Maybe because the first artist knows what he’s doing more than you two. Let me explain: the woman in the drawing definitely has more defined character and personality based on her facial expression, body proportions, pose and her outfit. The artist has a certain style because some of the body parts, such as the hands and lips and eyes are exaggerated giving it a cartoony feel while still maintaining semi-realism. Unfortunately for the first compared piece, the woman is not very anatomically correct (mostly due to her lack of breasts) and the second drawing is actually fine, but it’s a very Tumblr cliche drawing. There are people who spend years in college to get where they are, and it pays off. The first artist’s drawing is not only semirealistic, it’s anatomically correct (maybe except the waist but that probably has to do with the character).
