honestly my advice on enjoying d2 is this

play how you want. use whatever guns n shit. don't let anyone make you feel bad about using your favorite gun. obv there's going to be guns you'll have to use for certain activities and armor that'll boost stuff if you want some extra oomf, but other than that? just chill.

don't go on reddit, twitter, or in the youtube comment sections for any reason. it's never worth it.

the moment you feel like your brain is frying or you're tired or you're just not having a good time, quit the game and do something else.

don't do pvp

Bungie has gifted us with another intelligent, principled, badass woman of colour and fandom acts like she personally killed their puppy.

She never accused the Guardian of murder.

She doesn’t kill civilians.

She doesn’t kill innocent Guardians. She doesn’t even kill confirmed Shadows of Yor if she can avoid it, she takes them into custody. Even after they tried to kill her and kidnapped her ghost. Shin Malphur kills them. She’s not The Last City’s answer to Judge Dredd.

She doesn’t crucify anyone. She follows leads based on intelligence and evidence.

She’s the Vanguard contact for the Vanguard allegiance quest because she recognises that the Vanguard strategy is risky and she’s trying to protect them. She serves the Vanguard.

Read the lore, people, I’m begging you. Please stop bashing Aunor Mahal for things she is not guilty of. It’s getting really old.

Part of me wonders when characters with well-defined morals, firm goals, and determination to see those goals to fruition became boring and stale to their fandoms. These are the heroes that every universe, every fandom needs. These are the people who will come through when things get tough, who will knock down doors and comb through details to uncover the truth.

Aunor is one of those. Maybe you feel she’s stuffy or irritating, and if you don’t like her, that’s fine. But she’s clearly planted herself in a place to defend humanity, to defend the Vanguard, even. Being good isn’t glamorous all the time, it’s not trendy or edgy. It’s unapologetically doing what’s right.

If you’re upset that the “choice” sided you with Drifter or Aunor, look at it this way. The Vanguard is more than Zavala and Ikora. The Vanguard represents the Guardian faction fighting the enemies of humanity and defending the Traveler. That’s who Aunor’s working for, people. Not for herself, not for glory. She’s working for the regular ol’ folk, the people Drifter’s declared dead already as he preps to abandon everyone the second things go south.
