okay I'm back again with this
my behemoth hollanov playlist in meticulous chronological order. imagine like if every episode was 2-3 hours long and largely narrated by queer women, and/or songs that I think one or both of them would relate to at the time. I included songs from the show to act as narrative landmarks, so hopefully it should be relatively easy to follow, but more details under the cut if u care
okay full table of contents:
ep 1: I feel free - vines
first hookup: sealion
ep 2: mangetout - hard
russia pt 1: chelsea mon amour
vegas: dispose of me
ep 3: lips (sorry skip the playlist is already 10 hours)
ep 4: my moon my man - why is she still here?
tuna melts: do I wanna know?
rose: en dedans
The Club™: ~into you
ep 5: prendre soin du beau
florida: .... hopefully this one is self evident
russia pt 2: matilda
shane gets his shit rocked: cpr
ep 6: l'anarchie des jours heureux
now some additional notes:
this was really done for my own entertainment, so keep that in mind. I (continue to) determine and adjust the song order mostly based on lyrics, but I've also tried to make the songs flow into each other sonically so hopefully the listening experience makes sense.
I have had a really good time trying to find songs for every emotional beat and ordering them in a way that I think follows their emotional journey - I'm also still working on this playlist every time I listen to it, so if you have any songs or opinions about the flow/song order I would loveeee to talk about it.
if anyone knows a good way to export a playlist off spotify so people can listen to it on other streamers, please help a girl out!! I'll upload that link if anyone wants it.
TS haters - sorry, she just loves to write a song about a forbidden romance and hiding from the public. there are like 5 ts songs total and they're pretty top loaded, so just trust me
one more thing, kind of a complete tangent so I apologize. last time I posted this playlist I got a comment about how I shouldn't've included certain artists due to their ties to zionism and because I suffer from ✨moral scrupulosity✨ and am deeply uncomfortable feeling misunderstood, I do want to clarify this a little.
1. absolutely fuck zionism no matter what and free palestine. first and foremost.
2. I do my very best to avoid giving support to artists who are outspoken in supporting things I think are harmful. however! I don't find it the best use of my personal time or capacity for support to trace down the full social history or implied belief of every artist I come across. for example, one of the examples the person gave was that I shouldn't be supporting chappell roan because she was seen spending time with hayley kiyoko at a party at some point and apparently hayley is openly zionist (hayley is not on this playlist and frankly I don't know enough about her to have ever known this). now, chappell has spoken out about supporting palestine and palestinian causes. to me it's not super productive to boycott someone who is putting their name to good use because they socialized with someone they obviously disagree with at a party. but that's just my line for myself! there are other artists on this playlist who have been completely silent on the issue, which again I don't think is right and is pretty cowardly! but for my own personal sanity I've had to allow myself to allow for some grey areas and focus on speaking up myself or encouraging those artists to speak up. I wouldn't spend money on tour tickets or merch or whatever else without being more confident with where my money was going, but if I allowed myself to engage in moral background checks on every artist, I would simply never be able to listen to music again. if that is not how you are operating for yourself, that's totally fine! that's great! I respect you for that and drawing your own boundaries is completely your prerogative.
point being, I do my best to exclude artists doing active harm (and if anyone has made the list who would fall under that category, please feel free to let me know), but hopefully we can understand that there are better places to apply our energy in support of palestine (and other important issues) than in policing every interaction someone has ever had.
apologies again for the major vibe shift at the end of my yaoi post but I felt the need to speak on it! please enjoy this playlist! it's been absorbing every second of my free time for weeks! also, first draft TLG playlist is already in the works so hit me with those recs too. I have a feeling that one will be a lot more difficult 🥴🥴
