Holy sh... Are you OK? Do you need to talk? I’d offer a hug, but you might be touch averse. You win, friend. @psymeds
Comprehensive list of Umbrella Academy alignment charts from a certified, real life, Oldest of Seven sibling:
Finally, some debate! I’ve been itching for a reason to explain some of my choices, so please forgive this if you really don’t care that much. LOL
@victorialuder I get why you’d think that, but no. To me, Klaus has classic “Rebel Trash 2nd Son” vibes. Especially when you consider “Golden Boy First Born” Luther is the oldest. Especially, especially when you consider “Marcia Brady Ass” Allison comes between them. Even his interactions with his siblings say that to me. Yes, all the Hargreeves kids take care of Klaus like you might expect dealing with a younger sib, but it’s more of a “Ugh, why are you so useless?! You’re supposed to know better!” kind of way. They don’t really baby him. The only one who does that (and the only one who would) is Allison- his older sister. If TUA were real, and all the kids weren’t born at the same time, I imagine Luther, Allison and Klaus to have been born back to back, and then there would be a little bit of a gap between Klaus and Five. So Klaus would have had the experience of being the “baby” for a while before the other kids were born, so that’s also where some of that immature vibe comes from. But he also has this deeper wisdom about him that suggests that he’s higher up in the birth order. He’s also the most charismatic. Don’t ask me why, but in families of more than four, the third child almost always, ALWAYS, the most charismatic.
@wildestmothers Nice! Somebody else from a big family. Then I’ll think you’ll get why I say Diego is the youngest once I explain. First, I’m glad you picked up on those murderous rage vibes coming from Five. I have to laugh whenever I see posts that suggest Five is the oldest in any way because even as a 58 year old man, he is the most accurate depiction of The Middle Child I’ve ever seen. Now I get why you peg Diego as having that same sort of Middle Child Rage, because he’s definitely very angry. But Diego doesn’t fly into murderous fits of rage like Five, he has temper tantrums, like a baby brother would. His anger is less “How the fuck did I end up in this family?! One day you’ll push me too far, and then you’ll be sorry!”, and more “What do I have to do to measure up and get some goddamn attention and respect over here?! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!!” Plus pretty much all of his sibling relationships boil down to “Whatever. I don’t care. I don’t need you anyway! Fight me.”, until one of them is in trouble or being attacked and then it’s “If anything happens to ___, I will kill everyone in this room and then myself.” Classic baby bro stuff. Also, he’s the world’s biggest Mamas Boy. And if you know anything about large families, you know the youngest son is ALWAYS the mother’s favorite.
The person who has that real “I will KILL YOU” vibe? Fellow Middle Child Vanya. Hers is easy to miss because she’s a girl, so like in most families she had to suppress her anger, because patriarchy. But that rage is still there, and just builds and builds until it LITERALLY. EXPLODES. Lest we forget, Vanya is the only who actually slit the throat of another sibling. And everyone knows the most likely sibling combination to lead to actual murder is Outcast Middle Sister vs Perfect Princess Oldest Sister. That’s also why Five and Vanya are the closest sibling bond. Middle Children Stick Together is the only thing more guaranteed than death and taxes.
However, your addition to Five’s sibling dynamic chart is accurate, extremely valid, and makes me upset I didn’t think of it first.
@victorialuder Oh, I agree. That’s why Five is an older sibling, he’s just not the oldest. Like I said, I imagine there to be a gap between Klaus and Five, so there would have been a time where Five was the oldest in the house after the first three left. That’s where he gets all that Older Sibling Attitude from. But he also has some younger sibling tendencies and definite Middle Child Behaviors. If you have any doubt about Five’s true place in the pecking order look no further than this gif of him and actual oldest child Luther:
@wildestmothers @victorialuder
Extremely valid points all around here! I’ll address everything at the same time, cause they kind of all tie-in together. First, this is how I view the age gaps if TUA were born at different times:
I will admit I went back and forth with the order of Ben and Vanya a couple of times, but what sealed the deal for me was the dynamics between Five and Vanya, and Diego and Ben. I’m glad we all agree that there is no love stronger between ANY of the siblings than the love Five has for Vanya. To me, it’s that kind of doting older brother bond (like between Luther and Allison), but with the added intensity of Love Forged in the Fires of Middle Child Hell. Vanya is ignored, but not in that “you’re too young, so you can’t play with us” kind of way. But in that “you’re freaking weird, get lost!” kind of way. I think if she were the true baby, they would have been kinder to her just out of an instinctive need to protect the youngest. She’s definitely one of the younger ones (everyone is constantly in her business, and feels the need to look out for her), but you never really get that baby vibe from Vanya- not in the same way you get it from Ben and Diego or even Klaus. Luther in particular treats Vanya like a younger sister, but not the way an oldest boy would treat his baby sister. The only time we see anyone having that sort of “uwu” attitude towards Vanya is with Five.
This is because Five would have always had that older energy. He could never be the true “baby” because Klaus was sucking up all that energy already. But he also couldn’t be The Oldest cause Allison and Luther would just be like, “Sure. Sure. Respect your authority. LOL He’s so cute.” But then Vanya comes along, and he can finally release that “I’m the Daddy!” energy on a receptive target. And she would have ate it up too, because she would be feeling the void from her parents who are too preoccupied with her oldest siblings, and from her oldest siblings who are too preoccupied with themselves and each other. I imagine Five and Vanya to be the most ostracized members of the family- Vanya because she’s different, Five because he’s insufferable- so they would have clung to each other harder because of it. Five’s next closest relationship? The only other person who would have been kind of receptive to that energy- his younger brother Ben. But everybody likes Ben, so he wouldn’t “belong” to Five in the same way Vanya would. He tried that shit with youngest brother Diego, but baby boy bucks against ALL authority so that was a no go. In the end, it’s just Vanya and Five against the world. Until Five is gone, and then it’s just Vanya, left all alone to build up years of the kind of bitterness and resentment that comes with being a Middle Child still yearning to belong. Her being 5’3” and a girl in a family of mostly boys? That’s what gets you explosions that blow up federal buildings. Add Unresolved Middle Child Feels to that combo? That’s where you get the kind of rage that takes out the f*cking moon and brings about the Apocalypse.
(She's also WLW, and plays the violin. You show me an orchestra that isn't at least 50% Middle Kids, and I'll show you a lie, and we'll both be pointing at the same thing.)
Ben is WAY too chill to be the youngest in a family like the Hargreeves. Another family? Maybe. But not this lovable dumpster fire. The only way he’d come out that pure would be if he was the parentally-ignored, quiet, second-youngest sibling. That means he comes after Golden First Borns Luther and Allison (less pressure to be The Best, they've got that covered), after Absolute Disaster Klaus (no need to rebel, you can't beat that hot mess), and after Emotional Powder Keg Middle Kids Five and Vanya (no need to feel like an overlooked outsider.) But he'd have to come BEFORE Tiny Rage Machine Baby Brother Diego (no need to constantly prove you can keep up). His parents’ attention wouldn’t be on him which, with a father like Reggie, would be the best thing for him. He could slip by mostly unnoticed, read his books, play peace keeper and just be Ben. However unlike Social Outcast Middle Child Vanya (who would have been similarly ignored) he was generally well liked by his siblings so he didn’t feel the same void she did, which is why he isn't nearly as angry. He and Diego seem to like each other most which would make sense with the birth order. Diego is closest to Ben because he was still there after the oldest 3 were gone. BUT he likes Ben best because Ben never really tried to act older than him. Unlike Five (naturally) and Vanya, who would have to once she became the designated babysitter by virtue of being the only other girl, and the oldest of the youngest. The first thing Diego asks Ben to prove himself? “Hey remember that time we teamed up, and pwned the older sibs? That was awesome right?! Hug me brother!” And the fact that it was Ben’s idea is the kind of ingenuity you only get from the second-youngest. Plus, look at their faces here. This isn’t just “I missed you”. This is “I missed you most.”
Compare this with the other significant interactions we see with Ben- Vanya and Klaus. Ben and Vanya clearly have a bond closer than she has with anyone other than Five. I interpreted their scene as "younger bro is scared, but still wants to be there and strong for slightly older sister". But it could also be "slightly older brother wants to be there for baby sister, but still needs a hug, because he's not THAT big and he's scared too."
They really could go either way. I just think Vanya and Five are too close for Ben to be between them, and the rest of the family don't coddle Vanya enough for her to be any younger than third. The closeness Ben shares with Diego, Vanya and Five comes across even clearer when you think about his relationship with Klaus. Ben and Klaus spend the most time together, but they still don't seem close. Not the way Ben is with the other three, and not the way Klaus is with Allison. Even when Klause finds out Ben is gone for good, he doesn't break down the way someone would with their closest brother. Ben's last message to Klaus isn't one of comforting love like with Vanya, it's simply "don't feel bad about that dick thing you thought you did to me. I was just scared, so I hung around for a while. Peace." And Klaus' response is LITERALLY just, "huh. That little shit".
Ben's a bit of a know-it-all (also second-youngest things), and he’s kind of shy. Comes from years of not really being heard in the first place, and being ok with that because you want no parts of the chaos anyway. If he were the true youngest, he’d feel the constant need to make himself heard like Diego. Any older, and he would have Middle Child Moodiness like Five and Vanya. (You see how easy it was for him to become an emo asshole in the Sparrow AU 👀). Nope, sweet, sweet Ben is in that sweet, sweet 6th spot.
Which would leave Diego as the youngest. I see Diego’s “WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE?” vibe as more of a “Shut up, 'MOM'! Get out of my room! You don’t even go here anymore!!!” Because he has that energy with Allison too.
But with Allison it’s more of that “Poke the Bear” antagonistic little shit energy common of Youngest Brother / Oldest Sister relationships. With Vanya it’s more of the “I’m mad at you, so I’m not speaking to you and you can’t touch any of my things!” Until of course, Vanya’s all “Awww…. Diego, baby. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you. Come here. I love you.” Then it’s INSTANT “Hmph….. I love you too. Hold me.” Baby brother all day.
Also, for all the crap he gives her, Diego clearly prefers Vanya to Allison, and I see that as being because she was who he spent the most time with so he’d be closer to her. I see his protective energy as less older sibling, “These are my babies, so I have a duty to protect and shield them from harm;” and more of a younger sibling “NO! You can’t hurt them! They’re MINE!!!” Baby brothers are always with the shits. They don’t care who, what, when, where or why. Somebody’s hurting you? They will run head first into a fight with no plan, half-cocked, and fiesty AF. Diego, Diego, Diego. Also, when the subject of shutting down Grace came up, Ben insinuated that he would agree with Luther and Allison. No youngest son would ever even THINK about doing something that meant not having their mommy. And true to form, baby Diego shut that shit right down.
I could go on, but this is already long enough. Thanks for your thoughts!

The next time Netflix tries to cancel a series with strong diversity because "not enough people watched it", we fucking riot.
A FAMILY.
Rosa CLEARLY being Holt's favorite is my new favorite recurring joke on B99.
Never before have I understood the term "bittersweet", the way I did watching The Good Place series finale. There were so many times I was on the verge of tears, but I didn't actually cry because everything was so beautiful and sweet and GOOD.
With so many disappointing endings recently, it's nice to know my favorite show didn't let me down for a second. "Enough time with the people you love", indeed. That's what this show has been. A good story, told through beloved characters, over just enough time to end it right without feeling like we didn't get enough of it.
Cheers to The Good Place. You made me feel better about being human, and made me more hopeful for what comes after it. I pray the afterlife is what you made it.

lesbian romcoms Hallmark should hire me to make
most lesbian movies are pretty much Dark n’Gritty art house films, I would like to change that through the power of cheesy Hallmark movies
1. Head Over Heels: a sports movie about two rival gymnasts who accidentally both sign up to teach at the same summer camp. During capture the flag games, late-night swims, and acrobat “TO THE DEATH” battles the two girls accidentally fall, you guessed it, Head Over Heels for each other. *cheesy applause*
2. Giving Up the Ghost: a supernatural romantic comedy about a woman who is haunted by a strange spirit and a ghost hunter who WANTS to be haunted by the spirit. Unfortunately, Abigail is the chosen target and all Claire can do is follow her around and try to transfer over the haunting. Along the way they realize that it’s not the ghost that’s pushing them together, but something more.
3. Dashing Through the Snow: what is a Hallmark list without a Christmas movie? A business woman With Something Missing in Her Life is driving home Christmas Eve to spend time with her small-town family when she impulsively picks up a free-spirited hitch-hiker who just wants to get away. They get lost, they get snowed-in, and they find each other on the way to dinner.
Contact me Hallmark, this is a lucrative market I’m telling you.
Such an untapped market. <3_<3
I would happily watch every single one of these movies and would love to hear more Wholesome Lesbian Rom Com ideas :D
A Knight to Remember: visiting Aunt takes her nibblings to the Renaissance Fair, falls for badass Lady Knight with sudden feels, they spend the day together as it’s the last day the Fair is in that town (SURPRISE, twist ending, the next town they’re in turns out to be where Aunt lives)
Inside the Lines: art dorks fall for each other. Inevitable nude drawing misunderstanding. One of them has/is a Surprise Gallery Owner/Secretly Rich Aunt who saves the financial day
Second Hand: one works in a antique store and was just recently dumped. One likes modern aesthetics and doesn’t see the appeal of older, reclaimed objects. GUESS WHO WAS JUST HIRED AS AN INTERIOR DESIGNER
Murder, She Fibbed: a Gay Disaster spur of the moment invites a police detective to a murder mystery dinner, keeps changing the scenario to more ludicrous proportions when she thinks Detective is getting bored to make her stay. But something else is afoot during dinner
Oh my gosh literally every single one of these are Everything I Want :D
If I ever win the lottery I’m starting a production company and I’m making every single one a reality :D
And They Were Roommates!: The Banks and Baker families have been enemies for generations. Olivia Banks and Remy Baker have hated each other since childhood. So what happens when a housing error pairs them up as roommates? Away from the pressures of their families, they find they have a lot in common, and that tension was just desire in disguise. Will they be brave enough to act on their feelings and what will their families say?
It Was Always You: Teresa Gaines is the definition of BOSS BITCH, emphasis on the latter. Samantha Walton has been her hapless assistant for years. She runs Sam ragged, with hardly ever a kind word. Sam hates her boss, even if she does find her a bit attractive. When Valerie, Teresa's best friend and first love, announces she's getting married Teresa is floored. In order to make Valerie jealous and win her back, Teresa makes Sam pretend to be her date to the wedding in exchange for a promotion. Will her plan work, or will "pretending" with Sam get them both to see what's been in front of them all along?
Slay Bells: Drew Howard is the non-binary director of a LGBT+ youth center downtown. Brooke Porter is the ice-cold rep of a heartless development firm that wants to tear the center down. Drew and the kids put on a Queer Christmas Concert to raise money to keep the center open. Brooke is sent in to sabatoge their plans. But the more time she spends at the center the more she falls in love- with the work, the kids, and Drew... (Yes. This is a musical.)
No but for real...
Why do people keep attending Lena Luthor speaking engagements? Like, it literally never goes well.
