Hello people,
I hope its OK to share this here.
I want to become an audio book reader and I wanted to write an initiative application to my favourite audio book producer.
I wanted to send them some material so I sat down yesterday and read my longest fic, cut and uploaded it, which was around 8 ish hrs (in German).
Today I woke up and felt the flow, so I sat down again and tried my first one in English.
Im native German so I hope its not too bad but I'm so excited right now, I want to share it with someone.
I'd be happy about honest feedback :)

I hate those posts that act like a fanfic is good just because it has the wordcount of some well-known novel
Wordcount is one of the absolute worst criteria to measure a fanfic on. It means absolutely nothing. The majority of long fanfics are long because the writers don’t know how to or don’t want to edit properly. Sure a fanfic might be as long as The Grapes of Wrath, but it’s very probably not saying anywhere near as much within that length. The glorification of wordcount just encourages writers to say as little as possible with the greatest amount of words, and that’s not as impressive as people try to make it. Anyone, given enough time, can write half a million words about anything. Making every single one of those words necessary and meaningful? That is much more difficult and a skill fanfic writers are almost discouraged from developing in favour of racking up a large enough wordcount to get people to click on their story
See, Leo just improved my post using only one sentence
This is one of my favourite reviews I've ever gotten. I usually tend to think my fics are way to short. And there is people out that that "read nothing under 5k it's not worth it!"
But this review reminds me what they are missing out :)
It's not the best but I am somewhat satisfied

There’s someone on Reddit who has since 2016 downloading every fanfic that’s been posted to FFN and giving out fics that have been deleted if someone says they’re looking for them
And I have never deleted a fic but I still feel sorta disrespected by that because FFN asked the Wayback Machine not to archive the site and here’s some random who’s like ‘fuck what these people want’ and doesn’t see a problem with it
It is indeed disrespectful! I don't like the fact you can download on ao3 to read offline. Download is download- no matter for what...
