Like this "mentally ill people just need to get help" narrative is just too reductive. Not everyone has access to the help they need. Not all mental health issues can be effectively treated. Not all "help" that is offered is genuinely helpful. There is simply no "just getting help"

I have had to explain to health and mental health professionals that "getting help" does not actually fix the problem right away, and the process can take years to get the results they re telling you to just get help" to achieve.

Like, I have been "getting help" for my PTSD for a decade. I've only JUST gotten to the point where I can actually talk about the traumatic events.
