I know I haven't been online lately, but I have a shit ton of replies to get to and it's really intimidating me every time I look at it. I don't want to just make new threads and let those die, but seeing so many replies I owe makes me want to run. I'll be replying to a couple of them each day and saving them in my drafts so I can publish them all at once, and maybe I won't be so panicked by it. So they'll be up in a few days, hopefully.
I still owe a couple replies, but I gotta go. Be back later to get to them. Like if you're not tagged below and I owe you.

Piers followed her, looking around the building as she spoke. “What do you want with my DNA? Answer me and I might cooperate with this whole thing.” He felt like this was going to be another Jake incident. Was he about to vanish for months with no explanation. The difference between him and what happened with Jake and Sherry was that few people knew he was alive. No one would miss him.
The coquette was immaculate in keeping him wondering. Keeping people wondering—left out to take stabs at the dark and decipher all kinds of tangents as they saw fit out of sheer frustration. Ada could rake up a bit of enjoyment from it all.
“There will be a time for that. Chopper will be sending for us in a few hours, so don’t get too comfortable.”
Piers grit his teeth in anger. She was just toying with him now. He might have hurt her if his life wasn't in the balance. Hurting her would likely mean that she wouldn't help him, and he'd surely die. "Where's the bathroom?" he asked, deciding to let it go. No point in arguing about it now.

“Well..” She tilted her head for a moment, humming in thought, “The’we’s always the zoo. It’s fun enough. ” She smiled at him and held out her hand to help him up, “Or the goin’ to get a steak..I could use one ‘bout now. Or coffee.. Don’t actually know how to plan things out. Jus’ so’wta walk till it happens.”
Piers hesitated for a moment before taking her hand and standing. He immediately dropped his hand once he was on his feet, tucking his hands into his pockets. “Lead the way…”
“Yaw gonna have to get off that edge yaw on.. Not like.. Automatically, but eventually, hm?” She smiled at him, starting to walk, “Nothin ya do, o’ have o’ can do is gonna s’ahp’wise me, sweetcheeks.” She leaned her head back, looking at the sky for a moment. Evelyn couldn’t help it, the curiosity was going to bother her more and more.
Piers followed after her silently. It wasn’t like he couldn’t control his power. He could. And he chose to never use it because of how much it hurt to do so. But he still had the virus in him and most people weren’t fond of that little detail.
Evelyn slid her hands into her pockets, and let out a yawn. “Why’d ya come to New Yo’wk?” She looked to him as they walked. She liked silence, but only when she was thinking too much. Or she needed it. But in the presence of company it was better to not be silent.
“I..have an apartment here. It just…seemed like the most logical place to go. I’ve considered moving a couple times though. Not entirely sure New York is for me.”
“New Yo’wks fo’ eve’ybody. Just gotta find a place ya fit in most wit’. Believe me on that. This place has always been full of odd cha’wacters, always will be.”
"Not for people who aren't a fan of crowds," he said. "I prefer solitude. New York's not really good for that..."
He shook his head. He wasn’t going after Chris. He had to let this one slide. “No…not really anything going on…”
“Well, that’s a shame. Though it makes me feel better that you’re not busy.”
“I’m not busy a lot… When I’m not doing jobs, helping people out..”
“And then you just… wander around? Not that I’m bashing that or anything, I’d love to have free time like that.”
"Basically yeah... I wander to see if I can find a new job, or find something to do."

Piers ducked his head when Jill turned around, hiding his face from view. She didn’t know him, right? She didn’t know him. She wouldn’t recognize him. He was just another person in this crowd. He had to believe that. He couldn’t have anyone from his old life know he was alive.
Hunching his shoulders, he took a turn into an alleyway to get away. He realized, too late, that that was probably more suspicious than just staying with the crowd. She turned around for a reason, and seeing someone duck out of the crowd would immediately set her off. He cursed under his breath and hoped she didn’t follow him.
Almost immediately she noticed the male turning sharply, almost unnaturally as though he was suddenly trying to get away from something. That was much too suspicious to be ignored.
Quickly moving against the crowd, she slipped in between people as they grumbled their disdain. Paying no attention to them, she peeked her head around the corner, staring into the dark alleyway. Her gaze immediately zeroed in on the male she saw earlier who was moving much faster than before “Hey you! Wait up!” she knew she was going to lose him unless she caught him then and there. Moving into the alleyway she began to jog toward the male to close the distance though he kept moving. “Hey!”
Hearing her call for him made him pick up his speed, running down the alleyway and turning into an adjacent alleyway in hopes of ditching her. He had no idea if she knew who he was and if she reported to the BSAA that he was alive... He didn't want to take any risks.

Piers watched the snow, tilting his head back against the tree.
He glanced over at him before forming a snowball and tossing it at the other.
Piers flinched when the snowball hit him. He wiped it off and looked at him. "What was that for?"
Piers looked around, hands tucked into his pockets. When he heard the kid’s voice, he glanced down, looking at the kid who’d spoken. Hiccup? That’s a strange name. “Piers..” he said, studying the kid.
He smiled a bit awkwardly, giving him an odd look ” Piers? Just piers? Wow…what a strange name.” He laughed
"It's...Piers Nivans," he said. Funny that Hiccup thought his name was strange when Piers thought the same of Hiccup's name.
Shell of comfort, broken
Piers sometimes regretted buying an apartment in New York. There were too many people. It was sometimes hard to avoid people in New York, and he often ended up in conversations or situations that he didn’t want to be in.
Like now.
He didn’t know how he’d managed to be ushered into the building. He had tried to get out of the crowd of people all filing into it, but to no avail. And now he couldn’t get past the group of people blocking the door. He’d resigned himself to sitting by the open bar, keeping his eyes down on his glass to make sure no one got eye contact.
It was some sort of party, for an energy company he wasn’t overly familiar with. It had a big name, but he could never remember it, despite how simple the name was. The voices of those around him seemed to get steadily louder, though he was sure he was just imagining it. He grit his teeth against the noise, glancing over at the door to see if the crowd had cleared yet.
Even when he was hosting a party, it just never seemed complete without something to stir it up. However, he’d promised Pepper to behave at public functions, and Loki was busy and couldn’t come to help him by livening things up with his usual trickery, so he was left to endure the boring event while everyone else seemed perfectly happy to stand around and chatter over expensive drinks and delicious food. Tony couldn’t think of a single name to go with a single face that he actually wanted to converse with.
As usual, that meant he ended up at the bar. He rested an elbow on the counter and called for a scotch, glancing around again. He noted his other fellow bar lurker and, as he received his drink, he decided that this was someone he might actually get along with. “If you’re planning a quick escape, don’t bother,” he said, following the other’s gaze to the door. “They won’t clear out for hours yet.”
He took a swallow of his scotch. “So, you’re not allowed to look more anxious to leave than I am. Who dragged you in here?” Nothing could be worse than an angry Pepper. Except maybe an upset Loki.
Piers glanced at the one who spoke, frowning at his words as he glanced back at the door again. “Figures…” He hated crowds. He definitely wasn’t a people person anymore. When the man continued, he glanced back at him. Who was this guy? He pointed over his shoulder at the crowd. “They did. I was just trying to get home and I guess they thought I was one of them and grabbed me,” he said.
Not allowed to be more anxious to leave? Was this some guy who just hated the company or… Piers felt like he was missing something really obvious. And he liked knowing what was going on. He was always on the ball with things. What was he missing?
Tony grinned. “Oh, man. So you’re not even on the unlucky invite list? People dream of being you. And of course the one it happens to couldn’t wait to get out of here.” It was too ironic to not be funny. Then again, sometimes it seemed like the world at large was one big ironic joke, so maybe it shouldn’t be too unexpected after all.
He took a swallow of his scotch and adjusted to lean more comfortably again. “So, you got a name?” He extended a hand. “Tony Stark. I’m the so-called host of this little get together.”
That was it! That was what he was missing! It was Stark. Stark Industries was the energy company. It was such a simple name. How could he forget it? He hesitantly took the man's hand, shaking it. So this was Tony Stark. This was the guy who owned the company. A couple months ago, he might have brushed it off like it was no big deal, meeting someone so famous. But now was entirely different. The closest term to it might be starstruck. "I'm Piers," he said. He almost apologized for wanting to bail, but Tony didn't seem to want to be here any more than him.
