Being trans and polish is so weird because there’s this thing called imieniny, it translates to name day (from what I know it’s not a thing in most countries but maybe it is in some other than Poland) and here’s what it is. Basically every day in the calendar has assigned names, so if you’re named for example Julia, your name is assigned to April 16th and that’s your name day. Not every family celebrates it, but mine does, it’s almost as big of a celebration as birthdays. So the thing is, today is my name day and for years ever since I was born me and my family have celebrated it. I’m not out to my family, so no one knows that I use a different name. I like having a day like this and I will probably still keep it despite changing my name, but there’s this part of me that’s so sad on this day, because it’s all about my deadname.
