Accidentally clicking on an AI assistant feels like clicking on a link that’s going to give you a virus.
guy who is more concerned about not using the scientific method than the actual killing people part (aka fanart of this post that made me laugh earlier)
Howl’s Moving Castle plays into the teenage girl power fantasy of being more competent and interesting than your low self esteem will let you believe that you are
Wouldn’t it be amazing if all this time, while you’ve been doubting yourself and feeling stupid and plain and insignificant, you were important and powerful and loved? Wouldn’t it be amazing if even at your grumpiest, your most hostile, someone was delighted by your very existence? Wouldn’t it be great if you didn’t have to force yourself into contortions of palatability to earn a happy ending?
Can we stop making Bilbo a twink that is a middle-aged man
Dress
c. 1898
by Miss K. Cunningham, Montreal
McCord Stewart Museum Montreal
okay I’m losing my MIND at this dress.
the sleeves with lace cuffs? the bows? the tiers on the “petticoat”? combined with the shape of that bodice and the silhouette of the skirt? this is SUCH a good example of “19th century does 18th century”, it looks like a costume piece (in fact I wonder if it was designed for a fancy dress ball!)
I have GOT to find out more about this. WOW.
I come back bearing information!!
this dress was made as a costume piece for a woman named Mary Van Horne, who was the sister of someone named Sir William Van Horne. She wore it to portray Françoise Bissot, who married a French explorer named Louis Jolliet. She’s a little late in her stylings - apparently this was meant to evoke the 17th century but it’s 18th century all the way down - but it’s a fun piece showing off 19th century design sensibilities
this and other costume pieces were featured in an exhibition about costume balls in the late 19th/early 20th century, you should check out some of the other dresses! the 1920s especially are fascinating.
If I ever share anything that was AI generated it is purely by accident. I hate that it's getting harder and harder to tell and it makes me want to never use the internet again. It definitely had its faults, but man I miss the internet of the 2000s so much.
Adding to this: please TELL ME if I share something that is genAI and you know it is. I want to know this information.
I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. 🍂

I’ve been really liking this new mixed media approach with my recent artworks. The line art is done traditionally with pencil on paper, and then I import it to procreate to add the color wash!
Noooooo they retconned Star Wars Jizz
The implication that Jizz is just a local name on Tatooine is really funny though because I can imagine Luke huddled around a radio with a bunch of other rebels, hearing a song he likes, and going "oh turn it up I love jizz!" And all the other rebels just turning and staring at him.
Well at least this still mentions the planet orto which means ass or particularly anus in some spanish dialects. Small victories.
sam, reading bilbo’s book: “well now, i’m sure he had a very nice voice, but that’s hardly a reason to go on an adventure with someone you just met”
sam: turns page to an illustration of thorin, with his dark hair and blue eyes
sam: “understandable, good for you mister bilbo”

When y/n does something so out of character for you:
this 'being really tired after work' thing is really getting in the way of this 'pursuing my artistic hopes and dreams' thing has anyone else noticed this
let me just say, a lot of people talk about how shitty modern manufacturing is specifically in clothing, and how things are made to basically fall apart in five years or so. but i don't think you can really grasp the full meaning of it until you are trying to mend a world war 2 era flight suit and that bitch, despite its 80 years of literal war action and various other lives, is still going to fight the fuck out of you while you try to replace its zipper. like no baby i am not going to hurt you i promise i JUST want to mend you. i know you're soooo strong and amazing and resilient. please let go of the zipper i am not your enemy. stop breaking my sewing needle for christs sake
so true
