worry, he gets better. He's not gonna be depressed all the time he's gonna have character development and an arc and even some focused episodes for him.
Off topic, but if you are feeling this exact way or something related to that, you aren't alone, and I'm terribly sorry for you going through something like this. It does get better 💖💖
Girly media is so important, actually. Where else are you going to find shows that constantly and consistently depict how hyper femininity and badassery aren't mutually exclusive? As a matter of fact, more often than not, they even portray their tomboys much more realistically and respectfully than most male-led media.

TO CLARIFY - this is a JOKE. I spent the day on TikTok and learned that some people get a little defensive if you joke about or criticize the reboot.
I know it's a show for kids. I know it's a reboot. I KNOW I'm not the target audience. And I KNOW that I can share my opinions and joke around as I please.
You know. In seasons 4 and 5-7, the Winx should or would be a bit protective over Roxy.
'Cause they had suffered so much shit and almost dying and the world almost destroying was an everyday thing basically, especially during Season 3. Having to fight against awful people(Trix, Darkkar, Valtor, Ancestral Witches) all while doing their studies at Alfea, and they all almost DIED(except for Aisha and Bloom because Aisha went blind and Bloom forced it out) or almost lost something precious to them like Aisha when Andros was attacked, just to get Enchantix all at 16-18 years old. They were BARELY adults.
So when they are required to get Roxy and protect her, I think they would be protective over her. They would realize if they don't, the Wizards would find her and capture and possibly kill her! They, especially Bloom, don't want Roxy to suffer the same shit they suffered when they were her age, they would want her to rather focus on her studies at Alfea and live her life normally as a teen fairy.
Roxy reminds them of themselves in the past, again, especially Bloom. They are her mentors who would help Roxy learn her magic and powers and all about Magix,and if something happens to her, they would forever blame themselves for it. Blame themselves for not being able to keep her safe and away from super dangerous stuff.
They might look calm on the outside whenever Roxy's in danger(like the time Wizards captured her and her dad), but on the inside, they might be panicking, slightly blaming themselves, and possibly silently threatening the Wizards death like when they were confronting fake Klaus/Duman their minds would've been like:
"Tell us where the fuck Roxy is or we'll decapitated all your fucking heads and burn the place down with you 3 in it."
In my opinion, they all see Roxy as their little sister. They don't want anything bad happening to her. They probably think they are at fault for the things Roxy went through in season 4 and want to make sure/silently promising themselves to never let Roxy go through something awful again and to make Roxy have the best time in Alfea and Magix, making sure she had the best time without having to worry about Magix getting destroyed constantly.
Tdlr: The Winx see Roxy as their little sister and are protective of her, which in my opinion is why Roxy wasn't with them during missions in seasons 5-7(8 doesn't count she went nonexistent).
Ok, I haven't seen a lot of Roxy Winx fics lately so.
Maybe a chapter of Roxy venting to Bloom or Flora or Tecna about being a fairy and how she's still having mixish feelings about it and about Alfea and how it's a bit stressful with everyone having high expectations to be like the Winx since she's the 7th member(Or people telling her that she's going to be one of the Winx idk) and putting some pressure on her
And only venting to them because she felt like her voice wasn't being heard to the other girls or the professors. The only one besides them will probably be Ms Griselda as she found her comforting despite her strict demeanor.
