Expanding upon my “Garte has Zane’s other eye in a jar in his study” thought UwU

Garte took the eye as a punishment.

It isn’t the only eye in the jar, it’s one of several. Garte doesn’t care to remember which one is Zane’s. It’s not like he can tell anyways, he keeps it on a high shelf but not on the top shelf. It’s near left corner, just off of directly being in the corner. The top of the jar is a little dusty, the glass has stained over the years and the preservative salutation has turned more grey then its original pale green.

But Zane knows. Zane knows which one belongs to her. She feels it staring down at her on the very rare occasion Garte summons her to his study. It drives her crazy. She doesn’t notice the cobweb that clings to one side or the books that lean over it and almost obscure it from vision. She just sees her own eye glaring back.

Garte took the eye as a punishment, he doesn’t remember the lesson he was trying to teach or the reason Zane somehow deserved it. He’s the one giving out the punishment, he doesn’t have to remember and it’s her job to remember it so she never repeats that mistake again.
