Lady Aranessa Royce
What'd you need from me? Someone to tear apart?

based on recent revelations…
One of the things I love about Julien and Thimble as parallels (that making this vid helped me understand better) is that they are both bound by honor, duty and promise to House Royce.
In the same way that Royce had a promise from the land of Faerie to protect them, they have the House of Davinos to guard them on the mortal front.
Both Thimble and Julien's families have been sworn to the Royces for generations, and even more than that both Thimble and Julien have displayed incredible personal loyalty to the people they felt deserved it (i.e. Thjazi and Aranessa respectively).
Another thing that I enjoy about both of them is that they are also both incredibly fast and agile fighters.
One of the reasons I love the song jackrabbit for both of them is that there is a fluidity to their combat descriptions- Thimble is always flying in and out of reach of enemies with her wings and the swashbuckler feature, Julien has always been a very acrobatic fighter but even more so now with the addition of the hare's charm.
Side note: I don't know if Julien's mechanical dip into Rogue was just Matt wanting to have sneak attacks/and or capitalize on what is clearly a high dexterity character build but there's something so delightful about them both being Rogues mechanically at least to some level. I think its very reflective of the Fae connection on both their parts.
Obviously one of the more tangible connections they share is that they are both deeply impacted by the fall of the Houses of Royce/Davinos and of the Golden Orchard and I'm sure there are much better and more in depth posts that have been written about that aspect of it but...
I'm very excited to see where they go with their continuing relationship now that they're both Seekers for this next part of the Story.
Well in light of everything I'm now re-considering how Thjazi / Aranessa / Julien fit together. There was always something fun and DEEP with the three of them and I'm delighted we might see more of The Dynamics.
Like how did a young Julien react to This Man courting and marrying his Lady? How much of it was his mother whispering in his ear? How much of his life-long distaste started here?
When they were traveling would Julien sleep in her room to protect her? When he was younger would he sleep there after a row with his parents? Did Thjazi unintentionally kick him out of His Spot?
I tend to see Thjazi as being fond or at least tolerating him, particularly if what he knew of him was through Arennesa.
Did Julien ever resent how much this man knew about him?
Or did his resentment start because this man left his lady? A man given the privilege of being with Her used that to hurt her?
Did his feelings for the rebellion start first and poison his attitude towards Thjazi? Or did his feelings toward Thjazi influence how he felt about the rebellion?
And how will all that come back into play now? What happens when Julien and Arennesa meet again? Julien is changing where she can't see, how will she react to that?
alba davinos? should it please the court
thimble and julien I will always be obsessed with your dynamic. We’re 31 episodes in, only like 9 of those feature them at the same table but oh my god. like the fact that they both clearly don’t really like each other but are so deeply similar. They’re both lethal and sarcastic and vengeful and very shallowly beneath all that they’re so hurt and so lost in the world left in the wake of some of the worst things that could’ve happened to both of them. And the fact of that both of them share the loss of and desire to save the Golden Orchard. Like sure you hate each other but when you imagine your childhood you run through the same gardens.Â
And the part that makes me the most buckwild is probably that they’ve also been uncommonly kind to one another at points. Like Julien spitting on the body of her best friend, grabbing her wings, and then also telling her that Twig’s okay. And Thimble shitting on julien every chance she gets, reminding him he isn’t her better and is a piece of shit, and then bringing him his father’s blade. Also thimble thanking julien and him yelling FUCK like it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to him. Oh seekers table v2 I’m so excited to see how their dynamic evolves more.Â
when you're moving into hour 6 of your game and there's MORE you want to discuss but oh fuck suddenly we're all saying goodbye again and there's no time so you have to retract the lil oddly soft shoulder touch you've done like 3 times now to the guy who blackmailed you 2 weeks ago - a tragedy in 5 photos.
and if i say viewing occtis & julien through a found family siblings angle makes for a more interesting story?
Have we considered Julien and Occtis potentially developing a brotherly dynamic? I feel like the found family potential with them could be very interesting quite possibly more interesting to me atleast then any romantic dynamic they could have.
i think one of the best parts of azulien and possibly its second biggest selling point to me (the first being the fact that they're direct narrative foils and have the capacity to be slightly off-kilter narrative parallels to thjazi and aranessa) is how insanely funny thjazi would find that shit
god i love the brief julian crash out in episode 28. from a character perspective it makes a ton of sense, but i honestly love it equally as a genre/tone reaction. It's so easy to default to 'look around babe. you live in a realm' as the reaction that all fantasy characters have to insane bullshit, like thousand year old demons or swarms of the undead, especially for more well-travelled or knowledgable ones, but it is so much more interesting to have a character, whilst still fully aware of magic and monsters and all that comes with that, draw a firm line in the sand and go 'no seriously what the FUCK was that?'. i love that he loses it for a second and just absolutely refuses to take wild shit in his stride without explanation.
