happy anniversary, gravity falls. idk where or who i’d be without you :’)
[ID: Gravity Falls fanart. The first piece is blue-toned and shows Mabel and Dipper arriving in Gravity Falls with the bus behind them. Mabel looks unsure, and Dipper looks combative. The next piece is pink-toned with warm sunlight falling on them. They both smile fondly, Mabel laughing and Dipper wearing Wendy’s hat. End ID]
Starry starry night 💫
If you ever feel like you don't contribute to fandom because you "only" comment—
A regular serial commenter just joined a fandom Discord server I'm on and people are coming out of the woodwork to thank her for her service to the fandom, expressing how much joy her comments on their works bring them.
Remember—they're never only comments.
i feel like harry’s approach to grifting now that they’ve let him out of his designated lawyer role is to just be the weirdest fucking guy anyone has ever met I don’t think he even cares if it’s believable he just wants someone to see him and think ‘what the fuck’ ajsksk
At this point if I see this
I know it’s the tumblr equivalent of
When I was like 8 I stole my schools copy of the graveyard book because I loved it so much and didn't like when it when another kid had it. Should I return it back, it's been like 10 years and I'm pretty sure it's all new staff?
If you want to.
Some twenty years ago, I was talking to a senior librarian from a library somewhere in (as I recall) the rural appalachians, who was telling me that my books were the most stolen books -- or at least the most never-returned -- books they had. I told her that I was sorry, and asked how they felt about this. And she smiled, and she said, "We like to think our books have found their people".
And while I would never approve of stealing from a library, or taking books that other people would need, I think at that moment I decided that perhaps, sometimes, and in some circumstances, it was good that the books in question had found their people.
As someone with a classroom library, the books that don't make it back are the books that kids need the most. They're books like The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Aristotle and Dante Discover the secrets of the Universe, and Flight. In my experience it's books that talk about teens getting through difficult circumstances that don't make it back and it's those books that I buy again.
Speaking as a librarian, if you’re seeking to make amends for an unreturned library book that was due several years ago, please consider making a monetary donation instead.
To be blunt, after 10 years, we’ve either replaced the book or decided that we don’t need it. Either way, it’s been purged from our catalog, so we can’t just pop it back on the shelf as if it never left. We might think it’s sweet and thoughtful of you to have brought it back after all this time, but ultimately, we’re probably going to do with it whatever we do with random secondhand books that people donate--which is almost never “put them in the collection.”
If you send cash and a note, however, we still get the warm fuzzy of “someone wants to make this right,” and we can use the money to replace the book that some kid last week couldn’t bear to part with.
lawyer walks into the court room with their briefcase but it's this
I see there's been misunderstanding. That's the lawyers assistant. The actual lawyer is the one being carried in the briefcase.

today i saw a balloon :3
my friend stared at my phone
"you have tumblr?" he asked, his fingers twitching towards my phone.
"..yeah, do you want to post something?" i offered the phone to him, blinking innocently.
he took the phone, his hands lightly shaking as he typed his sentence of choice. 'today i saw a balloon :3' there is no context for this. he simply wanted to state an untrue fact. he hands my phone back. i stare at him for a moment.
"yeah, they'll probably eat that up,"
if you’ve been following me for 4+ years i’m certain you could make a chart of every character i’ve gotten attached to and it would tell you more about me than any therapist’s notes ever could. but we don’t have the time for that. there are other things at hand. do not even worry about it. next exhibit. we’re moving along. we’re walking
“i’m noticing.. a pattern—” well stop noticing. close the book. Put it away. step outside and have a cigarette or something. close your eyes. it’s not worth it
