I live in a household of six (6) in America, with my neglectful mother, predatory grandfather, and my very-very darling younger sisters!! It's a...complicated situation.
We're all living off of food stamps, child support, and my grandpa's paycheck — those aren't sustainable enough, and food stamps are apparently at risk of being delayed next month!!! I don't know if our mom plans on getting a job, and asking our dad for help is hard. My sisters that're old enough are trying their best, but, the job market is hard! I, as a chronically ill 19 year old college student, know the struggle just as much!! I haven't had my financial aid sent to me for this semester yet, because the school messed it all up.
Art commissions are how I sustain my family in my own way—I get snacks and drinks for my little sisters when I can, to hold over the lack of food...but lately I've just had nothing, and I want to try out Tumblr in terms of advertising!!

I know the world is scary right now, and money is tight in so many places—so, any help, even if small, is very appreciated!
Ok so I'm taking a genetics class right now and in lab we've been given fruit flies with different mutations that we need to breed over the course of the semester.
Now, first thing I learned: fruit flies don't eat fruit. They eat yeast. They eat the yeast on fermenting fruit. They can not actually eat fruit. Their name is a lie.
Secondly, one of the two mutant lines I was given to cross are flies with the apterous mutation, aka they're wingless. I feel so bad for them, they can't do the one thing they're named for, they cant fly.
And then I realized. My fruit flies are in truth insects that eat yeast and can't fly.
Anyways, I've been calling them my yeast crawls and I am their god now.
I would like to add that the Scandinavian languages have their own native words for “shit” as in, well, shit. They sound similar, but the pronunciation is different.
This shit, that’s pronounced close to the English word, is a loanword expletive reserved especially for when things go wrong. The heartfeltness of “ah, shit” indeed.
