The mitochondria being the powerhouse of the cell is a fact which is often discussed on the internet. The Golgi apparatus, however, being the post office of the cell, has not gotten nearly as much recognition. This is in line with the years-long underfunding of the postal service, which provides a deeply important service to society yet does not get the recognition it deserves. In this essay I will

there’s a post on tumblr about like. if you could do something to bring people a little relief, why wouldn’t you do it? which has unironically informed my practice as a nursing student and patient care tech
i’m glad no one made any unpleasant comments on this post that might distract from the message because that would really suck
I think libraries are hindered in their ability to reach a wider audience by....themselves. Libraries' social media team can't sit you down and say, hey, look at me. We don't keep your data. You fill out an application and that information goes in our database and it's only ever accessed when you lose a book or something and we have to send you a notice. That information does not leave our database. There's no third parties or cookies or analytics. It's just your name and your contact info in the digital equivalent of a filing cabinet. Your data and your privacy is your own.
But I can. I can say that.
Also we don't keep records of who checked what out. Which most people are saddened by because they can't find that one book they checked out two years ago. But this also means cops can't access records of who checked out what items, and your academic interest in a subject has now put you on a watchlist. That doesn't happen at the library.
Obligatory your mileage may vary based on what systems your library uses. But as a general rule, information is highly protected.
In a day and age where everyone and their mother is keeping your information whether it is to sell you a specific lotion based off a throwaway comment you made to your friend, or if it is to track how much of an enemy to the government you might be because you are interested in things like civil rights, sexual and gender identity, etc - libraries are here to say, your information isn't ours to keep. And I think that should be shouted from every fucking mountain top (coming from a person who sits in various vendor meetings, asking a. How is the information encrypted, and b. We don't keep that info so much that everyone can predict what I'm gonna say before I say it).

one of my absolute favorite things that we need to talk about more is the absolutely fed up look on louis' face s2ep8 when he tells lestat he's going to be with armand.
that man did not want to be with armand and was hoping lestat would throw one of his typical fits, and when he didn't, louis (also insane) realized that, fuck, well now he's gotta commit to the bit.

Is this supposed to reminiscent of Mr. And Mrs. Smith? And instead of the revival of a marriage this is showing the demise of one.
this tweet has been on my mind for several days because god they’re so right
"Listen as though I'm the voice of God or an angel talking to you. Telling you this room doesn't matter, this night doesn't matter. You're not inconsequential or a junkie. You're a bright young reporter with a point of view. There are stories that need to be told. If things ever get bad again, these are the words you'll hear in your mind like a tape playing over and over, like a song stuck in your brain. These words will hold you up and carry you. "They are your lifeline." That's a free-baser I befriended for a few days at the drսg den. He told me to get my shit together and then he Richard Pryor'd in front of me. Everyone scrambled but I stuck around, watched him burn. What's always confused me was that... You know, he said those words to me, and he was already all burnt up. Figured I'd conflated the two events. But I didn't. Because it was you. I destroyed two marriages. I fuckеd up two daughters. But I stayed a journalist. I... I was never so lost I couldn't hold down a job.

So the Umbrella Academy series finale is the same as the DARK series finale except not as well done. I still liked it, but I really wanted a happy ending for them.
I have a lot to say about Jeannie Epper. Most of all, I loved her. I always felt that we understood and appreciated one another.
After all, it was the 70s. We were united in the way that women had to be in order to thrive in a man’s world, through mutual respect, intellect and collaboration.
Jeannie was a vanguard who paved the way for all other stuntwomen who came after. Just as Diana was Wonder Woman, Jeannie Epper was also a Wonder Woman.
She is so beautiful to me. Jeannie, I will miss you.
