youll go through old posts or journal entries or photos and youll be tempted to delete it or throw it away because it makes you cringe. THATS THE DEVIL TALKING. you need to keep it, for archival purposes. In ten years youll either be glad you kept it or mad that you didnt.
"kill the part of you that cringes" WRONG. nourish the part of you that gets enjoyment from seeing the evolution of your interests and self expression, as well as how your own views of your past self evolve over time
They're used to being the one in control, the one hurting others. So when a greater evil springs up and leaves them half dead, Whumper doesn't know what to do. They're too badly hurt to take care of themselves, and they don't have any friends they can turn to. And so they prepare themselves to die, alone and in pain.
And then the heroes find them. Take them in, patch up their wounds. When the former Whumper comes around they're shocked to find their rivals treating them with such kindness. And they're even more shocked that their primary victim is the one who advocated for their care.
How does this show of kindness affect them? Do they change their ways? Do they go back to enemies, but with a mutual respect for one another?

Bonus points if the Whumpee keeps patching themself up after fights, and then when the Caretaker finds out they're royally pissed: firstly that such a young child knows how to stitch a wound shut, but also that no one taught them how to ask for help. The Whumpee insists on continuing to take care of themselves at first; it's their responsibility to take hits and not bother the others to patch them up afterwards. But slowly, surely, Caretaker is able to get through to them. First they offer a roll of clean bandages. Then they help reach that spot on their back Whumpee can't quite get. As time goes on Whumpee starts to understand that it's ok to be vulnerable with the others and that their kindness isn't just a facade
Whumpee who's just shockingly nonchalant about their condition? Leader asks them about their day and they rattle off "had toast and eggs for breakfast, attended the team meeting, got shot by a hired killer, met up with Caretaker for coffee... I hope they're not mad our meeting time was pushed back."
Meanwhile Caretaker is just so fucking glad Whumpee is alive they can't even be bothered to chide them about taking these incidents more seriously
