You know I find it weird that a lot of trans subreddits go “nooo you can’t post about DIY T , it’s against Reddit TOS!!” As if there aren’t multiple subreddits about how to get/make hard drugs they don’t really enforce that rule that much. If r/meth can exist then I’m sure that DIY T posting is fine.

There is a DIY T subreddit that exists with a little over 2000 members, that is now locked because of trouble finding mods and the existing mods being stressed from having to deal with all that work. Reddit doesn’t care. Multiple DIY T subreddits have existed in the past that got shut down not due to Reddit TOS but internal trouble with drama or finding mods.

Reddit doesn’t care. There is no actual reason to ban DIY T on the main TransDIY subreddit other than just enforcing the status quo.

Point of this post is “people think laws define what’s good/bad” and “because of that people will suggest trans men detransition and kill themselves before they suggest doing something illegal.” Btw

You know I’m not a fan of how people saw this post , saw the one part criticizing r/ftm, and are now acting like it’s only a problem on r/ftm instead of a community wide issue. Because discussions about DIY T are banned on all of the major trans subreddits, including r/transDIY. It’s also an issue that is everywhere, not just Reddit. I’ve encountered people on tumblr, instagram, facebook, and in real life who pearl clutch over the mention of DIY T.

This also the idea that laws define morality isn’t a thing that only impacts the attitude towards DIY T. It impacts how people treat drug addicts, sex workers, poor people who have to steal to survive. And if you look at stats Trans people have a really high chance of being drug addicts, sex workers, and poor.

So maybe instead of pushing this off as just a ‘Reddit trans man issue’ and something that you a pure tumblr trans person never do, you do some self reflecting on how the trans community as a whole treats people who are forced into a corner of having to do illegal stuff to survive.

look I've harped on this before but I think it's worth doing again. if you put "cis men dni" you are forcing trans men to out themselves to interact with you and that's shitty. you're also making eggs and closeted transfems feel worse about themselves and making the distance between womanhood/femininity and themselves feel that much wider and unassailable. (source: me) you're ALSO making recently out/early stages of transition/just very insecure trans women feel like shit, and probably desperately consider what the difference is between themselves and men, and they likely won't interact with you either. (source: me again) also yk what I get it kind of if ur making sapphic posts or whatever but sometimes it just isn't necessary. sometimes it genuinely is just shitty to cis men too and it promotes a weird ass culture of bioessentialism. just. you're showing a message. and it's maybe not the one you think you are, or the one you want.
