It's not the end of the world, but it feels like it might as well be. Rhett's heart is thundering like the heavens on judgement day and Link - Link's just standing there, eyes dark and expression impenetrable. His cheek isn't branded where Rhett's lips had been and it's a wonder, really, because Rhett's mouth is burning red hot.
"You kissed me," Link says, redundant - processing. There's a flash of teeth that Rhett flinches from before he realizes it's a smile.
"That something we're doing now?"
"No," Rhett hastens to say, hesitates. "Maybe. If it's okay."
"Okay," Link echoes. An answer? He smiles again, tilts his head, and Rhett can hear trumpets as he realizes it's acquiescence.
"Okay," Rhett repeats.
It's not the end of the world: it's better.
