Did Jude St Francis become a lawyer because he wanted to protect people from what he wasn't protected from? Because deep, deep, DEEP down he knew what he went through wasn't his fault. Because if he met a child being brutally abused and sex trafficked, he would be incapable of doing anything but trying to save them? I'd like to think deep down he knew. It was just so repressed and buried by abuse it was such a faint whisper of "it wasn't your fault" that he couldn't hear it enough to believe it.
how much longer ‘til the mornin’?
Harold singing this to Jude after he had a episode.
Your card declines at therapy and they bring out Harold’s “in everything I see, I see him” monologue from Lispenard Street II
#42949 of Jude being funny
We don't know what he said but he makes his friends laugh :')
revelation
“On and on they stare, until Jude’s face becomes almost meaningless as a face to him: it is a series of colors, of planes, of shapes that have been arranged in such a way to give other people pleasure, but to give its owner nothing.” [a little life, pg. 608]
James Norton as Jude in A Little Life
someone said that they miss Jude, but I don't miss him I take him everywhere I go, I let him wander in my mind all the time, it's like I have him with me in some form or the another everywhere
When I said I wanna be a main character I didn’t mean Jude st Francis ……..
bad take. nightmare take. every time i see this i become so intimately aware of how mental health, trauma, and pure simple damage have been twisted by narratives of a "better," of blind optimism, of romanticism. a key point of a little life and of jude is that it wouldnt help. doesnt, rather. he goes to therapy! it makes him feel worse he is actively miserable in therapy the message of a little life is something very simple and that something is that you cant always be fixed. it's like harold says; life always finds a way to compensate your losses. jude finds beautiful feelings and beautiful people and some kind of comfort but that doesnt Fix him, nothing could;
a little life exists to tell the message that not everyone gets better. jude had everything beautiful and a life soaked in slow-moving honeyed light and he was still in miserable agony. even before dear comrade, having perfection with willem didnt fix him. there was the burn, the night he stared into the staircase, the hours spent baking and cleaning and sewing and sorting trinkets for richard's art.
jude st. francis is a lost cause. it quite literally is in the name, and it's not subtle.
Bruh I commented with my wrong blog that’s embarrassing - I said that I agree with your comment and I’m sorry if it made you upset- it was just a stupid meme I made to cope :/
suddenly, everything i read, everything i see, reminds me of jude
should I reread and risk to relapse again? 😃
