Mostly a note (actually a long rant) recent events w/ the PJEG team and the situation regarding Faza, and in turn the individuals who covered the situation up (both Sozzay and Tako), since I don't feel comfortable not talking about it—especially not when my account is what it is and my personal history with grooming.

I've mostly been reading over everything on Twitter, since I'm sure more is too come out. Plus, I'm not too active on Tumblr nowadays. So what I'm about so say will likely apply more to Twitter.

I feel like some of you guys care more about the game than you do the victim involved, which, of course I might be reading it wrong since I am sensitive about it. It's reasonable, perfectly fine to be upset about not knowing where the game is going, whether it gets canceled or not, or just knowing what your favorite character will likely be associated with. That's not okay is approaching what you say from only that lense. I've gone through multiple adaptations on what I mean by that, but it's difficult currently to word it the way it should be. So I will not be elaborating.

If you feel like the latter paragraph applies to too you, I don't feel negatively about you. It is however incredibly important to remain mindful of how you speak on this situation as well as future and past situations, even if they don't apply to Project: Edens Garden.

The Danganronpa community overall, especially in roleplay spaces, has a massive issue with grooming. It's half of the reason I've slowly started stepping away from it. It's most likely one of the worst communities I've been in, in regards to that. The situation with Project: Edens Garden is not a singular thing.

I say that not to downplay the situation with the victim and Faza, but to say we really do need to discuss this shit more than we currently do. It is absolutely insane that we don't, and I feel as if that increases these types of situations.

Hold those around you accountable, learn to see the signs of grooming (on top of what grooming is), and if you're an adult, for the love of god protect the minors around you. It is incredibly concerning to me that this took so long to come out, and how only a few people knew about this and where therefore able to cover it up.

In terms of where this account this going:

I frankly have no clue. I've had this account for so long that it's practically become my main, and this is the only account I speak to people on. So, it might be converted into general stuff, or I might link my other account if I can remember the login since I really do not want to leave you guys.

I do, however, also believe there should be a level of separation between the game + the situation with Faza, Sozzay and Tako. So I'm not too sure what too do, I'm sure I'll figure it out in a few days, however.

Project Eden’s Garden Situation

I want to make it clear before I say what I’m about to say, the actions taken by the VA and the team members who were aware of what happened are fucking deplorable and all I can do is wish my sincerest sympathy towards the victim. However, this is a message to *some* of the fans.

If you’re calling for Project Eden’s Garden to be shut down over this you’re genuinely out of touch. Yes it’s horrible and yes the team needs to carefully choose the next steps. However we can’t pretend like this stuff wouldn’t have happened due to better HR and PR or whatever. HR and PR only help after the event has already happened and been exposed, if nothing’s exposed they don’t work so this would have happened regardless because the VA and the person who kept it a secret are just bad people. And now the team has to use said HR and PR to fix this in its aftermath because thats how that works. Not to mention their a small indie team doing this, which unfortunately makes them naturally more susceptible to events like this happening because they don’t have the budget or manpower behind them.

Eden’s Garden has so many talent developers, artists, musicians, and voice actors behind it that aren’t the people who actually did stuff wrong and to say that all their hard work and passion should be thrown away because a few horrible people snuck their way in and did horrible things is insane. If project were shut down every time something like this happened nothing would get done. Industry juggernauts like Genshin Impact and Danganronpa itself would be gone. Indie media like The Amazing Digital Circus and Disventure Camp wouldn’t be changing how media gets made nowadays. To cancel the game’s development entirely would be way too extreme and an unnecessary reaction.

Despite everything, I’m excited to see the future of Project Eden’s Garden. The future plot, Mark’s new VA once he’s recast, and all that lies ahead because unfortunately when these things happen we just have to acknowledge it, punish those who did wrong, and continue on. Dwelling on it and seething in anger at everyone over it does nothing.

It’s impossible to talk about the current situation surrounding Project: Eden’s Garden without addressing the severity of what’s come to light, so just...be warned for some sensetive topics.

//For anyone who isn’t fully aware of what’s been happening, here’s the very short version.

//One of the game’s voice actors, Faza, the voice behind Mark Berskii, was exposed for having dated a 15-year-old while being 20 years old.

//That alone is deeply disturbing, but what makes the situation even worse is that it has come out that Sozzay, the project lead, was aware of this for quite some time and chose not to act. Action was only taken once the situation became public.

//And since this news broke, within what feels like mere hours, everything has begun to spiral. Longtime fans, passionate supporters, and community members who have followed this project for years are now walking away from it entirely. Some are calling for the project to be cancelled outright, feeling that what’s happened has irreparably tainted it.

//Let me be absolutely clear. I implore you to read the next paragraph VERY. VERY. CAREFULLY.

//NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, in this post is meant to defend what happened.

//What Faza did is ABHORRENT. There is NO justification, nor nuance that softens it. It is predatory, harmful, and indefensible.

//As for Sozzay, while her actions are different in nature, they are still deeply wrong. Knowing about something like this and choosing silence is not neutrality. It is complicity. Waiting until this recent exposure forces your hand is nothing more than damage control.

//And realistically, it’s very likely that most of the team had no idea any of this was happening. That’s exactly what investigations are meant to determine. Until that process plays out, assuming collective guilt is not only unfair, it's actively harmful to everyone involved/

//People have every right to be angry. They SHOULD be angry. And lengths should be taken to help and protect the people who were ACTUALLY victimised by this.

//But so much of this aggression is just blatantly misdirected! What I’m seeing in some corners of the community doesn’t feel like a pursuit of justice; it feels like opportunism. Like some people are using this situation as an excuse to tear down something they already disliked, rather than engaging with the issue in good faith.

the situation.

i woke up the morning of march 31st (today, as i write this post,) disturbingly greeted by the news. we all know what that news is.

faza, mark’s FORMER vo (which, can we stop saying mark’s vo? he isn’t his vo anymore. he’s a disgusting piece of shit.) had been accused of grooming a minor and even CONFESSED to doing so.

my heart dropped. i genuinely was so disgusted and felt like i was gonna throw up. i’ve been feeling this way ever since i read that. i am 100% nauseated by the actions of this GROWN, KNOWING MAN and i am deeply ashamed to have ever appreciated his work.

i immediately read the google doc—i don’t know if they have a tumblr, but my friend nova on discord, the owner of pjegcord, shared it to the members. i will be sharing it below. my heart shattered—the fact this BOY in a MAN’s skin had the nerve to do that to someone as young as 15. that’d absolutely sickening. what really got me sick, however, was sozzay.

sozzay. sozzay is project: eden’s garden’s creative lead if i recall properly. i don’t give two shits what their title is anymore. sozzay knew about the grooming and chose to protect faza’s reputation by stayint silent and by doing so, taking incredibly inappropriate action towards such a severe matter.

never, absolutely fucking NEVER should a situation of grooming, pdfilia, or any sort of child-adult relation be swept under the rug. this is revolting. it doesn’t matter if you ‘didn’t know how to handle the situation’. use your fucking brain. this was so upsetting to read.

sozzay swept this under the rug for 4 YEARS. 4 years. that’s sick. twisted. despicable.

i could go on and on about how this is just straight up shit and list out the timeline of events, but i’d like to address more my take on it because i feel everyone and their mother knows this story by now. if you wish to know more, again, the docs will be attached.

what i think about the situation (as a diehard p:eg fan.)

i’m nauseous. my stomach hurts, my body has been nonstop trembling the whole day. this really fucked me up. i’m so incredibly disgusted with faza (MAINLY), sozzay, and upset at the way the team is handling this.

there are some important things i’d like to dish out. please take the time to read them. or don’t. i won’t notice.

regarding project: eden’s garden (MAIN POINT)

my main point. this was the whole reason i wanted to write this, really.

with the current situation, i’ve seen a roaring uprise of fans saying, ‘this is bullshit! i hope they cancel the game now!’ or, ‘wow, i can’t believe eden’s garden has turned into the new tetro. i hope they cancel the game now.’

no. let me just say, NO. this wasn’t the fault of anyone else (as far as i’m aware) besides faza and sozzay. the team found out as quickly as we did. the voice actors found out as quickly as we did. one situation should not be the downfall of a wonderful game.

yes, they need better pr and hr. that is a strong point i agree with. they handled this situation so terribly, and it’s so frustrating. to fans who have seen the same poor moderation during february frenzy, we share the same annoyance and frustration.

however, much like how the project had been handed over to a new team, i believe that if it is necessary, it should go to another team instead of getting cancelled. to the fans saying ‘chapter two would have never come out anyways, just cancel it!’, you are the same people who criticized people who said the same thing before the conflict. do not start. this project can be fixed—and it is not reliant on one man’s grave mistake. so many fans—me included—find so much comfort in this project and really just wish it the best. personally, i’d be really upset and disappointed if the project got cancelled, because this project is so well written and done better than the actual danganronpa. it made me fall in love with fanganronpa and danganronpa. this project made me laugh, smile, cry, and want to punch a wall. it was so incredibly executed. do not use this controversy as a reason to hate on the team for their progress speed. it is incredibly hard to build a game. speaking as a director of one.

additionally, please STOP COMPARING IT TO TETRO. tetro should not even be in the conversation. the video series was ai slop, the creator is a demon on earth, and multiple people in the team were terrible people.

tetro was doomed from the start. project: eden’s garden should not be compared to that shit of a project. it was made with love, time, no funds, and patience. it was made with a dedicated team who cared about making the game good—not about a team who cared about raking in money like von’s project. it is not comparable in the long run. it was made so carefully, and is honestly disrespectful to equate it to an ai-generated series.

again, however, this is just my opinion. if you disagree, i really can’t do much about it. everyone is entitled to their own opinions. however, please do not go around slandering a game myself and so many others love and ESPECIALLY please do not slander the team or the voice actors. they are just as mortified as we are, if not more.

regarding faza.

please, again, as i have stated above. call him the FORMER vo. he does NOT deserve that title. if faza sees this—i hope you know there’s a special place in hell for you. you’re a disgusting THING that doesn’t deserve to take up air on earth.

regarding the victim.

my heart goes out to the victim, and i’m sending the biggest hug and support to them. nobody deserves this. i hope they are doing much better now and have gotten adequate support to deal with this. to anyone reading this: if you are in a situation similar to this, PLEASE get help. it is not too late to find support. you can break through the grip of someone as disgusting as faza. you are strong, you are loved, and your voice will be heard.

regarding the team.

first: FUCK YOU SOZZAY. this was shitty on your part. hiding it for so long—you KNEW what you were doing. don’t even try and debate me on that. everyone knows. everyone with a functioning cerebral cortex fucking knows that, sozzay.

second: the team…what the actual hell are we doing here? the same cowardly behaviour we had during february frenzy, when people were hurling death threats at eachother and racist comments at eachother. the cowardly ‘um, we’re sorry, we’ll just get better moderation and close the chats!’

the fuck is that? and to see how minimally you handled the grooming situation—really? kicking faza off the team is the bare minimum. do more. we are PISSED. you have betrayed the trust of so many fans, and this is why your project is in flames right now.
