i will never be over the fact that, for the whole of the ice court heist, wylan just sat and listened to the other crows bullying him about his upbringing, and not once did he correct them. not once did he tell them that his father tried to kill him, would beat him, force tonics and hypnosis on him. not once did he even try and defend himself. he just took it, even though he knew he could probably make them stop of he told them the truth. but he didn't

i think the reason wylan is the only crow willing to argue with kaz is because he hates cruel authority figures. his father has always ordered him around, and often with the threat of abuse or neglect.

think about it, both times he stood up to kaz, it was on the behalf of someone he felt needed protection.

wylan fights because no one fought for him, but now he has the opportunity to be that person

I will NEVER understand Bianca Di Angelo haters. She was twelve. TWELVE. Being the caregiver for her 10 year old brother 24/7, she was a CHILD like obviously she was going to make the decision to join the hunters she deserved that, and she made that dicsion thinking that Nico would be safe and cared for at camp. She couldn’t have known that she was going to die and leave her brother completely alone. She made the decision a child would make because she was a child. like guys. come on.

“Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” is too often (incorrectly) used as a cover-all tag, on fics ranging from Vaguely Uncomfortable to Serious Shit, as a replacement for any intense tags relating to the story. People will use it to say “Holy shit guys some INTENSE SHIT happens in this story” without actually saying what that Intense Shit™ is.

In actuality, the “Dead Dove” tag is meant to be used in addition to other warning tags. Pulled from a scene from the show Arrested Development (look it up on YouTube!), it means “Hi! Hey! I labeled this fic to warn you of what’s in it, so you might REALLY want to read those labels! This fic is exactly what it says on the tin! The tags are accurate! Don’t say I didn’t warn you, because this is me warning you! Read the tags!”

So before you accidentally use the “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” tag without context, here’s your preemptive lesson for next time. Please tag your fics accordingly! Ta!

I KNOW Leigh herself depeicts Wylan as naive and in some ways I see it. But I think it’s weird to pretend he wouldn’t understand the Barrel at its core.

He would have internalized the fact that nothing comes for free before coming to the barrel. Been accustomed to violence and cruelty.

There’s a line in Crooked Kingdom where Kaz says he needs Wylan to realize how awful his dad is and like… that’s ironic coming from the boy who bet that Jan would care about Wylan and LOST.

So yes the whole “whose mark” is funny but I think the idea that Wylan is just naive to the world is just not true.

I do think he is portrayed as such because that’s how the other Crows view him but it doesn’t make it reality. We don’t get nearly enough chapters from his pov but that’s its own topic.
